This is a very long shot: after a long hiatus, I recently started replaying an old copy of Black 2 (cartridge) and would like to RNG shiny legends, but I never checked my SID before Pokecheck went down.

Is there still a way to retrieve my SID? I do have all the later generations, if there are more options there, although I'm not tech-savvy enough to use external tools like CFW or PxHex, which I saw recommended during my search. Thanks for any advice!

the easiest options are probably going to be getting someone/thing else to read your SID for you. you could either connect to https://pkmnclassic.net/gts/ and arrange to trade over GTS with someone that does have PKHeX access, or send a caught pokemon from the cart up to switch and find a trade bot to read it for you. there are also some tools like entralinked that can connect just over wifi and might let you pull pokemon files that you can read SID from, but i'm not entirely sure.

If you can send a copy of a wild-caught Pokemon (that originated from that particular save file) to a Switch title, you can trade it to someone who has the ability to check there. You can ask in the simple questions/requests thread

Thanks so much! For future members who have the same question, Entralinked as recommended earlier should be able to work to get SID in Gen 5. Unfortunately, I'm having some trouble connecting my console to the DNS address, so if I can't debug it, I may ask in the simple questions / requests thread after all.
