I think that Magearna having to deal with Mega Excadill now is the idea.
Which is a bit counter intuitive since now we have to deal with Magearna in Grass Terrain.

Okay ykw, removing soul heart from Dnite was a mistake imo. That ability gave the thing genuinely cleaning potential but now it's about to rely on 70% accurate hurricanes for some mid wallbreaking power that alot of other things can pull off better.
Sand rush mega drill is INSANE, like, 165 attack + double speed? Don't think it's gonna be broken, just think it opens up more ideas for the thing (before was kind of just a slightly better utility drill.) it's also the ability it's PROBABLY going to get.
I cannot wait to mess around with chestnaut now. This seems genuinely good.

Im fine with the Ape ban, we got to use it plenty by now, but still surprised its seen as worse than Mage
I do love how Strong Mega Dragonite feels now - feels like a bit like Lando-I / Zard-Y in terms of power. But it does fucking suck how every single one of its moves that pack a punch like Hurricane, Focus Blast, etc. have such terrible accuracy. You at least have good bulk + Roost so you get a decent number of opportunities to spam attacks vs bulkier teams but its not ideal. I will say I do love that 100 Speed tier since it does allow this mon to completely dominate a few slightly slower foes like Gholdengo, Ceruledge, etc if you hit. Defensive utility in general is solid, but 4x weakness to Ice Beam does undercut it a fair bit. Faster guys like Latios and Keldeo are annoying.
I'm curious if others can try running utility moves on these special sets like T-Wave, Defog, etc + extra bulk investment. I think these moves could really unlock Mega Dragonite's potential to make it a multifaceted mon as opposed to just your average wallbreaker. It is a bit tough to come up with the ideal coverage combination with this mon that hits everything you need to hit, so fitting utility moves is hard. IMO base Charizard is better for the offensive Defog role just because of Boots - but maybe Dragonite has some tech I am not thinking about.
I think Dragon Dance sets may also have more potential now - running something like DD Dragon Rush Fire Punch Iron Head - with Iron Head being notable to cook Clefable. That said needing to rely on Gambling with Dragon Rush does suck and the damage output from Dragon Rush is not much better than Loaded Dice Scale Shot - so this set does seem a bit fringe. Sheer Force is definitely an upgrade.
Mega Dragonite is too weak and vulnerable to use Soul-Heart effectively. There is no special version of Dragon Dance, so you couldn’t score the KOs you needed to sweep.
Sheer Force gives you power immediately without needing to score KOs. So you do more damage when you start out, and in cases where you need to switch (Ice Shard Bax, Scarf Keldeo, Prankster Thunder Wave, etc.), you can keep your power boosts.
I guess. It just makes dnite more reliable on super inacurate moves (Mostly hurricane) to keep that damage boost.
I feel like it deserves something more like no guard for more offensive prowess, as it would actually not need to rely on stuff that can or even magic guard (honestly very good thematically, just look at the guy) to be better defensively.

No idea why Ape went before Mag though. But it is what it is.
imo Annihilape was a bit stronger than Magearna.
Double Dance is incredibly strong, but Excadrill is everywhere and without Light Clay support, Draining Kiss/Stored Power wouldn’t be strong enough to KO most ground types, among some other issues. That isn’t to say Magearna isn’t broken or couldn’t patch up those issues with teammates or dipping into its massive movepool, but the most common sweeper set can be stopped at least.
Annihilape is a Pokemon you can’t attack unless you’re certain you can KO it, which is something really hard to do for any teams besides HO.
However now that Mega Chesnaught has Grassy Surge, Magearna is now definitely more broken than Annihilape. That’s partly why I wanted Chesnaught to get Dauntless Shield or something. Grassy Terrain eliminates Earthquake as a threat and lets you boost Stored Power even further.
Just run a mon with Roar like Swampert. Heatran, Volcanion, Hippowdon, and this double dance set ya'll complain about 24/7 cant do shit. Or run your own Encore Mag which shuts down 90% of these stored power variants while providing Spikes utility + Pivoting. On offensive builds, you have Ceruledge and Ghold which can cook mag as well. And Exca always has the option of running High Horsepower if you want.
I'd be more receptive to Mag complaints if people brought up sets to maybe beat the usual standard checks - stuff like Aura Sphere, Specs, etc. But no, its just endless complaining about SP, making me think the issue is simply that most of the people here aren't looking for counterplay and want to ban this mon just cause they got swept once. This set is very likely not to do much against any team packing spdef mag unless you run specific moves.
With Ape, NONE of this shit worked - Taunt made it so couldn't phase it, Status was unreliable because if restalk, and every single check could be brute forced past with Rage fist. The fact that clicking Watefall with Dondozo could be a game losing play against Annihilape because it let its Rage Fist Break past Clefable should be enough of an indictment as to why its significantly more broken than mag - while also not bringing nearly as many benefits to tier.
Using Roar Swampert doesn’t solve the issue of Magearna.
Even assuming it is just the standard Shift Gear + Calm Mind set, +1 Draining Kiss is doing a hefty chunk to Swampert each time.

