If sheer cold missed every turn that they used it, then their strategy would be worthless. While it is indeed true that they had skill, their strategy can go horribly wrong if their OHKO move never hit. I'm not saying that they didn't have any strategy, but luck is the overall final factor that it relies on, which is why I'm so much against it. They are indeed skilled, like you suggested, but it's not a strategy that can always be repeated over and over again, as it can not only fail if they're misfortunate enough, but it also infuriates the opponent because luck is the ultimate factor determining the outcome of the battle, making it not a fun game to play anymore. This is why I hate these moves.
