Project OM Mashup Megathread

And for the final piece of news, expect new samples within the next two days. While the bans are major, they do not shake up the tier in a major enough way to result in a redo of samples.
It's been a little longer than a few days (mostly because I've been extremely busy with EUIC event prep) but new samples! I'll beautify this when I get time, right now I don't. If there are any copies of Astral Barrage, pretend they're Moongeist Beam. If any teams have Substitute, yell at me because I missed them.

:archaludon: Electro Shot users like Jolteon and Hisuian Electrode with Primordial Sea or Drizzle support could snowball out of control very quickly, especially with the extra coverage they had access to.

:toxtricity: While it's not much of a problem in base ABC, Pokémon like Salamence, Hisuian Braviary, Primarina, and Blastoise could now run -ate or Liquid Voice, giving them an extremely powerful STAB move.

:decidueye-hisui: Triple Arrows with Serene Grace is dumb, especially since the abusers like Paldean Tauros forms and Terrakion now have access to Tidy Up.

:zamazenta: :zamazenta-crowned: We don't view either Zamazenta form as a big problem, as both are legal in AAA (and the former is legal in ABC) and don't get any moves that make them broken.

The codes now also use Anything Goes as the base format.

TSPOKEAAA UNBANS
ok I lied. This isn't technically an unban but I just decided to make an announcement.

Kyurem White and Black are now freed!
So uh these were mistakenly banned in the code and I have nothing else to say.
:sm/kyurem-white: :sm/kyurem-black:
I will update the codes later

i need to make this post before euph releases ell w3 but im really tired (almost fell asleep before remembering, another 45min needed to sleep ig...) so im just doing ban announcements now without anything else until after work tomorrow

alakazam and magnet pull are banned from camove, rejoice

both were 5-1-2 Y/N/A, zam had way too many sets to reliably be answered (i can name 10 different viable typings off the top of my head and will list them in longer post) and mpull enabled mons way too easily because turns out steel is a pretty important typing defensively.

Euphonos extra ping for you, and RoFnA The Hisui Region TheIronPikachu you three can decide if it counts for tpws since that was released early (thr will probably say no because zam ban but imo ban both anyway)

:sv/hawlucha:Simple in PokeBH:sv/iron_valiant:paradox 3d models wen

Since there hasn't been much activity on the thread lately, I am making a post on what is probably the most banworthy thing in PokeBH: Simple.
Note: whenever I say Imp, I mean Eviolite Chansey.
Part 1: Booster Energy

:sv/Flutter Mane::sv/Gouging Fire::sv/Iron Boulder::sv/Iron Bundle::sv/Iron Jugulis::sv/Iron Leaves::sv/Iron Moth::sv/Iron Valiant::sv/Iron Treads::sv/Iron Valiant::sv/Raging Bolt::sv/Roaring Moon::sv/Sandy Shocks:
click on pokemon for importables
Have you ever sat down and thought, "Gee, I wish my Simple pokemon didn't have to worry about improofing," or "I wish I had some extra speed control on this team?" Well you're in luck, because Today I'll be breaking down exactly how to solve both of those issues with two simple words.

:Roaring Moon::Booster Energy:Booster Energy:Booster Energy: :Iron Valiant:
Why use Booster Energy? It, when combined with Protosynthesis or Quark Drive, allows your pokemon to both beat their own Imposter with the correct EVing, and also give you some emergency speed control for their sweeper at +1, or maybe even 2. Now, you may be wondering, what Booster Energy pokemon are there that you could possibly use in such a high-powered meta like PokeBH? Well, dear citizen reading this post on www.smogon.com/forums/threads/om-mashup-megathread.3711916, I'm glad you asked this, for I have compiled a list of pokemon that can use this, and even created sets and EVed them to beat their own Imposter, for your viewing and usage enjoyment.

:sv/Flutter Mane:

First off, we have Flutter Mane, a pokemon whose high Special Attack and Speed comboes with its threatening STAB combo of Ghost/Fairy to create a lethal offensive pokemon, and now, it can't even be stopped by Imposter. The combination of Astral Barrage and Moonblast 2HKOs almost the entire tier, with Pain Split making it incredibly hard for pink blobs like:Audino-Mega, Chansey, or Blissey to stop you. The provided spread always OHKOs Eviolite Imposter from full after a Nasty Plot with Astral Barrage, Moongeist Beam can't quite OHKO Imposter, so I would advise against its use.

:sv/Gouging Fire:

Next, we have the Big Gouger, who I think might be getting slept on a little because of Reshiram. Reshiram might be the better sun pick, but this Gouging Fire set is incredibly dangerous after just a single Swords Dance. Glaive Rush is a great STAB, and while normally the Fire STAB of choice is V-Create, Simple and Booster Energy both anti-synergize with it, so instead I've opted for Pyro Ball. Sunsteel Strike threatens any Fairies or FC pokemon that would try to slow you down, and because of your natural Fire typing, you're even able to spam contact moves like Sunsteel Strike or Glaive Rush without being scared of Bulwark.

