Hello,

since many people are talking about Arcotvish Sets, i want to take that chance to talk about an entirely different Arctovish-Set here.

I had good experiences so far with this Arctovish-Set:

:ss/arctovish:
Arctovish @ Choice Band
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fishious Rend
- Icicle Crash
- Psychic Fangs / Crunch
- Freeze-Dry

This Set allows Arctovish to complete its role as a powerful wallbreaker, since there arent many water-resists in the tier Fishious Rend is rather spamable and anything else can get hit with Icicle Crash / Frezze-Dry, which are its secondary STAB-Options.
Psychic Fangs is able to hit Roselia and Throh whereas Crunch is able to hit a lot of pokémon in the tier like Musharna, Trevenant, Meowstic-Forms and other relevant Psychic-types in the tier.
Good support pokémon for this specific Set are Volt-Turn-Users, which are able to bring in Arctovish at the right Moment. I choose Manectric with the Choice Scarf-Set and Silvally-Dark with U-Turn and its Coverage-Option is Fire Fang, since Mawile is still a good switchin with its good typing in Fairy/Steel, so you are able to chip it down slowly but surely.

:ss/Manectric:
Manectric @ Choice Scarf

Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flamethrower
- Toxic

:ss/Silvally-Dark:
Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory

Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Swords Dance
- U-turn
- Fire Fang

In general I think the Pu-tier sadly lacks good Stealth Rock-Setters, I think Mawile, can act as a good Rocks-Setter and I think Stonjourner can really help there too, this is the Set i run with it:
:ss/Stonjourner:
Stonjourner @ Leftovers
Ability: Power Spot
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge / Rock Blast
- Earthquake
- Body Press / Supoerpower
- Stealth Rock

This is the entire team i ran, which brought me some success, it is basically Volt-Turn-Support with CB Arctovish and 2 Setup-Pokémon which are Darkvally and Musharana. The rest are just there to guarantee (slow) Momentum and support via Hazard-Setting and hazard-Removal.
Pokepaste: https://pokepast.es/63e52bd0588f370c

I think arena trap should be banned or at least suspect testes once pu beta is released.
One of the current best spinners and hazard setters, carkol, is the most obvious one, but also pokemon like stonjourner cant ohko it with eviolite and takes 68-80 % damage, leaving it open to easy revenge kills
c3af785f66952c2.png

Even grass types arent safe:
252+ Atk Choice Band Trapinch First Impression vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bellossom: 282-332 (79.6 - 93.7%)

252+ Atk Choice Band Trapinch First Impression vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ludicolo: 362-426 (120.2 - 141.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
OHKOing even ludicolo with a +2 priority move makes it an effective emergency check against rain, although not against many other rain abusers but many rain, and other weather setters like liepard, vulpix and snover(which isnt as good right now but still an option)

Many offensive choice locked threats also get trapped and killed with ease. Some examples are raichu(252 SpA Life Orb Raichu Surf vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Trapinch: 250-294 (85 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO), manectric, solrock (does not get trapped, but is scared of first impression)same with lunatone, sudowoodo and pinchurchin, which you even outspeed

Against very offensive teams trapinch can (even if it cant trap anything) put on some big pressure with choice band first impression, but choice band gives you a worse matchup against offense that is not ho. Even sash is an option sometimes
diglett.png

The other trapper ist diglett, which is far weaker but also ties for the 14th fastest pokemon in the tier. I haven't seen much of it because trapinch is better, but i have seen them on the same team as well. Seeing as trapinch couldnt ohko many pokemon, you could simply come in with diglett and have some easy pickings. This is pretty gimmicky thought, since having two frail ground types isnt good, but it can be good at times.

You all can prove me wrong and i will definitely accept it if it is reasonable.

Now forgive me if I have made any mistakes,I am only in 8th grade and thus my writing obviously has mistakes.

Stone run mostly heat crash in the third slot... Is a great mon rn but he has the lowest spdef in the game same as Magikarp lol...

Been having a lot of fun with this meta but Ive seen a lot of sleeper mons not being talked about on here despite getting really solid results in the PU Alpha Tour and just generally doing well for me in ladder. Idt any of these are specially newly created by me but just shit that Ive decided to try out and hasnt been talked about here:

Pikachu @ Light Ball
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Jolly / Hasty Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Volt Tackle
- Knock Off / Surf

Somehow we got to a point in which Pika is a really solid pick for teams in PU. The combination of Fake Out + Extreme Speed is absolutely devastating for most non-bulky Pokemon in the tier, while its coverage options allow it to put in incredible amounts of work vs. walls that might wanna switch-in. The high usage of Silv-Ground might turn some people off from this Pokemon, but the calcs show how Pika is able to break through even Pokemon like that with its respective Surf coverage as well as some nice double priority. Pokemon like Carkol and Mawile obviously hate taking Surf, same with Silvally Ground itself, but bulky ghosts really hate losing their Colbur berry early on and Knock Off is generally better utility vs. those bulkier mons. Ive seen a lot of talk about Persian, and while they do fulfill different options one being a cleaner while the other is more of a pivot, Pika definitely deserves a lot more representation, since its success rate is slowly turning it into one of the most threatening cleaners this tier can have, while also dealing with potentially terrifying threats in the current meta such as Ninjask as well as weather.
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Ground: 54-64 (16.3 - 19.3%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Ground: 107-126 (32.3 - 38%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ninjask: 96-113 (36.5 - 42.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ninjask: 190-224 (72.2 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ludicolo: 68-81 (22.5 - 26.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Extreme Speed vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ludicolo: 136-161 (45.1 - 53.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Volt Tackle vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Musharna: 183-216 (41.9 - 49.5%) -- 85.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
-1 252 Atk Light Ball Pikachu Volt Tackle vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mawile: 121-144 (39.8 - 47.3%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
4 SpA Light Ball Pikachu Surf vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mawile: 121-143 (39.8 - 47%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

As shown by the calcs, Pika is able to threaten to 3HKO or 2HKO most of the tier, even defensive Pokemon after a tiny bit of chip. Of course something to take into account when utilizing Pika is that this isnt your usual "click, click" mon, since it might require a bit of prediction and adequate support to deal with expected switch-ins, necessary chip, as well as to cover for its weakness to Pokemon like the aformentioned Silvally-Ground, or just dealing with its obvious terrible defensive stats.

