  • My Registeel is exactly the same as what Peterko uses on his 1414+ team...

    Registeel @ Leftovers
    Name: HardNess
    Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP, 100 Attack, 140 Defense, 16 Sp. Defense
    IVs: 31/31/31/x/30/31
    Ability: Clear Body
    - Iron Head
    - Substitute
    - Curse
    - Amnesia

    - As Peterko said, nothing breaks its Sub after +6/+6, except Choice Band Rhyperior, Sunny Day/Blaze boosted Fire moves, critical hits and OHKO moves.
It's always good to have something that resists Ice... and Dragon, hence why Steel-types are popular and so effective (look at the top records...). And none of the high records involved Stone Edge, so that's saying something. Feel free to use that in non-Frontier matches vs. real people, as it's okay in most cases then.

Covering weaknesses is sometimes more important than having type coverage yourself.
I can see several reasons why the team will struggle to get a high streak, such as:

Gyarados using the 'worst attack in the game' - as a certain someone says. He knows what he's talking about. Stone Edge is terrible in the Tower... the only decent alternative is Ice Fang, though... not much better.

Also, Jolteon is still very frail with any defensive EVs, so perhaps you will have to use a more defensive Pokemon like Umbreon or something.

Garchomp doesn't really need Crunch, although Substitute only works well on Trick teams (mine's currently surpassed my previous 196 record). So I'm not sure there...

Yeah, Choice users can be screwed up if they're the last remaining.

A sturdy Steel type could be benificial, or basically anything that can set up and recover HP while doing so, eventually attacking with a boosted move...
If I could see the entire details of your team, I'd have a better idea what can be improved. Perhaps a Steel type really is necessary for good streaks... also, frail Pokemon really struggle to achieve their purpose when faced with hax. Bulky sweepers are generally more comfortable... but of course Gyarados is threatened by Electric attacks without being initially fast enough to attack first. I've started using Registeel, currently on 77 and going slow and steady (I just so happened to face all the worst matchups for Registeel as soon as I use him - game is rigged).
    Yep, Speed is very important.

I'm 99.9999% sure nothing special happens when you get all Gold Prints. Because Pokemon is just evil like that - the reward for painstakingly enduring 49 consecutive battles of sk... er, hax... is merely a coloured rectangle. How lame. No wonder I vow to avoid the Fagtory for ever.
Yes, the game would probably have been called "Haxmon: Same Gameplay Formula now with EXTRA Hax in a New, Hax-Filled Frontier". Though to be honest, I've never had any ridiculously haxy moments in the Tower (Fagtory, yes...) ... nothing compared to the stories I've read here. I see - can't other Eeveelutions use those same moves? Or is the Electric type and speed important?

Nope, I was disappointed when nothing happened... and since that day of the Black Card, my game has been played a lot less.
It's cool that you also use the term Hax Tower... that's what it was originally called, but the translators decided to hide that from people and use the friendlier 'Battle Tower' name. Maybe. Garchomp will make almost any team work well, since he's basically an Uber allowed in the Tower. Gyarados does have good synergy, but only being neutral to Ice is a problem... I personally find Jolteon to frail to use... up to you.

Well, if you already have the Gold Card then nothing extra happens... it's just bragging rights, basically. Oh, and the card is pretty. I often wonder what percentage of players actually have a Black Card... must be very low.
I saw you mention a Black Card - just thought I'd say I have one. You probably don't care in the least, so I'll stop writing now, as I'm a stranger to you. So, uh... bye.