:sv/Iron Boulder:

Boulder has a rather unique set of traits that I think makes it a good user of Simple+Booster Energy. It's very fast, it has SE STAB on Toxapex and Ho-Oh, and it has STAB that punishes Bulwark usage heavily. You could theoretically swap out Headlong Rush for Precipice Blades to counter Bulwark Steels if you feel lucky, or Gigaton Hammer to allow you to run a lot more EVs in Defense(instead of having to use 0 EV/19 IV Hasty, you could use 96 EV/31 IV Jolly), but then Imposters could switch out on the Gigaton, sack a different pokemon to it, and kill you with Gigaton in return, so I woudn't personally recommend it. I wouldn't recommend using Sunsteel Strike over Headlong Rush either, as it cannot quite OHKO Imposter.

:sv/Iron Bundle:

Bundle sports probably the most unique spread I've made for any of these pokemon, but it hits a few critical benchmarks. Modest 212 Special Attack is stronger than Timid 252 on Iron Bundle, while also still allowing for Booster Energy to boost Speed. This increased Special Attack also allows you to run more Special Defense EVs (176 vs 124) while still always OHKOing Imposter with Electro Drift. Freeze-Dry and Ice Beam are both very solid Ice STABs for Bundle, and Steam Eruption is a good secondary STAB.

:sv/Iron Jugulis:

Not too much to say about this one, it's a fast Booster mon weak to Electro Drift, so Improofing is pretty easy, don't know if I'd use it vs any of the Scales mons in the meta, but I think it has a chance to be able to do some interesting things.

:sv/Iron Leaves:

Another fairly simple set, STAB Flower Trick hits like a truck, Attack Order makes Improofing simple, Triple Arrows slam Steels. You could very easily swap out Flower Trick for a Psychic STAB like Psychic Fangs or Psyblade if you need to hit Toxapex.

:sv/Iron Moth:

This is the first of two pokemon that I've cooked two different sets for, but unlike the one coming up, both of the two sets are fairly similar. Malignant Chain+Fire STAB(can be Torch Song, Armor Cannon, Blue Flare, etc)+Improofing Move+NPlot. The difference comes primarily in the EVs necessary for the two different Improofing Moves(Psystrike and Earth Power). The other main difference is that Psystrike is slightly better into blobs like Blissey/Chansey, and Earth Power is better into Mega Tyranitar, so just pick whichever suits your team best.

:sv/Iron Treads:

Another good user of Simple+Booster Energy, Iron Treads has STAB SE on itself for easy Improofing, and also has STAB Sunsteel Strike, making it a super threatening pokemon, especially as the pokemon you'd ordinarily use for checking Ground/Steel moves in PokeBH, Ho-Oh, gets eviscerated by +4 Mighty Cleave.

:sv/Iron Valiant:

The second pokemon that I've cooked up two sets for, and probably the most flexible pokemon on this list, Iron Valiant is in a very unique position, where as long as it runs Fairy STAB for self-proofing, it can really use whatever two coverage moves it wants. Glacial Lance for Gliscor, Electro Drift for Ho-Oh/Toxapex, Precipice Blades for Mega Steelix, you get the idea. It can easily pick apart just about any team with the right coverage moves. Very scary pokemon, don't sleep on this.

:sv/Raging Bolt:

A pokemon that I'm not as sure about, Raging Bolt feels like just worse Miraidon/Ampharos-Mega, but it might be able to leverage its 409 speed tier after Booster and Simple Nasty Plot to do something. Fairly basic moveset, could probably be experimented with more.

:sv/Roaring Moon:

Another Dragon, this time a bit faster and stronger than Gouging, but a lot worse into Fairies, Roaring Moon can threaten to seriously mess with most teams with Glaive Rush/Knock Off/Sunsteel Strike, and can also switch out Knock Off for Wicked Blow if you want to sacrifice utility for raw damage output. Another scary pokemon, does feel a little awkward to set up at the moment, and hates Bulwark 50/50s, but definitely keep an eye on this mon.

:sv/Sandy Shocks:

A pokemon I haven't experimented with much, inspired by Slothy0wl's usage of it on a rain team a couple weeks back, Sandy Shocks is a fairly simple pokemon for my purposes. Fast, STAB Electro Drift, SE STAB on itself for easy Improofing, and then a flex slot to do whatever it wants with. Could do with some tinkering, and feels a little frail, but isn't a bad pokemon by any means.
this

Part 2: Unburden
Unburden allows certain mons to outspeed most of the meta, and, most notably, mean you don't have to improof it, since you get the boost from losing your item while Imposter doesn't. Just like in standard play, they are generally paired with terrain setters, as the terrain seeds are a quick and easy way to activate Unburden, and because of Simple, it gives +2 to a defensive stat, allowing easier setup.