Silvally-Poison @ Poison Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 HP / 104 Def / 152 Spe
Impish Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Defog

Silvally-Poison @ Poison Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Swords Dance

Silv Poison is another great mon that I cant get enough of in this meta. The combination of Multi Attack + Flamethrower is almost impossible to switch into safely bar Pokemon like Mareanie (which people should also try out more), but the defensive support that it can provide is often more than it might seem at first. Its not only the fact that this mon is able to deal nicely with Mawile, Roselia as well as Grass-types, but Silv Poison is also able to be a great Anti-Sun measurement.

Type: Null @ Eviolite
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SpD
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Toxic
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Not much to see here but Type:Null already has an almost flawless MU vs. most special attackers, but this set allows it to put up a fight vs. Pokemon it might not otherwise beat such as Bellossom, Musharna as well as being a great way of punishing switch-ins into Ghost-types such as Gourgeist. I dont think this should be used regularly but its a neat little option if you struggling with Type:Nulls pacivity. This pretty much turns it into an equally annoying Special Wall that can now punish other annoying physical walls at the cost of struggling vs. other special attackers such as Raichu, etc. If youre able to Toxic and then get a slow pivot into a great revenge killer (like Pika) this will definitely be able to perform nicely.

Roselia @ Choice Specs
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Extrasensory
- Toxic Spikes

Ludicolo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast

Lastly these are just two special wallbreakers Ive been trying which Ill cover in unison cause idt theres much to say about them. Specs Rose is simply nice for breaking thru teams that might rely on Sp. Def Clef or Mawile as their respective Special wall and Grass resist. Rose is also able to utilize Extrasensory to deal with other potential switch-ins such as Silvally-Poison, Throh, other Roselia. Its ability to force switch ins also allows it to be great at setting T-Spikes.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Roselia Leaf Storm vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Mawile: 234-276 (77.2 - 91%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Roselia Sludge Bomb vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Clefairy: 254-300 (73.8 - 87.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Roselia Extrasensory vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Eviolite Roselia: 134-158 (44.2 - 52.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Roselia Extrasensory vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Throh: 192-228 (43.2 - 51.3%) -- 6.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

I wanted to try out Ludicolo and I see that a lot of people are struggling with the Rain Dance set due to the amount of Trapinch, Persian, Ninjask and Pika, so I decided to kinda flip the switch into a more threatening Ludi that can make use of Leaf Storm and its perfect coverage to really put a dent on teams, not so much as a cleaner but as a solid wallbreaker.

Final thoughts:

Eject Pack Manectric is cool, Raichu is another sleeper mon people should use more, Chinchou is viable, Future Sight Musharna is still good, AV Grapp is quite decent, Eiscue isnt as bad as most people say, Arena trap is dumb, Ninjask is really annoying, Honedge is underrated. Thank you for reading!

Some observations:
- Mawile and Silvally are still everywhere, no surprises there
- Ground is still the most-used Silvally, with Dragon as a close second
- Raichu is being slept on again :(
- Swoobat is back up in usage
- Manectric has an even worse winrate
- Arctovish has a stupidly high winrate

:sm/pawniard:
Pawniard kinda fresh doe (and not in UU this time)

Great dual STABs, a phenomenal Defog check, and access to strong STAB priority makes it an incredibly strong win-con and a phenomenal answer to common hazard removers in the tier such as Noctowl or a weakened Silvally. The latter's Parting Shot/Defogs.... yikes. It's worth noting it hard loses to Fighting/Ground variants, but it can pick off the latter with Sucker Punch if it is already considerably chipped. Additionally, the overall slow speed of the tier also works to its benefit, as it is also able to easily outrun the mons it checks and even nail some offensive Pokemon as well, such as Arctovish or offensive Mawile. What's also nice is its ability to pry apart defensive cores with its aforementioned dual stabs and shred the common Clefairy and defensive Mawile (Intimidate only raising its attack).

That being said, this thing is frail. And, despite outpacing a lot of defensive mons and some offensive ones, most Silvally, Throh, and Stonjourner give it an extremely hard time switching in and staying in to capitalize on Defogs. Whether its speed is just straight up bad, has a poor type matchup, or is just frail, there's no denying that Pawniard is by no means fit for balance or bulky squads. I believe Pawniard best shines on Hyper Offense, where such things as Pincurchin can hazard stack, and Pawniard can threaten against use of Defog thanks to its wonderful ability and niche as a whole. Additionally, it greatly appreciates Web support. You have things like Charjabug or Shuckle to set them and allow Pawniard to break bulky squads, and if they want to get speed control back, they have to endure great punishment from Pawniard's +2 (or maybe even +4) STAB Iron Heads/Knock Offs. HO is also useful in the aspect that its usual checks in Silvally and Throh can be greatly whittled down by teammates and allow for Sucker Punch/Iron Head to clean in the late game.

Overall, super cool mon. I expect this thing to pretty much be a staple on HO if it isn't already based on the usage stats I'm seeing
Just wanted to piggy-back off of this. So this is the set I've been running

Pawniard @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

This thing basically does the exact opposite of what I initially expected. When I first slapped it on my team, I thought it'd be a bulky tank that's somewhat weak without a Defiant boost. What I got instead was a Pokemon that can easily dish out pain but can hardly take a hit, especially on the special side. I'm thinking about swapping out Eviolite for Black Glasses to boost its damage without cutting into its (already middling) longevity.

Also worth noting is that I don't find myself clicking Swords Dance very often, often either going for an attack right away or relying on a Defiant boost. It does get some pretty nice support options like Stealth Rock, Thunder Wave, and Taunt, so you could probably slap those on if you want.

