It's a matter of consistency, I believe. I actually wasn't there for the decision to ban all ram hacks rather than just Col/XD ones, but I think it's approximately hacking the seed, which is also relatively uncool. I have to head out to class, so I won't be able to continue this conversation for a while.
That giveaway caused a number of us to look at the XD RNG situation more carefully. We agreed that currently it's pretty much impossible without hacking the data, so flawless XD mons are practically "hacked". Reviewing this further caused us to realize that ram hacking in general is not cool, so that's what happened.
