Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started playing PS! in 2016, and pretty much since the get-go, I've been a Monotype player. I have general knowledge on the game, but I'd like to expand our from a single tier into new territories. LC has always interested me, and I'd love to be given the chance to learn some more about in-depth one-on-one with with tutorship program. Thank you!

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I play a lot of CG Ubers and lower tiers in general but have always been interested in bw, and wanted to learn an old gen for the upcoming year. Want to become self sufficient as a builder and player off of no personal experience (only watching teammates)

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started playing competitive pokemon years ago during gen 4. This gen I am trying to actually be a good competitive battler. So far I have been able to reach 1700 but I'm typically between 1500-1600. I want a tutor who would be able to help me understand and be able to build strong teams of my own, and gameplan and battle at a higher level. Ideally I want to improve enough to eventually play the tours.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes, prefer text chat so I can revisit the lessons but can also use vc when needed.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started playing Randoms a year ago to gauge my skill in Pokemon. After I got pretty good, I started playing NatDex Ubers with a rain team. Although the team was fairly primitive with not much thought other than "deal as much damage as possible," I fell in-love with rain. I peaked close to 1600 if I remember correctly. After wanting a more balanced experience, I started to play NatDex OU with a rain team derived from my Ubers team. Now I'm running a hybrid Electric Terrain and Rain team, but I am willing to remove the Electric Terrain aspect if it's the best course of action. However, I can never part with rain. Only touched regular OU once, and I absolutely hated it. No variety, just Kingambit and Gholdengo spam. It just wasn't for me.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I have been playing OU for a while now, and I still ladder a fair bit on OU. Played in the OU fall seasonal, and will hopefully join more open tours soon. The Miraidon been made me interested in the Ubers tier, as it seems like an exciting time to get in touch with the metagame as its changing. Ive only barely managed to get to 1500´s on Ubers ladder, and it seems most my losses are due to lack of meta knowledge. The Ubers tiers looks really cool. Having fun on ladder and enjoying watching the SCL games. Would love some guidance to improve as a player, and maybe espacially as a builder, in the Ubers tier.

I played online a bit back in X and Y but outside of that I recently got into Showdown. I'm in a draft league with some friends and currently first seed but feel like I have plenty of room to improve. I think my current peak is around 1250 or so but I haven't tried to run the ladder very hard. Looking to get better at team building and just play in general.

I would be keen for someone to take the time to review my replays and help me with building solid teams but also unique cores/sets and reach a much higher level.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started in GSC OU because Pokémon Silver was the first pokémon game I played. I felt thrilled (and also different because people say that GSC is the "stall generation" and leave it at that) starting out but later on I got mad at my matchups and started branching out to Random Battles, Gen 5, BDSP OU, etc... and when I do play GSC OU matches I fail mostly because of my impatience. I hope to be more patient and to make my choices and build my team with utmost strategy.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I've been "casually competitive" for a while, I started around 2014 and have tried a variety of formats. I've particularly enjoyed the higher powered formats, reaching around 1500 in Gen7BH, Gen8AG, and Gen9AG. I played in PSPL VIII representing the Mafia room in Gen8 Ubers and did... poorly, but had a good time playing there. Now that I've got some free time again, I'm looking to improve my play overall and in Ubers/AG in particular. Hopefully I can redeem myself if I get a chance to play in PSPL again.
(Update: I did better? But not much better.)
My preferred playstyle is Offense teams designed around flexible pivots and high damage sweepers wearing down the opposing team, but I'm open to trying alternatives.
Are you able to use Discord?:  Yes

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): Been on Showdown since the release of USUM and I really want to get back into my debut format. These past few years, I've been focusing on my Random Battle skills (specifically SM and BW) and peaked at high 1400s respectively. I am not well versed but understand cores, team composition and type coverage. I've been in the Pokémon scene for quite a while so I'm able to predict moves the opponent has and how much damage they do. Well, sometimes I struggle with my overage judgement and I always get a feeling there's something missing in my team. Hopefully, being a tutee can fix these apparent reasons for my "averageness" and I get to the level which I want to be at!
Are you able to use Discord?: Currently? No. Discord account being sorted, will be yes soon! (My username is leafbladed)

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences) :
I got interested by watching a lot of funny gimmick videos on the ladder, I followed a lot of youtubers, some actually very good players, french and english. A lot of formats interested me for a very long time, and I played quite a lot of random battles especially. I feel like I have a relatively good game-sense in general, but I wish to really know if I truly am pretty good, or if I am just Dunning-Krugering myself, lol. I have around 1300 elo on most formats I play, which is tragic.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes, but VCing is quite difficult. (at Skezou)

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I am getting back into the game after several years, I played OU in USUM and S&S but I was never spectacular. I'd love to get back into the format and improve past my old peak (like 1400) but I know nothing about SVso I'm looking for help just learning the basics of SV OU--teambuilding, threats and checks, dealing with tera, etc.

Welcome to Battling 101! If you're seeking a tutor for Old Gens OU, you are in the right place. Please read all the rules carefully and fill out every part of the application.

Available Formats:
SS OU, SM OU, XY OU, BW OU, DPP OU, ADV OU, GSC OU, RBY OU

THE RULES

  • You must be able to access Discord, or whatever your tutor wants as the primary form of communication.
  • You must be willing to use Pokemon Showdown! even if you are being tutored in a cartridge format such as Battle Spot or VGC.
  • You, the tutee, should have at least 15 posts before signing up AND your account's age should be a minimum of at least 1 month old before signing up.
    • This is not a strict requirement meaning you may still be paired without satisfying it, so no matter what, DO NOT spam post elsewhere in the forum. That is an infractable offense and we do not encourage such behavior from potential Tutees.
  • You must have battled competitively for a decent amount in at least ONE of the Smogon tiers or Battle Spot / VGC to sign up. Playing 10 or so matches on the PS! ladder is not substantial enough, ~70 or so is more reasonable. This experience does not need to be for the format you sign-up for; this is just to weed out people who have never played competitively that can improve themselves simply by using resources already available to them without needing a tutor to hold their hand.
  • You, the tutee, are responsible for setting up times with your tutor. When you receive the Smogon notification informing you of the pairing, please take the initiative and post on their VM wall first. Continued scheduling and communication is key to a successful pairing!
  • Use the Tutee Talk forum to complain about your tutor (or praise them if they're doing a good job). These are no longer mandatory, but if your tutor is ridiculously inactive or is a complete jackass, COMPLAIN HERE. Nobody can see your tutee talk posts except for you and the Battling 101 Staff; everything is confidential.
  • Signups older than 4 months or 1 month since last login will be considered inactive. These will be moved to the Inactive Posts thread, and can be returned back to this thread by request.
  • Tutors can and will drop you if sessions go badly, and significant violations may result in a ban from B101. Be active, be enthusiastic, be respectful. Make the best of your time together!
