  • Hey Pinkacross! I've been watching your videos and lives for a while now and decided I wanted to play as well, and teambuild, but I just am never sure on what to use to check pokemons that seem like threats to my team and can never come up with something that seems playable.
So I was wondering, if it's not too much to ask, if you have any team with either Okidogi Toxic Chain or an Hydrapple so I can learn more about the game by myself?
Cause there aren't really any sample teams that make me want to use them and I don't know anywhere else I can ask.

Thanks in advance even if you don't have any team with them!
Hello Pinkacross! Your videos have inspired me to try teambuilding, and it's worked relatively well and I'm having a blast :D. I have made two versions of the same team that work relatively well, but sometimes just get steamrolled by offensive teams. Would you do me a favor and suggest improvements to the version of the team you believe is better?

Version 0 (SpD SD Glisc + Skarm): https://pokepast.es/ff9a31d64ee9c6fa
Version 1 (Def Support Glisc + Gambit): https://pokepast.es/a6b66cbd1de03901

Metagame changes have made teams like this VERY difficult to pull off. I'd say they're just too passive. I'd say go with the Skarm version, since the gambit one can't handle Wellspring. Go with Brave Bird over Body Press, and Low Kick over SD on Weavile to try and patch up the Kingambit problem
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
But generally it may be easier to make the team more offensive, this type of bulky hazard stack just struggles a lot right now
Hello Pinkacross, I am relatively new to competitive Pokemon, I've been watching your videos for a while and built this hazard stack team using your video as a reference, but I'm looking for improvements. I really seem to struggle against Ogerpon and fairy types in general and my Landorus seems to not contribute enough and I replaced him with a Glowking. I Would really appreciate if you could suggest some improvements to both teams
    Team 1 (With Landorus) - https://pokepast.es/4bb5930b808b2396
    Team 2 (With Glowking) - https://pokepast.es/7c3673ca0b0054a6
I really wanted to nuke things with tera fairy specs hyper beam Sylveon because I feel really bored of just tryharding ladder and just wanted to mash buttons so I made this team below. it probably needs more work than most other teams because I didn't really think about the building process

Not terrible but not great. You count on Sylveon to break, so the stall matchup is unplayable. HO matchup looks good though! SUPER weak to Glowking though.

yeah I've noticed, team is very prediction reliant but the payoff is worth it when you get predicts rigth. if not then its 9/10 over
Hello Pinkacross, been following your channel for a while but only decided to seek help today. I've built this hazard stack team, been testing in on ladder a little (I'm only around 1k4) and I noticed I struggle quite a bit against Sub-Tect Kyurem and some HOs, but did amazing in a lot of stall matchups. I'd really like more priority options than just the unboosted Thunderclap, and I've been thinking about replacing Meow with Scizor but I'm afraid that would make the team too slow (plus Meow is my favorite pokemon). Do you have any suggestions?
    https://pokepast.es/1db23511f8840fa5
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
Given you have Zamazenta, I wouldn't worry about the team being too slow. Scizor seems like a good idea. I also think you've overdone the Heavy Duty Boots a bit, go Leftovers on Zamazenta, and consider it on Heatran as well.
    Kokonutt
Lefty on Heatran has improved my matchup against sun a lot, and Zama swept a lot more also. Thanks pinka.
I've been experimenting around that Meow slot a bit with Scizor, Rillaboom, Weavile and so far I like Scizor the most.

Glad to hear it's working well!
    Hey Pinkacross.
iirc My last post on your profile was in May last year (I took a very long break from pokemon at that time). My pokemon spark got reignited, so I wanted to build a team again. I got some input from Smogon, but it helps having more until I'm fine with the team.

    https://pokepast.es/a8a5824c1dda6e4d

Made a Hazard Stack team and haven't run into any really poor matchups, but I probably haven't played enough to tell for sure.

    Original Team -
    :Dragapult: :Weavile: :Zamazenta:
    :Gliscor: :Slowking-Galar: :Ting-Lu:

    Changes -
    :Hydrapple: > :Dragapult:
    :Gholdengo: > :Slowking-Galar:

It was originally built around Pult + Vile, but I felt like I didn't really need that much speed when I had Weavile and Zamazenta (I also got some input from others that said the same), and someone suggested Hydrapple since Waterpon could just destroy the original team. I replaced Glowking with Bulky Gholdengo since it checks some similar stuff and helps with mixed val, and it let's me keep hazards up.