:sv/hawlucha:
Hawlucha @ Psychic Seed / Misty Seed
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Ascent
- Close Combat
- Filler

Hawlucha is the main non-Booster Energy abuser of Simple right now, as despite its Seaking-level Attack stat, it's a really good sweeper as it gets Mold Breaker on top of Unburden, Limber for stray Nuzzles and 2 120BP STABs with drawbacks that aren't too bad. It's also weak to one of its own STABs, allowing it to OHKO Imposter without having to de-EV Defense too much or run another move. Because of this, and the fact Fighting/Flying is great offensive typing, the 4th moveslot is free, allowing you to run utility or coverage for one of the few Pokémon that resists its STABs, like Tapu Koko or Gholdengo (which aren't very common in the first place).

:sv/sneasler:

Sneasler @ Psychic Seed / Misty Seed
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 144 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Noxious Torque
- Headlong Rush

I haven't used this or seen it very much, but it could work as a second Hawlucha on terrain HO teams (or a niche sidegrade?). While it doesn't have built-in Mold Breaker or Limber, it naturally has much more Attack and a STAB that hits Fairy-types. Headlong Rush offers pretty good coverage while allowing you to OHKO Imp with the spread above at +4.

:sv/drifblim:
Drifblim @ Electric Seed / Grassy Seed
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 172 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Moongeist Beam
- Aeroblast
- Steam Eruption (or some other coverage idk)

I don't think I've ever seen or used this, but it can maybe work as a special attacker. Its other abilities aren't very useful unless you try to switch into a stray Wisp, but at least Moongeist ignores Ice Scales as well as OHKOing Imp at +4. Unfortunately it can't run Psychic or Misty Seed as that will stop it from OHKOing Imp, and it's still a Drifblim (Steam Eruption doesn't even OHKO Ting-Lu), so it probably won't be very good.

Part 3: lol who cares about speed boosting abilities? just run it on broken guys

:sv/ogerpon-hearthflame:

Ogerpon-Hearthflame (F) @ Hearthflame Mask / Life Orb
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- V-create
- Flower Trick
- Headlong Rush

+4 252+ Atk Hearthflame Mask Ogerpon-Hearthflame V-create vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ho-Oh: 422-497 (101.4 - 119.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
yeah
V-create does drop your speed by 2 but it doesn't really matter as it will still nuke something and you will probably switch, sadly improofing is limited to stuff like AShield Levitate Heatran.

:sv/aerodactyl-mega:
Aerodactyl-Mega @ Life Orb
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Mighty Cleave
- Dragon Ascent
- Headlong Rush

+4 252+ Atk Life Orb Tough Claws Aerodactyl-Mega Dragon Ascent vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Fur Coat Gliscor: 344-407 (97.1 - 114.9%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO :sholthink:
MAero is so fast that it doesn't need to run Jolly, and unlike with HOger, improofing isn't too hard as you don't need AShield on your Fur Coat Dondozo, Bronzong or whatever else you want to improof it with.

:sv/tyranitar-mega:
Tyranitar-Mega @ Clear Amulet
Ability: Simple
Tera Type: Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Victory Dance
- Strength Sap
- Power Trip
- Spirit Shackle

Who said you can't run regular BH sets here? (ok it does get sand stream which makes it slightly better but still)

Conclusion
While some people have been saying Hawlucha is banworthy because it would be broken even without Simple, other abusers are strong enough that I still think Simple is the msot banworthy things in the current meta.

:SV/Kleavor: Fortissimons Update :SV/Urshifu:

I checked with Banded Body Press on this and got permission for this. I'm taking over as leader for Fortissimons as it hasn't been very active much for a while and it doesn't have a dedicated post.

What is it?

For those who don't know, or forgot, this format is made up of Fortemons (you can put an offensive move in the itemslot to gain its effects, like Ember passing the burn or X-Scissor passing the Slicing effect), Sketchmons (Pokémon gain access to any one non restricted move in the game), Pokebilities (Pokémon use all their abilities at once), and Almost Any Ability (Pokémon can use any non restricted/banned ability they want). Also keep in mind sketched moves, flinch moves, freeze moves, and accuracy decreasing moves can NOT be used as items.

:SV/Kleavor: Fortissimons Update :SV/Urshifu:
I checked with Banded Body Press on this and got permission for this. I'm taking over as leader for Fortissimons as it hasn't been very active much for a while and it doesn't have a dedicated post. For those who don't know, or forgot, this format is made up of Fortemons (you can put an offensive move in the moveslot to gain its effects, like Ember passing the burn or X-Scissor passing the Slicing effect), Sketchmons (Pokémon gain access to any one non restricted move in the game), Pokebilities (Pokémon use all their abilities at once), and Almost Any Ability (Pokémon can use any non restricted/banned ability they want).

