Something long form like a tv show might be able to do it, but I don't think you can pull a twist with the premise; viewers would feel cheated

Exactly. Viewers would feel totally cheated. Sad but there's no way around it.

Actually when I was a senior, my friends and I did that. Like trade each other a film without telling the other person anything about it (and hopefully, we had never heard of it) so that watching it was a complete surprise.
