Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
it fits his theme of there being no real loyalty or justice in the world, like when he gives Harvey Dent the chance to kill him. it parallels the opening scene where he has all of the goons murder each other during the bank heist. he has shown that he doesn't really care if he dies from the aforementioned Harvey Dent scene and also laughs when he is being savagely beaten by Batman and also about to fall to his death. he would still "win" like he did because in the end he proved that he was right, and even more than that even though his worldview is really disturbing, he is no hypocrite about it.
oh so like before batman can capture him he commits suicide by proxy? I mean then the joker basically wins everything and would compromise the rest of the movie
no the Joker doesn't commit suicide, one of his minions just ends up killing him. the actual setting and confrontation would have to be reworked a bit of course.
also I always felt the Joker "won" in the end anyway, because he managed to turn Harvey Dent to the dark side and have Batman take the fall for it, until The Dark Knight Rises when the people finally learn the truth. since he does not appear in TDKR even when all the prisoners are released (obviously because Heath Ledger had died), retroactively I think it would have made more sense for him to have been killed at some point.
you summed it up perfectly yourself, he already won with harvey. What would having him killed by a minion accomplish?? Parallells to earlier scenes are dumb cliches we should not do them imo; being a minion in the joker gang doesnt sound like so bad a gig so why stir the pot?