The Kalos FoxBandedBodyPresssplodge
:Kleavor: KleavorBanBanBan

First new slate since the update! (Granted it's only one Pokémon but this guy had to go)

:Kleavor: So, uh... Yeah. This guy was dumb. With Stone Axe as the item, it got the Sharpness boost of x1.5 as well as the SF boost of x1.3, giving all moves a ridiculous x1.95 boost, essentially giving a Huge Power boost as an item. If that wasn't bad enough, it has very good attack of 135 base as well as 95 base speed which is very strong with webs up, which is currently usable on anything. Furthermore, it got access now to Rock Wrecker, a 150 BP Rock recharge move, which actually has its recharge negated due to how Fortemons works with Sheer Force. Furthermore, it could use abilities like Rocky Payload or Tinted Lens to blast through anything that has a chance of living a hit - most cases it doesn't even need SD to OHKO stuff, and even did 77 percent to a Quaquaval behind screens with Rocky Payload. Yeah this guy had to go.

Edit: We're also implementing 1AC with a 3-0 vote so we won't have -Regen > 1 anymore

So with that, :Urshifu: Urshifu, :Yanmega: Yanmega and :Light Clay: Light Clay are banned, :Sandslash-Alola: Rollout and :Kyurem:Ancient Power are restricted, and :Ribombee: Sticky Web remains unrestricted!

:Urshifu: (Urshifu) Honestly this guy is stupid. Wicked Blow with Sniper/Tough Claws/Tinted hits like a truck, and with Sucker Punch, SD, and a Fighting move, or any sketched move it wants, and recovery with Drain Punch as the item or just regular items to boost its power, it has proven overwhelming for the format and was therefore banned

:Yanmega: (Yanmega) If you've played PokeAAA when this was legal, you know how powerful it was there - it is banned there after all. Having access to Speed Boost and Tinted is already strong, but when it can also use SFLO as well or other damage boosting abilities with Giga Drain item, and access any move too like Nasty Plot to increase its high damage already, then it flat out needs to go

:Light Clay: (Light Clay) This item allowed Pokémon to very easily just set up and sweep teams, such as (the now banned) Kleavor, and was quite difficult to deal with due to the lack of defensive Pokémon in the format. It was particularly overwhelming with Sticky Web and Prankster being legal on any Pokémon too, meaning screens could be combined with Webs for an overwhelming support option

:Sandslash-Alola: (Rollout) Rollout was, uh... Interesting, to say the least. When you use it as an item, it causes the next four hits to be Rollout, but when combined with a Multi Hit move and Skill Link, it instead doubled each hit's power, meaning it could go up to 775 BP if you don't include STAB, which is crazy damage - even though you were forced to use Rollout the turn after, Sandslash-A basically always got at least a KO when it used Icicle Spear - after Defence Curl, it even OHKOed physdef Dondozo with Icicle Spear from full! Sorry, Rollout, you're one of my favourite gimmicks, but you just had to suffer restriction

:Kyurem: (Ancient Power) Ancient Power is getting restricted due to being highly uncompetitive - Pokémon could just use Multi Hit + Skill Link and have a 10 percent chance of getting an omniboost, five times in one turn, and have a 40.951 percent chance for at least one. If you got even an ounce of luck while using it, it could easily spin out of control with stat boosts, and this is even more annoying due to the lack of defensive Pokémon in the format. It would get worse with Light Clay banned but it's still super uncompetitive.

:Ribombee: (Sticky Web) Sticky Web is here because it can just be given to anything with Prankster, and with Prankster Screens, it could combo into a very strong support option and be pretty hard to deal with. However, with Light Clay getting banned, the council has decided to keep it unrestricted for now

Thanks for listening! I'll update my post and ask BBP to implement the new bans.

:volcanion: Volcanion managed to escape the ban hammer in Alphabet Cup, but here it could run abilities like Sword of Ruin, Tinted Lens and Desolate land to make its V-creates even more nuclear especially when paired with Victory Dance, while other abilities like Magic Guard and Mold Breaker were probably good too. Anyway, these abilities pushed Volcanion over the edge and resulted in it getting banned.

:chien-pao: Chien-Pao is already banned in Alphabet Cup for being Chien-Pao, and while it does get coverage like Collision Course and Crabhammer here, the higher power level of the tier and the fact it normally wants to run its base ability anyway makes it less broken.

:arbok: (Glare) While Glare was restricted in Alphabet Cup, some of the main abusers like Gliscor and Gholdengo made it broken because of their abilities (which are banned here), so it was given a chance here.

:light clay: i don't really know what to say about this one

Camove teams I built/modified in ISTT. Most of them are edits of teams I already had in my builder. I also used passed teams a couple times but won't post them out of respect. Games were wins unless specified otherwise. Thanks to The Hisui Region/Akira 153 for supporting

:mabosstiff::regirock::tornadus-therian::ditto::hydrapple::blissey: | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
Better than most if not all of the samples imo. Plays more like BH bulky offense than anything resembling stall because Mabosstiff is broken and lacks viable defensive counterplay. Ghost/Fairy Tornadus is about as reliable a Spinner as you can get without resorting to -ate/Scrappy, and hits some frailer offensive mons surprisingly hard. The only losing matchup I've encountered so far is literally the same structure with something over Ditto (though that inherently makes you weaker against strong enough setup users).