I agree that this'll probably only really find a role on HO or hazard-centered teams. It's not bulky enough, fast enough, or even strong enough to fill up a slot on balance. But it can easily punish hazard-removal since Defog is so rare, and punishing Parting Shot is always nice (well, until Silvally starts running U-turn instead). So yeah. Pretty good.

Some observations:
- Mawile and Silvally are still everywhere, no surprises there
- Ground is still the most-used Silvally, with Dragon as a close second
- Raichu is being slept on again :(
- Swoobat is back up in usage
- Manectric has an even worse winrate
- Arctovish has a stupidly high winrate
Also Persian has ben top 10 with a >60% winrate always... in round 3 Stones has a great usage rate with a high winrate, maybe is time to use WaterPulse in Persian....

Hey I'm back with some pretty cool ideas after some time in this new meta and spoilers, it's more Grapploct from me lol, and here's what i came up with:

Grapploct @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 196 Def
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Brutal Swing
- Sucker Punch

So this is a slight variation from the set I posted in the speculation thread a while back, s/o to TJ fro reminding me this had priority, but BU Grapploct is really solid overall, tanking hits from the physical side and having reliable recovery in Drain Punch. The HP + Defense investment lets Grapploct take a Choice Banded Fishious Rend from Jolly Arctovish after Stealth Rock, although you could make Grapploct Impish with the same EV spread to take a Fishious Rend from Adamant Arctovish if you so choose with the rest thrown into Attack to boost the power of its attacks.

252 Atk Choice Band Arctovish Fishious Rend (170 BP) vs. 252 HP / 196 Def Grapploct: 288-340 (79.1 - 93.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

60+ Atk Grapploct Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Arctovish: 218-258 (67.9 - 80.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Grapploct @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 156 HP / 252 Atk / 100 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Brutal Swing
- Sucker Punch
- Ice Punch

This was a bit trickier to nail down speed wise, but regardless, Banded Grapploct is really good being able to 2HKO Mawile with Close Combat after Intimidate. Everything else on the set is pretty straightforward with Ice Punch mainly there to 2HKO things like PhysDef Vespiquen and hitting Firies like Shiinotic or the super rare Togetic. The speed is enough to outpace Gourgeist-XL so you can 2HKO it with Brutal Swing on the switchin.

-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Grapploct Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mawile: 160-190 (52.6 - 62.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Grapploct Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Vespiquen: 180-212 (52.3 - 61.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Technician Grapploct Brutal Swing vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 190-224 (50.8 - 59.8%) -- 84% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Grapploct @ Assault Vest
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Brutal Swing
- Sucker Punch
- Ice Punch

The vibes of AV Crabominable have returned! While not as good as Crabominable, AV Grapploct can still sponge up special attacks pretty well, and it's an AV mon with recovery so it's HJAD approved, but regardless if you need a switchin to stuff like Manectric, Lapras, etc. without losing out on offensive power, look no further than this.

252 SpA Choice Specs Manectric Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Grapploct: 117-138 (32.1 - 37.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Glaceon Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Grapploct: 148-175 (40.6 - 48%) -- 5.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

4+ Atk Grapploct Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Glaceon: 188-224 (69.3 - 82.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

4+ Atk Grapploct Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Manectric: 156-184 (55.5 - 65.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Also wanted to address a few things I saw throughout the thread, my apologies if these were answered already by someone else.

I wanna contribute something to this discussion, so Imma share the Webs user I've been loving the most so far.

Charjabug @ Eviolite
Ability: Battery
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Sticky Web
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- Filler

Okay first off, this thing gets a signature ability? I mean, it's useless in singles, but I could've sworn it just got Swarm or something.

But back on topic, the reason why I think this is one of the better ones is because of its access to Volt Switch. Coupled with it's good bulk, decent typing, and low speed, it can switch in and pivot out pretty easily. The moves are pretty self explanatory, with Toxic making up for its lack of offense. The filler slot can really be anything since it's movepool is kinda dreadful. I used to run Discharge until I realized how many Electric-immunities there are in the tier. I've been using X-Scissor instead. Other options include Thunder Wave, Light Screen (It doesn't learn Reflect lol) or Rest.

It basically has no offensive potential, but then again neither does its competition. At least Charjabug can pivot out into something more threatening.

Also don't be an idiot like me and autopilot Sticky Web vs. a Pawniard. It's not fun.
The best filler move I found on Charjabug was Bug Bite. Both 2xTheTap and myself used this on our own webs teams and you don't lose out on the added power if it means that you can consume Colbur Berries from Musharna and Beheeyem or Eiscue's Salac Berry.

Hello,

since many people are talking about Arcotvish Sets, i want to take that chance to talk about an entirely different Arctovish-Set here.

I feel the third move should be Stone Edge as you it lets you deal with opposing Arctovish and Lapras plus Roselia dislikes Icicle Crash as it is and everything else don't like Fishious Rend at all.

Hey I wanted to share a cool team that I made to play against HJAD for the Alpha Tournament and it ended up being my favorite team so far.
1584100082928.png
1584100120610.png

Fraxure @ Choice Band
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- First Impression
- Poison Jab
- Superpower

Fraxure was the mon I absolutely wanted to play since it has one of the best attack stat in the tier and access to a really cool priority move in first impression. Poison Jab was there for clef and shiinotic because both are really popular so far and fighting coverage is pretty good overall so I went with Superpower as a last move.

