I managed to see the most recent version, and fuck I love it. However, as for the character representative, do you think you can make the colors more crisp and defined? I feel like it looks too traditional, which is fine, but it's not my taste, if you knnow what I mean.

Well, I haven't ever used gimp, so it's hard for me to say! But I do like photoshop a lot, other options could be paint tool SAI or OpenCanvas.
I get fine details by making my canvas large. The size you guys have been seeing is actually only 50% of the real size. The bigger the size, the easier the lines are to control :)