:yanmega::tornadus-therian::gliscor::coalossal::blissey::diancie-mega: | L
Incoherent team that I loaded because I was up in a bo3 set. Being completely reliant on manual Magic Bounce for hazard deterrence is obviously ridiculous and Torn-T should've been Rapid Spin at the very least. Deserved loss

:gliscor::toxapex::blissey::coalossal::regirock::cresselia: | Game
Steel/Flying Regen is a nice secondary Knock absorber on stall, especially after the Magnet Pull ban removed the main cause of inconsistency. Leftovers on defensive mons is almost necessary imo because 8 PP recovery means you'll otherwise lose long-term to competent offensive cores. For similar reasons Cresselia is just better than Latias on fat imo

:ursaluna-bloodmoon::alomomola::coalossal::toxapex::zeraora::ditto: | Game
Generic 2 Regen balance with Psystrike Zeraora for Electric/Poison. As is with the first team you can Regen pivot --> Ditto to scout opposing sets, and of course Scarf Imposter is very nice when running reliable setup control (a combination of Spectral Thief/Haze/Topsy-Turvy/Clear Smog/phazing etc. to have a gameplan against all possible setup) isn't feasible. Bloodmoon is also underrated, Poison/Elec and random niche typings are the only real hindrances

:lopunny-mega::alomomola::coalossal::toxapex::zeraora::ditto: | Game
Similar to the above team but edited to have a strong Sun matchup. Lopunny is also very solid and boom is probably broken on it – even outside of that it can randomly live hits a surprising portion of the time to get to +4, at which point it OHKOes almost everything. Non-Bug/Steel Coalossal means random combinations of coverage might get you but this team seems relatively resilient vs. on-paper bad matchups anyway

:lopunny-mega::alomomola::coalossal::toxapex::zeraora::reuniclus: | Game
I figured my opponent would have access to good teams and/or actually prep so I modified the above team. Reuniclus generally has good matchup into Poison/Electric and is an actually reliable long-term switchin thanks to Magic Guard for Mortal Spin.

So with that, :Dondozo: Dondozo, :Lilligant-Hisui: Lilligant-Hisui, :Enamorus: Enamorus-base, :Noivern: Noivern and :Dragonite: Dragonite are all banned.

:Dondozo: (Dondozo) This guy was way too bulky. It took ~15 percent from a Rock Recker Lycanroc-Dusk with SF and Tough Claws. Yeah, with Unaware and Fluffy, it took way too little damage from physical attacks, which was elevated by its natural 150/115 physical bulk. Furthermore, it gains access to better healing moves like Strength Sap or Shore Up to heal massively without the need for Rest to put it to sleep for two turns. It also had decent attack too which lets it use Curse very effectively. Furthermore, while it didn't have any moves it could really use as the item effectively with Body Press being restricted, it could use Rocky Helmet and really punish physical attackers. Honestly glad it's banned, it was dumb as hell and I hate it so much here.

:Lilligant-Hisui: (Lilligant-Hisui) While I didn't get to see it or use it very much, I do understand it was extremely strong - it could combine Flower Trick, Victory Dance, Hustle and Sniper/Tinted Lens to keep counterplay to quad resists and immunities. Again, since I didn't see or use it very much, I don't have much else to say.

:Enamorus: (Enamorus-base) This had two sets it had a lot of success with - physical (with Superpower as item increasing its Attack and Def every time it attacked - for some reason Spin Out didn't increase speed but it was still very strong) and special (where it could spam Fleur Cannon and get SpA boosts). Both these sets were too much to deal with as Contrary is a cracked ability and could stack with various other abilities such as Tinted Lends, Beads of Ruin or Sword of Ruin, and the guessing game of it being either physical or special was too much for the tier.

:Noivern: (Noivern) Hopefully everyone here knows that this is a menace in AAA due to Specs Aerilate Boomburst and good coverage, good speed and good enough SpA. Here, it becomes even better - it gains access to any coverage move or special Dragon move or Nasty Plot for insane damage, and could use Absorb as the item to heal a lot.

:Dragonite: (Dragonite) Here lies another Aerilate offender who is banned in AAA, except with a different move - Espeed. With its high base attack, natural Multiscale to help set up super easily, Roost, very good coverage, Fire Spin as item to wear down and trap bulkier or weaker Pokémon, and a decent SpA stat which it could use a variety of special moves with such as Flamethrower or Thunder Bolt, and any coverage it wants to defeat different walls, it was overbearing, especially with +2 priority 96 BP STAB. I will not miss this at all.

Thanks for listening! (Also asking BandedBodyPress to implement the new bans)

Hi! This post is mostly a send-off for a team I really enjoyed (RIP Dondozo), but also a call to arms: (semi)stall can work in Fortissimons, and here’s a showcasing of it.

So, I was going to get some fun replays to showcase the team in action but then one of the members (Dondozo) got banned so I guess I'll just have to do without them lol.