Manectric @ Choice Specs
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Switcheroo
- Overheat

I needed a cool special attacker because Fraxure has some troubles with Mawile, so I chose Manectric. Classic set with volt switch for momentum, Thunderbolt for damages and Overheat for coverage. Switcheroo’s there to give the choice specs to any annoying pokemon that would like to stall you to death

Type: Null @ Eviolite
Ability: Battle Armor
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- U-turn
- Crush Claw
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Type Null has a insane bulk thanks to eviolite and is one of the few mons that can Switch Into specs glaceon which is really cool since Special Wallbreakers are pretty strong. It also helps against Swoobat which is really annoying for this team since I don’t have any choice scarf user but imo the team’s fast enough and has enough priority moves to fic

Mareanie @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Recover
- Scald
- Toxic/Haze

Mareanie’s access to regenerator and ability to soft check Stonjourner was perfect for my team. It also brings toxic spikes to the table which is really appreciated in the current metagame. Last but no least, Mareanie just walls one of the biggest threats for my team which was A

Silvally-Flying @ Flying Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash
- Thunderbolt
- Parting Shot
- Defog

Silvally Flying was there for 3 reasons :
- Defog
- Parting Shot
- THROH CHECK
Nothing much else to say about this mon that I recommand if you don’t want to put gourgeist on every sing

Mawile @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Stealth Rock

For this last slot I needed stealth rocks so I went with Mawile which is a Powerfull wallbreaker besides it’s ability to put rocks up.
Also Helps against swoobat with sucker punch which was a must for this scarfless team.

For fraxure i think Stoping Tantrum is better in the last slot bc of Mawile (inmune to Drag/Poison and 4xres FI)
calc:
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Fraxure Stomping Tantrum vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mawile: 124-146 (40.7 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Fraxure Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mawile: 97-115 (31.9 - 37.8%) -- 93.4% chance to 3HKO (you are faster and SP reduce your damage)
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Mold Breaker Fraxure Superpower over 2 turns vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mawile: 146-173 (48 - 56.9%) -- not a KO

Edit: Also Spdef Throh can work instead of Type Null...
Edit2: all calcs are with intimidate. offensive or no intimidate mawile are 2HKO by Stomping Tantrum

Hello friends, I didn't think I would post in here because Beta will be coming shortly, but I have a cool team with some cool sets that did pretty well on the ladder. I went 13-1 which I was happy with as the ladder is pretty volatile at the moment. The team is built around mixed AOA Silvally-Normal and it is a really cool set to showcase here for you guys. As a disclaimer, this will be a long post more so on the actual metagame than the actual team, even though I will try to be detailed with the team but once again the detail is more so to share thoughts on the metagame.

Silvally @ Silk Scarf
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Surf

I liked the idea of having a super spamable and strong Normal-type STAB and Silvally-normal has a great STAB in Multi-Attack it also OHKOs Stonjourner and does massive damage to Mawile and Carkol so I just knew it would be a great breaker for Ninjask. Silvally also brings in Stuff like Gourgeist which can be hit hard with Flamethrower. This set puts in a lot of work as it is bulky enough to nab a kill against offense and ether threatens to outright break balance teams by itself or brings in stuff like Throh which can be Exploited by Ninjask or one of the metagames numerous great Psychic-types, on this team I have picked Mr. Mime which I can touch on later. I think Life Orb can be great on this as it can put the damage on Mawile and Carkol into the OHKO range. Here I chose not to as I knew I wanted to utilize U-turn and had trouble fitting on hazard control.

:ninjask:
:ss/ninjask:
Ninjask @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aerial Ace
- U-turn
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Ninjask cores with mixed Silvally-Normal incredibly well as dual U-turn puts on the pressure and while not being "defensive" Pokemon they actually can pivot between threats and continue to put on the pressure between Silvally-Normals Silk Scarf boosted Multi-Attacks and coverage and U-turn momentum. While alot of Ninjask these days invest in bulk I feel having jolly helps against opposing Ninjask and it also nabs big damage on Choice Scarf Mr. Mime without the need of a speed boost. Swords Dance can put pressure on fatter Pokemon and can outright sweep offensive teams with assistance from Silvally-Normal. Roost is actually really solid on Ninjask as it forces switches and can really help increase longevity, undoing damage from Rocky Helmet. Roost in tandem with Swords Dance allows Ninjask to hard check Bellossom.

:mr-mime:
:ss/Mr-Mime:
Mr. Mime @ Choice Specs
Ability: Filter
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Trick

Both Silvally-Normal and Ninjask can actually bring in Throh, as Ninjask often U-turns and Aerial Ace is weak without a few boosts. Mr. Mime looks to take advantage of this. Modest Choice Specs Mr. Mime while weaker than Beheeyem and Musharna hits a much better speed tier. Both Musharna and Beheeyem can be speed crept by Throh, which is something this team really wants to avoid. Modest over timid lets Mr. Mime hit like an absolute freight train, I know some less experienced players would question why I chose modest if I wanted a fast psychic type, and the answer is I wanted to be able to outpace Throh, without any questioning of speed creep, and I wanted power, which is why this is not a Swoobat. No Fairy-type STAB looks odd, because it probably is, but the idea of hitting hard on both defensive sides was great for this team. Focus Blast hits Dark-types and Steel-types hard so I deemed it more valuable then Dazzling Gleam. Trick is used to shut down things like Type: Null, Clefairy, and Calm Mind Psychic-types, basically, if Mr. Mime can't break something it attempts to severely cripple it with Trick, this I feel will give you plenty of solid use out of Mr. Mime and it does its job well.

:lapras:
:ss/lapras:
Lapras @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Freeze-Dry
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

I think the matter of fact in the metagame right now is you need a very strong Water-type resist as the threat of Arctovish is ever-present. Glaceon too to a lesser extent, but Lapras naturally checks Glaceon. Body Press is great on Lapras as it lets it dish out solid damage on the Ice-types it is trying to check, namely Arctovish, Glaceon and opposing Lapras. Body Press also has a nice side effect of hitting Steel-types, which can be helpful, but is not necessarily used for that purpose. Freeze Dry lets it check Water-types better in general, which is something Surf can't really achieve. Hydro Pump has too little PP to be considered here and doesn't help check Water-types any more than Surf. Freeze Dry also allows Lapras to check Ninjask and prevents Swoobat from setting up on it. Freeze Dry also hits Leafeon and Ludicolo trying to come in and the fact that Lapras can live both a Giga Drain from Ludicolo and a Leaf Blade from Leafeon actually makes Lapras a soft check to both and I have used Lapras in this manner before. Rest in tandem with Sleep Talk just allows Lapras to stay around throughout the battles, kind of beckoning back to the old ORAS metagame and the RestTalk Chinchou set. Going in to test this team I was pretty certain Lapras wasn't a great pick as this team is incredibly offensive and Lapras is being used in a primarily defensive role but was happy to discover it fits an offensive role too, just to a lesser extent. Lapras being hard to faint is able to dish out consistent and reliable chip damage, which is really huge for this team structure as it compliments U-turn spam very well. As an example, Mawile comes in on one Body Press and now Silvally-Normal is OHKOing Mawile with Flamethrower

