Team 6
How this works
There will be 6 teams this year. Each team will have 8 starters and at least 3 subs (minimum roster size of 11). The players are bought using the 100k credits that managers receive during the auction. Managers and co-managers will be allowed to purchase themselves as players for their team at a fixed price of 12.5k. The managers must inform the hosts (Test Rex and Electra102) of all self-purchases before the beginning of the auction. Teams can win their weekly matchups by winning 5 of the 8 matches their players have to play.
This year's tiers will be: Gen 9 BH, Gen 9 BH, Gen 8 BH, Gen 7 BH, Gen 9 National Dex BH, Gen 7 PH, Gen 6 PH, Gen 6 PH Bo3.
It is recommended that all games are played on SmogTours with the current version of the format corresponding to those listed above - for tiers that are not challengeable challenge codes for the games will be provided. Games can be played on the Pokemon Showdown main server if and only if both players agree, but run a higher risk of interference from server restarts/crashes. The result between players may be decided in a best-of-one or best-of-three at both players' discretion. If both players would like to play a best-of-three, there must be an agreement that is publicly stated before the first game of the set, otherwise the result will decided in a Bo1 by default.
Points will be awarded according to the result in a week: a win is 2 points, a draw is 1 point, and a loss awards no points. In addition, the manner in which the round has been won will also be recorded, i.e. the difference between a team's wins and losses in a specific week's round (referred to as "Win Differential").
Activity Calls and Activity Wins
The player online must wait either 30 minutes from the scheduled time or 20 minutes after the team-wide tag, whichever is later.
For examples and a further explanation look at this post.
The activity timer stops when the opposing team officially confirms a substitute. This confirmation can be posted either in the respective week thread or in the shared HPL Discord. Both methods are equally valid and will stop the timer.
Playoffs:
Each team will play one another in a round-robin regular season format. Based on the final standings, the top 4 teams will enter the knockout phase of the tournament, with the semi-finals consisting of the first seed playing the fourth seed, and the second seed playing the third seed. Finals will then consist of the winners of each semi-final draw.
Tiebreaker
In the event of two teams being tied for a spot in the finals based on points and win differential, or there is a tie in the final round itself, we will have a tiebreaker round(s).
Tiebreak Procedure:
Both teams submit one meta. The tiebreaker will consist of both team's choices and gen9 BH (gen 9 BH can't be chosen by either team).
In the event of both teams choosing the same meta, the third slot will be chose at random between the remaining tournament metas.
Substitutes
Substitutes are to be used in the case of extenuating circumstances, whether on the first day of the week, or the last. At the same time, players should be relatively well-aware of who all are available to play in the opponent's camp. If last-minute substitutes are being frequently used or abused and the hosts find explanations unsatisfactory, the hosts still reserve the right to veto them. Teams are only granted a maximum of two substitutes per week to prevent the abuse of substitutions. Any substitutions after the second will be vetoed.
To make a substitution, ping the player being subbed in, the player being subbed, the oposing player, the managers of the oposing team and the hosts.
Trades
There will be no trades this year - all roster decisions will be final, so draft carefully!
Application of rulings made during HPL I
The revocation of the “imposter asking for sets” rule remains in effect, as stated in this post. As a result, asking for the set of an impostered pokemon does not count as ghosting.
Players who were banned in the previous edition of the tournament will be allowed to participate, provided they reach out to one of the hosts to demonstrate good faith and a clear departure from the behavior that led to their initial ban.
Rebalancing/tiering bans made to gen7BH via polling remain in effect, as explained in this post. As a result Shell Smash and Sleep-inducing moves remain BANNED from gen7BH.
Tournament rewards
Winning team all get access to profile banners (or 4999 likes if they already have one)
Winning team users will gain a special role in OMs discord and PH discord, alogside a dedicated emoji.
In adition, to the best of my ability, I will draw art for the results of the tournament, as I did for HPL I.