Cetitan @ playrough
Ability: Refrigerate
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Giga Impact
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake

Very standard Cetitan, Play Rough is purely for the sheer force boost, at first I thought Chilling Water would be better to bypass Fluffy since it's not a contact move, like how Draining Kiss enables Fluffy because it is one. For some reason it doesn't work like that though, I don't know if that's intended but it's noteworthy regardless. With 2 Chilly Reception's on the team, it finds ample opportunities to launch off it's insane 180 BP STAB SF boosted Giga Impact.

Quaquaval @ rapidspin
Ability: Magic Guard
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Volt Tackle
- Close Combat
- Wave Crash

A very cool offensive hazard remover which takes no damage from them and can easily sweep lategame. Volt tackle is there mainly for Primarina who resists both of it's stabs, even having a 75% chance to OHKO a max HP Primarina without any Moxie boosts.

Slowking-Galar @ acidspray
Ability: Vessel of Ruin
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Twin Beam
- Sludge Bomb
- Slack Off
- Chilly Reception

Admittedly I did not come up with this set myself, credits go to Banded Body Press and when I saw it in a match I just knew I had to use it on a semi-stall team. Twin Beam with Acid Spray hits so hard even with no SpA investment, meaning you're not a sitting duck to the opposing special attacker if it decides to set up. Chilly Reception is also an option to both set snow and pivot, punishing a frail special attacker staying in with Cetitan.

Goodra-Hisui @ dragontail
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Knock Off
- Counter
- Heavy Slam
- Volt Switch

This might be my favorite mon of the bunch, it's SO bulky even without an assault vest like it runs in AAA. Dtail Volt Switch means that you'll be the same priority as teleport and since Goodra is so slow you're nearly guaranteed to get the slower pivot. If they decide to stay in and set up, well Volt Switch forces them out anyways and you can pivot to the mon best suited to counter whoever just came in.

Gouging Fire @ breakingswipe
Ability: Fluffy
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Burning Bulwark
- Morning Sun
- Heat Crash
- Chilly Reception

This was mainly for when Lilligant-H was still legal, as it was capable of OHKOing Dondozo at +1 or with a Choice Band/Life Orb so it was kinda necessary to have a quad-resist to Flower Trick. Burning Bulwark is also very nice to have, threatening the burn on any non-fire physical attackers. Chilly Reception is there for pivoting and enabling Cetitan at the same time.

Dondozo @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Tablets of Ruin
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Strength Sap
- Liquidation
- Body Press

The WALL, this thing dies to almost nothing physical. It deserved to be banned cause my god was this thing a cheat code. If you're not carrying a STAB SE move you're probably never 2HKOing this thing and if you decide to set up with an attacker that ignores Unaware, you're not gonna outboost Ssap + Curse. The cherry on top: Tablets of Ruin isn't even ignored by Mold Breaker or Photon Geyser meaning you'll always take at most 75% from a physical attack.

This team did exceptionally well, with the final version going undefeated across several matches and having 6-0'd 2/3 of the Tier Leaders of this format. (I wasn't able to fight Splodge in time sadly)

I feel like defensive archetypes are definitely underexplored in this format and it could probably become even better if more people look into it. While the recent ban of Dondozo has definitely hit (semi)stall hard, I don't believe it's the end of the archetype and it could absolutely still be the dominant one even.

Tradeabilities has been kind of dead for a while and Trademarked being the latest OM has increased some of its stocks. With that, I decided to join of these tours and build a bit, so here I am showcasing some of the sets. Take these with a grain of salt though, as I had absolutely no idea on this meta other than reading the Trademarked OP when I was building.

i was also today years old when i learned that rage fist boosts stack and didnt go away when u switched

:ss/gliscor:
Vampire Bat (Gliscor) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: stealthrock
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Protect
- Toxic
- U-turn

He's your standard Gliscor and it just gets better here as it gets Poison Heal+Trademarked which is really neat. I ran Spikes Meowscarada while I was playing, which is why it's Stealth Rock, but I'd say either works. Toxic for chip, Knock Off because it's Knock Off, pivot, and protect to heal. Standard Gliscor but it just gets better here.

:ss/slowking-galar:
Purple Frog (Slowking-Galar) @ Assault Vest
Ability: slackoff
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 144 SpA / 96 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Sludge Bomb
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam

Fairly simple Glowking, RegenVest with 4 Attacks. It's cool though because it gets Regen healing when it switches AND gets 50% healing when it swaps in. 4 attacks to chip, simple. Yes, it's a modified OU set.

:sm/blissey:
Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Heal Bell
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Soft-Boiled

I don't think this Blissey is new to the Trademarked community, though I'm just here to talk about how it kind of gets buffed. Blissey, infamous for being fat, gets Natural Cure, so everytime it switches out, it's status is cured, which is a neat addition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

failed cook attempt #1: the ugly cat

:sv/meowscarada:
Spring Seasonal (Meowscarada) @ Choice Band
Ability: spikes
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn
- Flower Trick

My thought process behind this was: oh hey i get stab uturn and set up spikes every time i switch in
Little did I know, Meowscarada turned into a Ground-Type each time because of the Spikes it set....
This would have been cool though if it worked/Protean didn't get nerfed, but I should've known that it technically used Spikes, hence Protean activated.