Pawniard @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt

Strange looking set here, but it fills the role of Stealth Rock user pretty damn well. First and foremost you are trying to keep Stealth Rock on the field and Stealth Rock and Taunt in tandem with Pawniards speed tier lets it do this well. Vespiquen, Vullaby, and Vibrava all get Taunted which notably doesn't just deny Defog but also denies recovery. Then they get smacked with a crippling Knock Off, especially Vespiquen who now has to switch in on the 4x weak Stealth Rock its Heavy-Duty Boots was trying to cancel out. This allows Silvally-Normal and Ninjask to easily muscle through Vespiquen and Eviolite users. Jolly is for other Pawniard as well as Pokemon trying to creep to 220 speed. Sucker Punch helps Pawniard do more against opposing offensive teams, as I stated with Lapras chip damage makes or breaks wins and losses with this team. Pawniard is also used to pivot in on Psychic-types and can be used to beat mono attacking Duosion, saving Mr. Mimes Choice Specs.

Pikachu @ Light Ball
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 Atk / 64 SpA / 192 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Volt Switch
- Knock Off

Last I have the offense killer Fake Out Extreme Speed Pikachu. With so many fast hitters in the metagame Pikachu is used as a catch-all for this team. It should also be stressed with the design of Silvally-Normal and Ninjask the team does a fantastic job of eliminating Normal-type resistant Pokemon and dishes out chip damage like nobodies business meaning cleaning up with Extreme Speed isn't just possible it's in fact very likely and accounts for over half of this teams record, honestly, in the one loss I had I chipped everything in range for Extreme Speed but got slammed by a Healing Wish so this game plan is quite effective. The special attack EVs are used for getting a faint on Stonjourner after Stealth Rock damage with Volt Switch. The speed still allows for outpacing jolly/timid max speed base 70s. Volt Switch is used in Tandem with U-turn to do all the VoltSwitch shenanigans' as it does lure in Grass-types for Ninjask as well as Throh for Mr. Mime. Knock Off isn't just used for utility here, it smacks Ghost-types that resist the Fake Out Extreme Speed combo, and is great for things like Beheeyem.

I was going to post more on actual threats and my thoughts on them and decided I will wait for Beta as that would like triple the length of this post and would be a huge analysis of the metagame, which I started to think would have been silly seeing as the metagame should definitely change at the start of April. So this is all, for now, hope you guys enjoyed the read and team.

Here's a Solrock set that i think does a better job dealing with swoobats and supporting its mates.

Solrock @ Rocky Helmet / Passho Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 244 SpD / 16 Spe
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp
- Morning Sun
- Rock Tomb

Rock Tomb drops swoobat's speed by 2 stages which allows you to immediately stop a potential sweep from it, plus with 16 speed evs solrock is able to outspeed swoobat after a speed drop. Will-o-Wisp its a wonderful utility move in the current meta that can cripple a lot of threats, mainly Silvally and Arctovish. Rocky Helmet its good for extra damage on u-turn and knock off users, while Passho berry allows you to stay in vs Scarf Arctovish, Band Basculin, Water Silvally and just wisp them.

Semi-finals and finals stats will be posted together with the cumulative stats once the tour ends.
Some notes again...
- Mawile and GroundVally are still top1. Both Mawile (LO and Intimidate) work well, and GroundVally (most a mini Groudon) boosting a 100% acc Precipice Blade.
- Persian still top 10 usage with a 70+ winrate.
- Ninjask is the one if not the best cleaner rn. Bulky Acro is better in my mind than HDB bc Aerial Ace is so weak without a boost.
- Throh is another great mon rn. FlameOrb 4 Attacks, BU Restalk and Spdef Restalk are great tranks is natural bulk and a great move in Circle Throw.

In this post i wanna talk a bit about the stealth rockers in the current pu tier. Note: I tested every single one so my descriptions should be pretty accurate

Here are all pokemon that have stealth rock and may be viable in the current meta:

1584395727525.png
The first one is clefairy. Being a fairy type rocker allows it to setup rocks in front of fighting types, although it has to be wary of knock off, because it doesnt tank very much once its eviolite is gone. Having magic guard and reliable recovery also makes it easy to setup rocks multiple times in a game and its plethora of support and status moves make it not very easy to spin against it without taking a para, toxic or just getting teleported out on into something threatening. Having magic coat also helps against opposing rocks, although it is a gimmicky option.

1584395807593.png

Next up is diglett, an offensive rocker. It is almost only used with sash and you usually get up the rocks after you have succesfully trapped and eliminated something and use the turn after that to get up rocks at 1 hp; it is able to do that because it is the 14th fastest pokemon in the tier(but it speed ties with silvally, which is almost on every team) and with 25 points its the fastest stealth rocker in the current tier. Its better to use this pokemon with another rocker on the team, because you most likely wont have the time nor the hp to setup rocks. But you can still always getup rocks and eliminate something, for example if the opposing manectric locks into an electric type move. It is better as an offensive pokemon and you should not rely on it getting up rocks, rather trapping and eliminating something

I also tried rhyhorn, but unfortunately it gets outclassed by carkoal in almost every aspect, the only things i found
1584395860307.png
where rhydon is better were:
1.no stealth rock weakness
2. better at checking manectric due to its ground typing
3. a little more physical bulk
4. Stab edgequake ( earthquake and stone edge)
Sadly, rhyhorn is worse in every other way ( even Pupitar is better in every way, so dont use rhyhorn)

1584395934183.png
Shuckle is one of the best suicide leads in the current metagame. It has a focus sash in sturdy and can hold a mental herb against taunt or encore users. Its 230 def stats also let it often get up both hazards, sticky web and stealth rock. Shuckle is thus often seen on HO teams that wont let their opponent spin or defog and focus on getting many kills in a short amount of time. Its sticky web allows slower pokemon, like stonjourner, to be an offensive threat on those kind of teams. The combination of stealth rocks and sticky web itself is a great combination; ninjask avoids webs but takes 50 % stealth rock damage and if it has heavy duty boots, then it hasnt got acrobatics.

