The ZU Low-Budget Tournament!
Due to the new metas eating our funds, you will have a limited budget for teambuilding. You're given a certain budget (changes each round!), and the price of a Pokemon is based on their placement in the Viability Rankings. So for example, Venusaur will take a large amount of your budget, 15$, while the cheap alternative Victreebel will only cost you 5$. This tournament tests your teambuilding skills on a whole new level, forcing you to build your team around the budget you're given.

- THIS TOURNAMENT IS NOT PART OF THE 2026 ZU CIRCUIT
- This tournament is single-elimination.
- Players will play a best of one series of SV ZU each round, but they can both agree to play a best of three instead if they so wish.
- Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!--- main server or smogtours should work.
- If you don't post the replay or send it to me in a PM, you'll have to redo the match or I will coinflip.
- If Pokemon are banned after a round is posted, they remain unbanned for the rest of the round.
- You can use less than 6 Pokemon and you can spend less than the budget if you want.
- The list of Pokemon will be affected by VR changes for the remainder of the tournament.
- Be mindful that prices might be subjected to variations during the tournament, depending on the economic situation of the tier (this will not occur r1).

- Species Clause: A player cannot have two Pokémon with the same Pokédex number on his team.
- Sleep Clause: You cannot inflict sleep upon more than one member of the opposing team.
- Evasion Clause: The moves Double Team and Minimize are banned.
- OHKO Clause: The moves Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, and Fissure are banned.
- Endless Battle Clause: Anything capable of intentionally creating an endless battle is banned.
In the event that there is an uncompleted match at the deadline, it will be coin flipped unless one or both of the players involved in the match specifically request an activity win and explain sufficiently why they deserve to win over their opponent, or if hosts determine an activity win was earned based on public contact. Attempting to schedule a battle is required in order to receive the win by activity. To make it clear that you are requesting an activity win when you post, you must open your post with "Activity Win Request" in bold.
For example, if you believe your opponent is making an unfair request and that they don't deserve the activity win over you, you can either make your own request or quote their post and explain why they don't deserve it. You should try to make your activity win request posts at least 24 hours before the deadline to give your opponent a reasonable opportunity to contest it with their own activity win request.
Host discretion will be applied for all unplayed games. This means that an activity win will not be automatically granted if you post, and a lack of posts does not automatically result in a coin flip.