And with that, :Dragapult: Dragapult, :Ogerpon-Hearthflame: Ogerpon-Hearthflame, :Cetitan: Cetitan and :Gouging Fire: Gouging Fire are banned, while :Scizor: Scizor remains unbanned!

:Dragapult: (Dragapult) Dragapult is definitely quite dangerous with Dragon Darts, with multiple different sets it could use, like Assurance, Technician, Band, Dragon's Maw, Adapt with Ghost move, and more - it was extremely versatile in the amount of sets it could run. Therefore, we have decided to ban it.

:Ogerpon-Hearthflame: (Ogerpon-Hearthflame) Ogerpon is way too good here - despite being restricted to wearing the Hearthflame Mask as its item meaning it can't use Fortemons, it has insane damage. Ivy Cudgel + Solar Blade + Desolate Land + SD + 1.2x item boost + any coverage move it wants was extremely powerful, as it uses a 120 base attack stat and had a very nice speed tier of 110 base. Furthermore, to make things worse, she gets Mold Breaker, to ignore anyone using immunity abilities or Unaware to cheese her (unless, of course, they use Ability Shield, but basically no one uses that). Idk how I missed her before

:Cetitan: (Cetitan) Natural Sheer Force strikes again! Not much to say here, except that it abused Refrigerate- and Sheer Force- boosted Giga Impact (shouldn't be a surprise at this point). Combine this with Snow for Slush Rush and a 1.5x Def boost, it becomes a very fast and strong menace under snow, especially with Swords Dance as the sketch.

:Gouging Fire: (Gouging Fire) This time it's a more bulky offender again. Gouging Fire is certainly is interesting - it can abuse either offensive sets with Ddance and use combinations like Bitter Blade + Desolate Land, or it could abuse defensive sets and annoy opponents with Fluffy + Morning Sun + Burning Bulwark, which makes it very obnoxious for offensive teams as Burning Bulwark is also just a free burn on most physical attackers, effectively shutting them down without batting an eyelid. (Also yes we have banned two fire types)

:Scizor: (Scizor) This is known for being the Technician Bullet Punch spam Pokémon, except here, it can do more - Steelworker sets for extra power, or Tinted for resists, or even Loaded Dice or Skill Link Pin Missile. After an SD, it can do huge amounts of damage to offensive Pokémon, and with the removal of two strong Fire types, this can do even better. However, Bullet Punch focused sets are walled by bulkier Pokémon who can use Unaware, and it's slow so can be defeated by many Fire and Steel types still, so the council has decided to not ban it for now.

Thanks for listening, as always! I'm pinging BandedBodyPress to implement the bans while I update the code on my original post.

(P.S. I haven't brought a new ban slate for a while because I was busy with exams, but I finished today so decided I could finally put the effort into this)

Edit: Turns out two Abstains means now Dragapult is banned. Therefore I'm editing into the explanations

:hawlucha:
Despite its underwhelming stats, the combination of Mold Breaker, Unburden, Simple, and a surprisingly good offensive typing meant Hawlucha was a powerful matchup fish that could 6-0 inadequately prepared teams. One could argue that Simple was what really broke it, but Booster Energy sets are also theoretically similarly constricting and Simple currently has significant other applications in the metagame.

:smeargle:
Power Trip was banned in BH and functioned more or less identically here.

:clefable:
Ice Scales Clefable could hardwall basically any Take Heart setup and was impossibly hard to break through via outplays thanks to Magic Guard. Likewise, while matchup-fishy Fur Coat Clefable basically mandated passive setup counterplay (or pivoting + a sufficiently strong physical breaker with longevity) with Take Heart sets. While not impossible to have a gameplan against by any means, Clefable was banned for being uninteractive in-game and overly contributing to the centralization of the metagame around the combination of misc. physical breakers and Regenerator pivots.

:medicham-mega:
Choice Band Mold Breaker Medicham OHKOed neutral Arceus formes with Close Combat after any chip, and Bolt Strike OHKOed Dondozo with Bolt from full and Intimidate Toxapex after Stealth Rock. Combined with other coverage moves like Gigaton Hammer and Wicked Blow, that meant with hazard support and correct predicts Medicham could OHKO everything bar Imposter. Additionally, Choice Scarf sets with a boosting Ability could also exert ridiculous pressure, with Sword of Ruin sets 2HKOing Ho-Oh with Close Combat. All this in combination with teammates with pivoting and 100 base Speed meant Medicham was unreasonable to defensively or offensively deal with, and a ban was warranted.

:ogerpon-hearthflame:
Likewise, Choice Band Desolate Band Ogerpon-H could OHKO neutral Arceus formes with V-create after Stealth Rock and OHKO non-Eviolite Imposter after de-EVing, and coverage like Solar Blade and Diamond Storm were sufficient to handle most resists.

STAAABMONS UPDATE

Hello once more, Mashups! It's good to be back :) Just popping in with a STAAABmons balance patch as part of the tier's revival. I hope that with your help, we can send this tier into a renaissance!