You Roar it out, then what? Magearna can always come back in eventually. Each time, taking more off Swampert's health that it'll only get back through leftovers and miraculously not taking damage for multiple turns.
And this doesn't mention how Magearna has 20 different movesets it can have thanks to having all the coverage it needs. It has Energy Ball/Grass Knot, Aura Sphere/Focus Blast, Fleur Cannon, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, etc. Then Magearna could easily be running something other than Shift Gear + Calm Mind. It can use Specs, Assault Vest, Spikes, Trick Room, can use Encore, and more. It's a massive wild card, and if you guess wrong your punishment ranges from tanking a lot of damage to losing on the spot.
It's like how Armarouge in VGC was hated before open team sheets since guessing if Armarouge was using Trick Room set or Weak Armor set wrong usually cost you the match.
yo this tier suddenly became fireHello, kinda big slate incoming. This one is bigger than normal because we're restricted on how many changes we can make for the duration of SoloPL (only 3 slates for the duration of the tour), so we wanted to be somewhat heavy handed.
We focused on making some of the weaker megas more viable, as well as making some of the more overcentralizing megas less dominant. Also we banned Annihilape.

Primeape also has Rage Fist, and we know that isn't broken with that move
If we apply the 4.52% threshold, only 7 Megas had enough usage to be OU lol sheesh. With 93 total Megas now (and two more on the way in a future update), the opportunity cost is way too high

it is not as big as Mega Heatran was with earth eaterngl levitate is HUGE for mega glimmora. getting rid of a 4x weakness is already good, but making it an outright immunity could give it some actually surviveable switch-ins. tbch base glimmora as a hazard setter or Meteor Beam Jumpscareis still better, but at least the mega might have a niche.
I really hope the official games allow using two megas on a team, because there's genuinely so many right now, that the average team could reasonably choose at least 3 of the mons on it to be a mega
GameFreak really needs to do is just redo or rebalance all the Megas.
There is clearly a massive gap between Megas and how good they are. So much so that some Megas definitely should have their stats redistributed. Especially the ZA Megas. There is a massive power gap between the Z Megas (who will be busted in the real game) and Scovillain.

played new meta a lil so here are my thoughts
-Chesnaught Mega : Really huge buff for this guy. I have mostly been using as a SD breaker, altho i think its true calling is as a terrain setter who can RK. This mon pairs well with CM sweepers and steels as a rillaboom would, it does have a significant downside in that you have to stay in and give up tempo if you want terrain up
-Clefable Mega: Crazy good buff, prankster encore on a mon with real bulk is a very nice check to the offense running around, you can also lock grounds into eq as u mega so thats funny too. I genuinely think CM/cosmic clefs can afford to hold the megastone and abuse prankster if necessary.
-Excadrill-Mega: Great buff, Chesnaught is pretty popular rn tho so it isnt running free. Not sure if it will be a problem considering how common rotom-w, corvi, tank chomp are rn. Also will stilll probably struggle to compete against its non-mega version on any team that isnt sand.
-Dragonite-Mega: Strong breaker, very reminiscent of zard-y, you gotta hit ur moves tho sooooo run it in gravity ig idk :). It can also now more viably run a DD sweeper set with boosted elemental punches. Not having a viable SF boosted dragon move does kinda suck tho.
-Misc.
I like all the nerfs, pod spikes teams were pretty obnoxious so happy that style has been weakened. Balance/bulky teams still should be very viable. Don't think anything really needs a ban, meta should be allowed to develop. This tier has plenty of options for anti-offense + anti balance/stallbreaking, so teambuilding feels fun.
Have some teams for ur time
- grassy ft. SD chesnaught & sub keld
- gravity webs ft. zap cannon m-dnite (-fun)
