  • I can bet you a hundred bucks, i have have a brother. I'll tell him to go on his account and post on this. Brb.
    oppa gangam style

i share this account, my brother does the lame amatuer checks, he is only a 2nd grader
I mean, that rule is really to try and tone down the use of "With the advent of BW2" and other garbage like it. There's a difference between saying snorlax is good in GSC, better than it is now, and turning it into an entire article about the changes. This mentions gen 2 a lot, but mostly saying that it was popular back then; it really was. I think it looks fine as it is.
The amchecking placeholder thing is a silly rule, hopefully it can be changed eventually maybe, but the GP leaders are firm in their decision.

Anyway, aside from calling garchomp a "he" once and starmie a "she", you didn't miss anything I was going to put. You caught the "set-up"s, but they are a bit difficult to see with the diff app (my dislike for it shows even here lol). Alex is a writer that uses a couple run-on sentences, so you can see in my check I added a couple of commas to alleviate this problem.

OH WAIT, YOU DID THIS TOO, my eyes just aren't used to seeing the diff app's changes. In the future, be sure to put an (AC) when you add those commas w/ the diff app to make sure people catch the changes; I've seen it happen too many times ;)

Basically that was a stampable check from my perspective. In fact, you caught some gender things I didn't...stupid females! I went back in and added those after I saw this; thanks a ton. But yeah, really nice work on this one.
Hey man, sorry I've been totally absent since our "not really a session" session xD My internet was being real wobbly then I spilt some water on my computer and I had to leave it alone for a while for it to fix itself. Anyway, I'm probably gunna be real free tomorrow if you wanna chat
Cool! I mainly ask that because it's different if somebody is really good at grammar in their own language but will have problems transitioning from that to english; we have many foreign grammar checkers. Meanwhile, you are basically speaking english, which is what I expected from seeing your checks. This means most of the things you miss are going to be common english-speaking errors; errors that most people speaking english miss. I mean, I consider myself pretty good at grammar, but even going through my last check I missed changing an "its"...

Anyway, don't worry about your speaking style, it hasn't made any kind of detriment at all! Everyone on GP has their own style, and it generally doesn't matter anyway because subjective things are always going to be changed differently by different checkers. The main point is we've just got to make sure you'll get almost all of the pure grammar errors in a check, and you've pretty much been doing this! Keep it up!
    Errr...

Unfortunately, no. The biggest issue here is, of course, the fact that this only needs one more stamp to be done. I'd generally stay away from doing those in the future; there's a lot less you can pick out of an analysis to show you know all the errors when it's just an amcheck on a (GP 1/2) analysis, this means an official guy has gone through already and found most of them.

There's also the point where I've already checked this analysis, and I wouldn't want to have it go through by my hand only without one of the other GPers, that all have a pretty different style to me, check it.

You got some good changes in here, but the point is there's simply not enough for me to stamp and say "you got everything right, you're qualified to be on GP from an analysis like this". That's generally what the stamps are for, and there's just not enough material in this analysis to see that, especially when it's 1/2 already. Most of this comes from the author's writing and the fact that it's a short analysis.

However, you did change some "wrong" things in here. While it may sound a bit bad, the plural form of "close combat" is "close combats". If you wanted to change it to have no s on the end, you'd have needed to rework the sentence a bit, as the point of it was to say donphan can take multiples of these hits. Also, "base 120 Attack" is a bit better than "120 base attack". 120 Base power would be correct, and note that "base" is capitalized here, if we were talking about a move, say, Hydro Pump. Thanks for catching some "its" and "Will-O-Wisps", though, I can't believe I missed those >_<

I noticed you're using the diff app, and I'd like to take a moment to reccommend you don't use it. If you didn't see, when you try to add a comma to this, it just highlights the comma. Likewise, if you add or take away a letter at the end of a word, it only highlights that letter. The particular diff app is a bit restricting to showing some errors, I find. When you add commas, in particular, you may want to type (AC) or (comma) after you've done one, and (RC) for removing them. That's what I do when I edit my posts directly, which I prefer to do. I like to do checks on smogon directly because I've been able to speed up the process over the years and it lets me highlight anything I want to. As a way to speed up highlighting things, you can double click on a word and then immediately chose a color for it, it's helpful ^_^. Give direct editing a try, other GPers may reccommend the diff app and I'm a bit biased against it, but if you decide to stick with it, be a little more careful with the stuff it highlights and the stuff it doesn't.

Back to your check, it's really not bad in any way, it just doesn't particularly show me everything you know. Hopefully, doing an analysis with zero GP checks on it will help remedy this issue!

This wound up being a very long VM lol

If you don't mind me asking, what is your location and first language? I want to know if you're doing all this with a background in english or another language, which causes people different grammar problems based on their language, I've found.
Governess, are you a girl? LOL, from the day you joined our group, I was wondering if you were a boy or girl due to that username
Ps me telling you to take a look at the spelling standards has nothing to do with your spelling skills. I'm just trying to get all the new am checkers to look through ir when they start to make sure they know everything.
Hiya! I just wanted to stop by as I see you're starting to get into amchecks for the GP team. I'm dealing with a few other amcheckers at the moment so I thought I'd talk with you over some ways you can improve. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but I strongly recommend taking another look at the spelling and grammar standards. Every time you go through there, you can pick up a couple more things to commit to memory to look for in analyses. Your checks have been very exceptional for somebody that's only done three of them (probably stemming from your writing experience), but there are a couple of things that you were missing in your sableye check I just went through. These include not capitalizing a stat, leaving OHKO's when it should be OHKOes (as in Arceus OHKOes Sableye), and leaving "hazards" instead of "entry hazards".

Again, these were the only pure grammar mistakes I saw in your check, which is fantastic! I didn't stamp your check because there was a fair bit of subjective changes I made on top of you as well as those few easy errors, but for your third (?) check it was pretty awesome. I know when I was at your stage I was putting out stuff I'd be embarrassed to see again. A lot of the subjective things to look for come with time and experience, which I hope you'll be getting a lot of in the future! Let me know if you want me to look over any amchecks you've done, so I can hopefully get them stamped and you a part of the grammar team eventually!
Also if your interested their have been tier shifts between nu and Pu you can check them out in the main Group
Well it was worth the talk. After all discussing an idea is how it blossoms and becomes a threat
True but Bravebird is just as powerful the only draw back is recoil, and I'd prefer that than having to rely on Rain Dance to keep me from missing.
I love your Swanna Analyses! But im not even going to look at Murkrow -_- but dont you think Swanna should get a Physical set as well? And i found a Choice Specs Swanna to be immensely powerful. Especially on a dedicated Rain Team
:'( I'm really sorry I keep "disappearing" I don't know whats wrong but I keep getting dc'd from my internet