1584395972869.png

Palpitoad has one of the best type combinations; pairing with its ability, it has 4 weaknesses and two immunities and the only weakness is the 4x grass weakness. The resistance to electric and fire allows it to wall manectric completely and to setup rocks in manectrics face. It also counters all stonjourner sets without toxic and choose to either kill it or get up rocks as it switches out. Palpitoad is good in combination with clefairy not because of type synergy, rather because clef absorbs status, has wish and can even cure palpitoads status with aromatherapy. Palpitoads 75 hp with 55 defenses does not sound very bulky, but it can eat up a lot of hits due to its typing and eviolite and it can be run physically and specially defensive.

1584396067805.png

The next pokemon with a very good typing is mawile; its typing is probably the best typing that currently exists. It has 9 normal resistances, one 4x resistance to bug and immunities to dragon and poison. Mawiles stats are what is holding it back from success in higher tiers but 50 hp with 85 base defense with intimidate, one of the best abilities, Mawile becomes very hard to handle for teams that dont have good ground or fire types but you can let your team handle those. Mawile walls many important pokemon, like ninjask, leafeon, silvally flying and the list goes on. Mawile isnt just all about defense though, it also has a terrifying life orb sheer force set that can get up rocks while it threatens a ko with its 104 base power iron heads and 117 base power play roughs, which are also boosted by life orb. Mawile apreciates wish support, especially the rocky helmet set but it can also make use of its 50 base hp and use pain split. Overall, Mawile is one of the best walls and stealth rockers in the current tier.

1584396104929.png
Next up are the sun and moon pokemon, solrock and lunatone. Which one you take just comes down to whether you want a
1584396137910.png

special or a physical rocker. Both have reliable recovery in morning sun and in moonlight, have the same typing, just the physical and special stats are reversed. Solrock gets flare blitz and will o wisp and lunatone gets moonblast. I used them as offensive rockers, I gave solrock a life orb and max speed and max attack and i was often able to set up rocks while the opponent switched out, fearing a flare blitz or stone edge. I gave lunatone max hp and special attack to be a more bulky rocker, although i like solrock more due to its superior movepool and the fact that solrocks physical bulk is more useful than lunatones special bulk. If you find any cool lunatone set that i didnt find, then please tell me and I will try it out.

1584396203140.png

Hippopotas seems to be a decent stealth rocker due to its high defense in combination with its hp and eviolite. In the few games i tried it out, it worked well. Thanks to reliable recovery in slack off it was able to get up rocks multiple times in one game. I used in in combination with gloom, which covers all of hippos weaknesses except for ice, but ice types dont want to get toxiced or earthquaked. However, physically defensive hippo does not check specs manectric reliably; one overheat did 73% to my hippopotas. But that isnt the biggest flaw of it. Mono ground doesnt have many resistances and it struggles to switch into many offensive teams unlike silvally ground, which is faster and can u turn out on pokemon like bellossom or arctovish but it doesnt have stealth tock. Hippopotas also cant really hit many pokemon its supposed to check, for example balloon raichu and ninjask got free setup and you dont want to give up on toxic for rock slide.

1584396241032.png

The next one is bronzor, a very passive pokemon. It saw much success in the last generation's ZU but it lost one of its two damage options, psywave. It is very good at getting up rocks but it has no reliable recovery unless you have a heal bell user(rest). Bronzor walls silvally ground and can get up rocks the turn it defogs. But bronzor is hit very hard by knock off, not only losing its eviolite but also taking a massive hit. Bronzor walls many pokemon of the metagame but it cant do anything against any steel type. But it is good on a stall based team that has wish support and trapinch to trap those steel types.

Next up is Pupitar, the hard shell pokemon. It has the same typing as rhyhorn so it has the same strenghts, like checking manectric or having Stab edgequake. The things that make pupitar better are:
1.W
1584396285703.png
ay better sp.def stat
2. Enough speed to outrun mawile naturally
3.The incredible ability shed skin. Shed skin lets you use rest and have a 33% chance to get rid of your 'sleep' status. But it also helps against toxic if you dont want to use rest and this ability also doesnt make you require clef, unlike rhyhorn ,which needs clef for wish and heal bell. But Pupitar's typing isnt the best, a weakness to eathquake and two 4x weaknesses, grass and water. That said, my pupitar got up rocks at least once a game but there are better and more consistend stealth rockers, like mawile or palpitoad, which also checks manectric but is immune to water and has no weakness agsint ground, thus checking stonjourner

The next one is one of the gen8 pokemon, carkol. It is currently the only fire rock type pokemon, and can check pokemon other rockers cant as good as it. The best example is ninjask, ninjask is even afraid of u turning agaisnt carkol because it does not want to get burned by flame body and carkol also resists acrobatics and kills ninjask with a simple rock blast. What makes carkol unique is not only its typing, rather its movepool. Although it does not have a great offensive movepool, it has rocks, spikes AND rapid spin so it can be the role of a hazard setter, a haza
1584396332758.png
rd removal or simply both at the same time. Its good hp stat and good defenses plus the eviolite make it really bulky on both sides, even able to tank a life orb stomping tantrum from heatmor, although you dont want to stay in on that. Carkols biggest flaw is its stealth rock weakness and so it basically always has to be played in combination with wish. Carkol is also very vulnerable to toxic and thats why it often struggles against bulkier teams it wants to spin. Also one weakness is that its often not able to get a spin off because it cant hit ghost types very hard. It also is part of the 4 moveslot syndrom, you want toxic for ghosts rapid spin as removal, rocks and spikes as hazards, rock blast to break substitutes and to have a stab move and flame
thrower to hit gourgeist. But it does its role as a spinner or remover pretty well.