Effective immediately, Garchomp, Hisuian Zoroark, Ogerpon-Water, and Roaring Moon are banned from STAAABmons.

:garchomp: Garchomp basically does whatever it wants to do, regardless of how many ground-immune Steel types are on your team. The versatility of AAA chomp further compliments the expansive movepool of the banned STABmons version, giving it an option to deal with anything you could throw at it. The worst offender was by far the Swords Dance + Loaded Dice + Technician set, which gave it a whopping 150-175 base power on its STABS, with the option of running coverage for checks or Shore Up to compliment its solid bulk while setting up.

:zoroark-hisui: Hisuian Zoroark is a Normal/Ghost type with access to Normalize + Entrainment. When combined with Spirit Shackle and Spooky Plate Judgement, Hizo is able to trap and neutralize any Pokemon with less than 110 base speed. Playing around this is immensely difficult, as you are forced to choose between letting a faster pokemon tank a 120 base power STAB Ghost attack, or having a slower pokemon attempt to pivot into a teammate who can deal with it. This is not fun, not fair, and not a novelty worth preserving.

:ogerpon-wellspring: By far the most powerful Ogerpon form thanks to its excellent typing and STAB combination, Ogerpon-Wellspring abuses Flower Trick and Ivy Cudgel to bypass nearly every common check for physical attackers; neither move makes contact and cannot be stopped by Fluffy or Burning Bulwark, the guaranteed/high crit rate makes Intimidate and Strength Sap ineffective/inconsistent, and the absurd power of Primordial Sea Ivy Cudgel is enough to blow through dedicated checks like Amoonguss and Chesnaught with a Swords Dance boost. We didn't even get into its other options, like U-Turn, Stone Axe, and Strength Sap, all of which require different counterplay.

:roaring moon: Roaring Moon can also do whatever it wants to do. The biggest offenders here have been the staple sets of Choice Item Sword of Ruin and Regenvest, and Offensive Dragon Dance can be even scarier in favorable circumstances. The presence of Roaring Moon in the tier requires every team to pack a physically defensive Fighting or Fairy type or risk getting steamrolled by a rather bulky Pokemon that outspeeds every other scarfer and 2HKOs nearly everything else. Roaring Moon has been a stifling presence in the tier and the team variety within the tier will flourish in its absence.

With these threats gone, I'd like to spotlight some lesser known sets that may benefit from the absence of these threats:

:toxapex: Toxapex @ Heavy-Duty Boots / Rocky Helmet / Black Sludge
Ability: Unaware / Fluffy / Immunity Ability
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Relaxed Nature
- Flip Turn
- Mortal Spin / Scald
- Haze / Clear Smog / Toxic Spikes
- Recover

Toxapex is no longer preyed upon by all four of the banned threats, allowing it to resume its role as a reliable bulky Water pivot with the abilty to clear hazards, remove boosts, and status opponents.

:scream tail: Scream Tail @ Choice Scarf / Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate / Unaware
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe or 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst / Moonblast
- Psystrike / Psychic Noise / Teleport
- Trick / Wish / Stealth Rock
- Flamethrower / Protect / Encore

Scream Tail is no longer outsped and heavily damaged by Roaring Moon, and now holds an excellent speed tier amongst the metagame's scarfers. Thanks to its expanded movepool, Scream Tail recieved a significant buff in Psystrike and the ability to pivot out with Teleport, greatly increasing the potency of both offensive and utility sets.

:gholdengo: Gholdengo @ Leftovers / Choice Scarf / Life Orb
Ability: Well-Baked Body / Adaptability / Magic Guard
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 28 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot / Focus Blast
- Infernal Parade / Moongeist Beam
- Recover / Trick
- Make It Rain / Thunder Wave / Steel Beam

Much like Toxapex, Gholdengo was a victim of the four recently banned threats. With them gone, its immense versatility will be able to shine in this refreshed metagame.

Enjoy the changes, and don't be afraid to ask me for test games!

MELOETTA AND TORCH SONG ARE RESTRICTED IN STAB AND MEGA

ClasYoru97Haha Gamer’dTheIronPikachuResult
MeloettaRESTRICTRESTRICTRESTRICTRESTRICT4-0-0 RESTRICT
Torch SongRESTRICTABSTAINRESTRICTRESTRICT3-0-1
RESTRICT

:meloetta: This pokemon recently got banned from STABmons and we are following suit here in STAB and Mega, it snowballed quickly with reliable healing, take heart and esper wing, and would tear through teams with little checks and even be an issue for Magearna who resists both STAB moves, as well as, other steel types.

:iron moth: While not immediately threatening, Torch Song, with its immediate +1 boost, was used by specially offensive Fire-types like Heatran and Iron Moth to take advantage of being able to force pokemon to swap out, removing the consistency of most switch-ins and answers to the likes of Clodsire, Ting-Lu and Tyranitar depending on the Torch Song user. This inconsistency in defensive counterplay made it overwhelming to play against for the majority of teams.
