Welcome to the final round of this year's Official Smogon Tournament! The OST is one of Smogon's longest standing traditions in tournaments and has crowned many great Pokémon players as its champions across five generations. Over the next few months, over a thousand players will compete to the best of their ability as they attempt to join the exclusive ranks of the OST trophy holders. Two remain. Only one of these players will succeed in their journey and earn the recognition that comes with their victory, along with the iconic OST trophy.

The tournament will have a best of three format. This means that players will play until one of them wins two games. Players are allowed to switch teams in between games, or use the same team throughout the set; it is completely up to the player. If players only partially complete a series before the deadline, it will be considered an uncompleted match and action will be taken accordingly (either an activity win or a coin flip).

Just like last year, there will be a cash prize for this tournament! The winner of this year's Official Smogon Tournament will receive 200 USD!

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or a tournament director!

  • REPLAYS WILL BE REQUIRED IN YOUR WINPOST STARTING IN ROUND 2
OST Specific Rules
  • This is a standard SV OU tournament.
  • The tournament will be single elimination.
  • Players will play a best of three series of games each round
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!. If you can't agree on which server to play on, the Smogtours server is the default option.
  • Liking this post increases the accuracy of your Focus Blasts.
Standard Rules and Clauses
  • Species Clause: A player cannot have two of the same Pokémon on their team. For example, a player cannot have two Koffing on his or her team.
  • Sleep Moves Clause: A player cannot use moves that induce Sleep status on the opponent in their Pokemon's movesets.
  • Evasion Clause: A player cannot use the moves Double Team or Minimize in their Pokémon's movesets.
  • OHKO Clause: Players cannot use Horn Drill, Guillotine, Sheer Cold, or Fissure in any of their Pokémon's movesets.
  • Team Preview: Players must turn on the Team Preview feature where players can view the opposing team's Pokémon and choose their lead Pokémon.
  • Timer Clause: If a player exhausts the timer, he/she loses.
  • Endless Battle Clause: Any moveset on any Pokémon that is capable of intentionally causing an endless battle is banned from competitive play. Check this thread for more information.
  • Baton Pass Clause: The move Baton Pass is banned outright.
  • Uber Clause: Players may not use any items, moves, abilities, or Pokemon that appear on Smogon's OU Ban List. If the tiers change or new items, abilities, moves, or Pokemon become available in the middle of a round, the changes will take effect in the following round. There will be an announcement in the relevant round if this occurs.
About Activity Decisions

Activity Decisions / Coin Flips
: In the event that there is an uncompleted match at the deadline, it will be coin flipped if neither player clearly deserves the activity win or one or both of the players involved in the match fail to specifically request an activity win and explain sufficiently why they deserve to win over their opponent. Attempting to schedule a battle is required in order to receive the win by activity. To make it clear that you are requesting an activity win when you post, you should open your post with "Activity Win Request" in bold.

For example, if you believe your opponent is making an unfair request and that they don't deserve the activity win over you, you can either make your own request or quote their post and explain why they don't deserve it. You should try to make your activity win request posts at least 24 hours before the deadline to give your opponent a reasonable opportunity to contest it with their own activity win request.

In case of disconnections, if you played in the SmogTours server, call a Tournament Director as soon as possible and we'll see about the possibility of having a rematch.

General Tournament Rules

Pretty solid paths for both players, very interesting to see both upset their semis opps & prevent what could have been a finals between 2 well established players. Instead, we have two players who've been grinding both ladder & side tours with their only official sheet games being from WCoP, coincidentally both playing for Africa. No matter who wins, I have a feeling both will have the opportunity to do great things and become well established players.

And finally, go SirPeanutCronch

SILENT WALTZ!!! THIS PATH IS TOO MUCH AURA

Just want to say congrats to you both on these great, surprising runs. Nobody would’ve predicted this final at the start of the tournament or even a month ago, but you both trusted in yourselves and made it work. That’s really impressive to me. Whoever wins will be very deserving and Africa has a bright future in SV OU.

I just want to chime in and say a lot of people on Discord & PS (even in the OU room lol) have been discrediting their runs or the tournament because these finalists aren’t the most known or previously proven players. I feel like this is a lazy response and how we stifle the community from growing.