1584389045499.png

Stonjourner is an intersting case. Its low sp.def only lets it set up rocks on physical pokemon or walls that arent going to attack you. I used a stonjourner with adamant nature, life orb and three attacks + rocks. Stonjourner isnt really good at setting up rocks. If it is on the field, which it rarely ever does because of its sp.def, you more likely want to get a really strong hit off on an opposing wall, even mawile gets 2KOd by heat crash as it switches in. You should either use a second rocker on your team or give stonjourner four attacks to hit more things super effectiffely.

1584391476329.png

The next is mudbray, the literal goat :) . Its ability stamina lets it wall klang, which otherwise destroys any balance without throh but mudbray gets a +2 defense boost every time klang attacks and even 2kos it with earthquake. It also gets free entry on mawile if you are having rest. It is also able to get up rocks against stonjourner, which only raises your defense. The most common defogger at the time is silvally ground and you can simply toxic it and then spam rocks until he is forced out. It is also a rocker that isnt scared of trapinch at all, unlike mawile. Here is the team (the other teams arent here because I didnt have much success)https://pokepast.es/5d61e04684163fae

Well thats it. I hope this threat helps you decide which stealth rocker to take for your team! Now please dont point out every grammar or spelling mistake. Have some mercy for a german 8th grader.

Hey guys, I'm here to drop a few squads that I made during this first half of Alpha :
:hakamo-o: :roselia: :lapras: :silvally: :mawile: :ninjask: : I wanted to try bu hakamo-o because I really like this mon and yeah tried to find a cool offensive niche for it. Otherwise, really standard stuff with roselia bringing spikes to the table, lapras for arctovish, grouvally for the electric immunity + defog and Momentum, mawile for rocks and ninjask check and Ninjask to have a reliable Sweeper + Momentum and speed.
https://pokepast.es/28156dd38c743a76
:rufflet: :manectric: :gourgeist: :throh: :carkol: :silvally: : There we have the big brave bird rufflet which has an awesome attack with hustle + choice band. Just pray a bit before every move and you'll be good with this mon. The gourgeist spread is there because I'm a throh hater so smh.
https://pokepast.es/6c8392ecca734424
:basculin: :ninjask: :gourgeist: :type-null: :stonjourner: :silvally: : Special basculin can easily lure stuff like mawile shiinotic and gourgeist that could've had easily switched on the choice band set. Superpower's there for Lapras and Arctovish and protect is there because trapinch is what it is.

I think its about time someone mentions how good ninjask actually is, maybe even too good.
Here are all the sets i have seen success with:https://pokepast.es/ce489c27af8ba9c1
Ninjask is the best late game cleaner or even sweeper right now. Its typing seems like its completely walled by mawile but you can simply u turn out into your trapinch and kill the mawile and simply clean later. Its other counters/checks like stonjourner and carkol also have one thing in common and that is: being weak to ground and thus being weak to trapinch and diglett.
it is also very strong after just one swords dance, killing silvally with one acrobatics and, the biggest problem, if its a silvally form that resists flying, it simply takes 70% from a +2 u turn and can get killed later in the game. Ninjask doesnt even have to run max speed max attack. The second fastest pokemon in the tier is persian, whose fake outs you can simply protect, is outsped with just 20 points of investment. Scarfers also can revenge you, due to the fact that you outspeed EVERY pokemon after just one speed boost.
Ninjask's stealth rock weakness seems like a huge weakness at first but any silvally form will ensure that you wont have to deal with rocks(the acrobatics set). The boots set avoids 49% damage every switch in for a sacrifice of power but its sometimes worth it, since ninjask's other stab also has an 80 base power leech life.
The hp invested set also isnt that weak to priority attacks( basculin's stab adaptility choice band aqua jet does 70% max.
After all, i think ninjask is too overwhelming for the current tier because even the counters can get u turn'd out on so i hope it will be banned once beta starts.

hey gang i've been building and playing some of this meta and i have a few cool teams to share with u! (click on the teams for pastes)

:persian: :trapinch: :silvally: :mawile: :shiinotic: :arctovish:

this is a fairly standard team ig but as such i think gives a good representation of this alpha meta. persian + eviolite trapinch exploits the early tendeny of people to overly rely on mawile to keep persian+ninjask in check, and trapinch comfortably removes it as well as other common obstacles for persian (which is why recently ppl have been running several normal/flying resists, using more niche options, or running shed shell on mawile). my own mawile actually runs magnet rise on this team because otherwise it'd also be too easily beaten by pinch teams, as well as a fast spread with taunt to shut down most other hazard setters since my hazard removal isnt too reliable. silv-dragon was my type of choice here mostly so i could have a fire resist (could've maybe gone special with draco, idk if thats better). shiinotic covers a bunch of things defensively (primarily silvally-ground and fighting types) and can actually be very annoying to beat. av arctovish compresses an arcto check of my own (faster than most other non-choiced arctos, outspeeds up to modest max spe lapras), a decently powerful breaker, and some much-needed special bulk for threats like specs glaceon and noctowl. decent team overall imo and showcases some of the big threats in this meta imo!

