    Then my question is what happens if Leftovers get knocked off? Knock-Off is too common these days. Once Milotic loses its Leftovers, it will be in a worse state than having Flame Orb/a burn. At least once the burn is activated, Milotic becomes immune to status.

    I think traditionally it is also heavily discouraged for Milotic to get afflicted with poison because one of its defensive play-style is to toxic-stall.

    Anyway, my write-up is based entirely on my personal experience of using Milotic in OU and what I think is its optimal set + item. Leftovers is always good on a defensive pokemon; I just think why not have greater certainty with Flame Orb instead.