The game constantly is evolving and this should incentivize newer players ramping up their effort and involvement. SV OU rewards people being in touch with the current form of the metagame, grinding it out on ladder or with friends, knowing the best lines to execute their own strategy, etc. I am not saying either of these two have done a perfect job, but winning this many series against great players cannot be a coincidence! Should be a great final.

Pulling for Silent Waltz since we have had some fun series against each other and he seems like a good dude.

100. SirPeanutCronch vs 121. Silent Waltz

Really fun finals that guarantees the first African individual trophy winner (I'm pretty sure), and if SirPeanutCronch wins they'll become the newest individual trophy winner (passing Nov 8 2022 joindate Feyy) and the first winner of an individual trophy that's not OSDT with a joindate from 2020 or later, only narrowly missing out by a few weeks on the title of newest winner of a trophy, period.

Just because I have a lot of data that I don't want to go to waste, I'll have some fun here. First, all SV OU data that I could find for both players:

SirPeanutCronch:
  • WCOP 2025: 1-3
  • STour 2025 (SV livetours): 18 points
  • OUPL 2025: 0-1
Silent Waltz:
  • WCOP 2025: 2-2
  • WCOP 2024: 1-2
  • STour 2025 (SV livetours): 6 points
  • OST 2025: 33rd
  • OUPL 2025: 3-3
  • OU Spring Seasonal 2025: 13th
Second, here are their bracket paths, ordered according to my attempt to seed the tour before it started:

SirPeanutCronch:
  • W vs 17. vk
  • W vs 20. Mada
  • W vs 87. Sabella
  • W vs 108. prav33n
  • W vs 247. Gochan
  • W vs 318. YouanMingxue
  • W vs 318. bring it on
  • W vs 318. Bocoaa
  • W vs 318. Raahel
Silent Waltz:
  • W vs 3. Vert
  • W vs 21. Finchinator
  • W vs 22. ima
  • W vs 74. DonSalvatore
  • W vs 96. Pinecoishot
  • W vs 233. Uber45
  • W vs 318. Azluc On Top
  • W vs 318. Sanesa8724
  • W vs 318. Zong200
Third, what would their brackets have looked like without upsets? i.e. would SirPeanutCronch have faced a different opponent in top 8 if not for DonSalvatore's own upsets? This one's just for fun (and obviously you can rate these players differently and end up with a different answer to this question):

SirPeanutCronch:
  • vs 318. Raahel
  • vs 318. bocoaa
  • vs 318. bring it on
  • vs 60. Luispeikou (reality: Trickster7 def. Luispeikou, Sabella def. Trickster7)
  • vs 108. prav33n
  • vs. 107. Drifting (reality: Gochan def. Drifting)
  • vs 17. vk
  • vs 2. mind gaming (reality: Ryuji def. mind gaming, Lazuli def. Ryuji, YouanMingxue def. Lazuli)
  • vs 1. Storm Zone (reality: purbaj def. Storm Zone, Mada def. purbaj)
Silent Waltz:
  • vs 233. Uber45
  • vs 21. Finchinator
  • vs 318. Zong200
  • vs 160. Leroipolux (reality: Sanesa8724 def. Leroipolux)
  • vs 46. freezai (reality: Azluc On Top def. freezai)
  • vs 3. Vert
  • vs 19. SoulWind (reality: RuanTheBuilder def. SoulWind, Pinecoishot def. RuanTheBuilder)
  • vs 5. Fusien (reality: aim def. Fusien, leng loi def. aim, DonSalvatore def. leng loi)
  • vs 4. Nat (reality: lax def. Nat, zuzhouwawa def. lax, Isza def. zuzhouwawa, Axzel def. Isza, ima def. Axzel)
Whoever wins this tour would likely be one of the biggest underdogs to take a trophy this decade, maybe the biggest? Excluding OSDT, that title probably goes to LpZ in Slam 2024 or Vert in OST 2023? It's plausible to me that either of these two finalists would be even bigger Cinderella stories than that, but I haven't really checked in depth. Rooting for both of them! I'd predict Silent Waltz to win, but personally I think it'd be cooler to see a zoomer joindate finally pick up an individual here! Good luck to both players :))

ngl i predicted silent waltz to lose many times in this ost when he met some good players, but he used his good performances to prove i was wrong. he has made pretty great progress in the past 1 year. now i will predict silent waltz to claim the golden trophy, cuz he has beat stronger opps and played cleaner games so far, which means he has better pure skills.