:torracat: :natu: :silvally: :roselia: :onix: :ninjask:

this is actually my favorite team i built so far. i started off wanting to build something good with torracat cuz it seemed like a fun pivot with proper hazard control. enter natu, the best pokemon of all time. it is deceptively bulky with investment, being able to stall out most rockers in this tier (all but stonjourner are fairly passive for the most). i tried hattrem on another team but i think natu is definitely superior thanks to its durability with roost and crucially, its ability to pivot with teleport. since many rockers are too passive, it's very easy to come in and immediately teleport to either regain momentum as they switch or tank a weak hit as you switch into one of your other pivots. with several other pviots on a team, natu really shines as team support imo. acrojask was a natural partner to add cuz obviously it appreciates reliable hazard control the most of anything in the tier and acts as a fantastic revenge killer/weather counter/lategame cleaner/pivot. roselia and onix provide hazards for the team, roselia is offensive spikes cuz i wanted some breaking power in this teamslot and roselia is actually quite powerful with investment and leaf storm, onix meanwhile compresses a normal/ninjask resist, an electric immunity, and a rocker that has access to taunt to beat most rockers 1v1 (spread is for max spe ada stonjourner). body press and head smash more than compensate for its usual passivity. silvally-water rounds off the team by being a silvally and resisting arctovish, i chose to go with an sd set with rock slide because i wanted it to be a capable breaker. the team plays really well overall, maintaining momentum is easy and ninjask can run over teams lategame. silvally-ground can be annoying depending on the set but other than that the team covers ur bases p well

- Silvally and Mawile are everywhere, with Ground Silvally being the most popular (but you already knew that)
- Manectric is still being used more than Raichu despite having a worse winrate >:(
- Silvally-Water actually, objectively sucks (look at that winrate holy shit)
- Swoobat isn't as broken as people say, either that or people are using it wrong
- 3 people forfeited before revealing their Silvally

EDIT: Oh yeah Persian's winrate is kinda crazy for how much it's used, don't know how I managed to miss that lol. Groundvally's winrate is pretty nuts too.

I would add:
Persian winrate is really high for such a high use mon! In fact, it has the second highest winrate from every single mon that was used more than 10 times (the 1st one is Ludicolo, which was used just 15 times)...

That might sound curious, but I feel Persian is just too stupidly easy to use... switch on something passive and you will see it dealing nice damage after Mawile has been removed, because even "checks" like Carkoal and Stonjourner will receive massive damage from Technician Water Pulse... sure, it is pressured to drop something for that move (usually Knock Off or U Turn), but man, it can do some huge work despite those mediocre attacking stats!

Figured I would drop a team that I've been using. I have been enjoying the meta for what it is, while expecting big changes in the future. Here is the first one:

:ninjask: :silvally-dragon: :throh: :lapras: :mawile: :liepard:
Ninjask @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- U-turn
- Aerial Ace
- Protect

Silvally-Dragon @ Dragon Memory

IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower / Iron Head
- Defog
- Parting Shot

Throh (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 208 HP / 220 SpD / 80 Spe
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Storm Throw / Circle Throw
- Knock Off

Lapras @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe

Mawile @ Rocky Helmet

Liepard @ Choice Band

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Copycat
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough

A very simple team, combining U-Turn with Knock Off spam and with a neat wallbreaker.

  • Ninjask is the HDB variety because the main thing I am interested in with it is revenge killing and turning, so I wanted the consistency over the power. With the boots, Ninjask can work as its own midgame wallbreaker for a lategame sweep much easier than with no item.
  • Silvally Dragon has been a love of mine for a long time. I know the SD variant has been very popular lately, but I just love dropping Draco Meteor and then Parting Shot out. Defog for spinning, Flamethrower is excellent coverage for stuff like Mawile but Iron Head can work too. Adds defensive synergy by resisting common types like Fire and Electric and Water as well, so it finds a home.
  • "Interesting EVs on Throh Akir" Why thank you, the Speed creeps Gourgeist Super and the HP is a Leftovers# + 1 with the rest into Spdef. Storm Throw does more damage than Circle Throw and can't miss and also ignores Defense boosts, but Circle Throw phazes so hey. Finally starting with the Knock Off, so with Throh's bulk it is very easy to simply come in on an attack and press Knock Off. This team wins slowly over time, no need to rush things. Throh also gives more defensive synergy by resisting fun things like Rock and Dark and still having general bulk.
  • I needed to check Arctovish so I went with Lapras for more bulk without giving up too much power. I got the spread from Specs so ask him what it does (edit: i have been informed that it is for adamant arctovish). Overall very simple what Lapras does, just covers holes and adds consistency.
  • Need rocks and a Ninjask counter so here comes Mawile. Has Knock Off to further wear down the opponent more, with how many Eviolite in the tier. More of the same, just covering more holes.
  • Liepard is a fun choice. I wanted a better answer to Swoobat than what I had without cutting into the U-Turn and Knock Off spam I got going on. Liepard does that while working as a secondary rker. Copycat is a fun way to really outspeed everything, but tbh the main button I push is Knock Off and Play Rough for when Throh wants to be cute.
After laddering with this team for a while, Blue YM came along and asked me for an idea for a team. He ended up making basically the same team, so here is the V2:

:throh: :silvally-dragon: :ninjask: :mawile: :lapras: :bellossom:
Throh (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Storm Throw
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Superpower / Circle Throw

Silvally-Dragon @ Dragon Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Parting Shot
- Defog
- Draco Meteor

Ninjask
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- U-turn
- Swords Dance
- Protect

Mawile @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Play Rough
- Knock Off
- Toxic

Lapras @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Freeze-Dry
- Life Dew
- Toxic

Bellossom @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Strength Sap / Moonblast
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb

So, cool, I will just talk about the differences.

  • Throh is Choice Band now. This is cool because Storm Throw will always 2HKO Mawile, and Superpower just cuts straight through.
  • Now that Throh is banded, Ninjask can be shifted into setup. Because of that, now it is Acrobatics.
  • Bellossom is now here! Bell adds a sturdier Silvally-Ground switchin, a better answer to Clefairy, and a much more consistent setup, but makes the team notably weaker to Swoobat.
Overall I have had fun just throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. Beta will almost 100% be nothing like Alpha, so I'm enjoying it for what it is and not taking it very seriously. Pretty fun though!