The changes I'm currently thinking of are Tera Ghost Weavile and Air Balloon Gholdengo. Maybe some other Tera Types as well, but I don't feel like I need to change them.
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
I'd recommend testing more, that'll tell you which small changes work best. It's very difficult/impossible to give good advice on such small adjustments without testing the team.
    Dozkek
    Dozkek
    Alright I'll do that
    Hey Pinkacross!
I've built a team around a Weavile and Latios breaking core and would appreciate some feedback and a rating out of 10. I've had some difficulties with HO and hazard stack mid ladder, but I truly have faith in the team with some adjustments from yourself. https://pokepast.es/4c8f41c82a19c65a
    Thanks again :)
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
The greedy side of me REALLY wants to make this Weavile Tera Ice. With Never-Melt-Ice AND Tera Ice, you get some serious power on that Ice Shard. That will also help against HO. As for hazard stack, the main recommendation I have is Tera Ice on Great Tusk so you can get past Sinistcha. Heavy Duty Boots / Air Balloon on Ghold is another option, if you go Future Sight on Glowking, I'd say you've got sufficient Garganacl counterplay.
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
You may also want to consider Scarf Latios, Darkrai looks like a nightmare right now. And I'd go Tera Dragon if you end up going Scarf.
ripped this team straight from you video "my first tornament game ever" but the teams pretty old and I'm wondering what changes I could make to this team so that it works better in the current metagame. I wanted to use is bc I love pawmot but I kinda suck a making it work.

    Pinkacross
For the most part I'd say this holds up well, but you might want to go Spdef Rocks treads and Curse Garganacl to avoid getting smoked by Sub Kyurem. If you don't make that change, definitely go Tera Ice treads for Kyu

Hey Pinkacross! This is a team I made recently around Kyurem and Glowking with the intention of making overheat Iron Moth usable on a balance(ish) archetype. I'm not seeing too many issues on ladder, but some major ones Dgleam Iron Moth, will-o-wisp Pult, Wellspring and Darkrai HStack. I originally had an offensive Prim on the team instead of Ting-Lu but faced challenges with CM Raging Bolt and other special attackers that don't mind it switching in. I'd appreciate a rating out of 10 and some easily applicable changes so I can break past the 1500s, where I'm noticing opponents are actually making mid-ground plays which my low-risk playstyle doesn't appreciate. I'd also like your opinion on the Iron Moth set, since Pinkacord seems to have mixed opinions.
    Thanks! :D

    Pinkacross
I feel like the stall problem can be fixed. This latios set can force Blissey / Clodsire to Tera. That's a big deal. Might have to replace Iron Moth to take advantage of that though :/
    TrainerPineap
    TrainerPineap
I'm debating putting flip turn on Latios to cripple a Blissey switching in then threaten it with Great Tusk so I get a free switch into my special breakers
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
The pivot on Blissey strategy with Latios can be tough to pull off in practice on such an offensive team, that takes a while to break through
Hey! Inspired by your video, I tired to make Mud-Slap Salazzle webs. The idea is that to have two Fire/Poison mons on the team, dealing with each other's problems. Salazzle can Nasty Plot, allowing her to deal more damage than fishing for a Fiery Dance boost, and can also hit Heatran with an attack (Mud-Slap) without teraing. Iron Moth has more bulk and coverage, being more versatile for when Salazzle breaks opposing mons. There is obviously type overrlap, but I wanted to see what you think. Great video!

    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
    Is the Salazzle performing well?
    dunderguy
    dunderguy
You definitely notice the power Salazzle has after a Nasty Plot, but theres times where Mud Slap does not secure kills after Teraing. I saw a calc where +2 Fire Blast did the same was +2 Tera Ground Mud Slap to Glowking, so thats a bummer. I’d say it could be replaced, but Nasty Plot Life Orb is genuinely good imo
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
I see. You may want to consider sub + mud slap with leftovers to take advantage of the accuracy drop
I have this crazy idea to try.

    https://pokepast.es/eb3df73468d979fb

Basically it's DD T-tar with some form of speed control with T-wave Pult Gloking and body slam Ting-Lu. My reasoning was to use T-wave for pokemon like Zama, Gambit, Dnite and maybe I-Val, however I've two big issues:
    - Choice scarf Gholdengo
    - Bulky ground / tera ground mons
After testing with some friends I had a hard time to counter it.

These are my ideas to maybe improve the team
    - Ceruledge can be swapped with T-Tar since I feel like he can do a better job and also he can Tera well in different types, lastly he can dish out pretty good damage.
    - Potentially also I can use a stun spore support, I might go with support Slither Wing set with wisp and stun spore it has a solid special bulk surprisingly, but in exchange for Ting-Lu.
    - Maybe have kyurem as a special sweeper instead of Keldeo, however I won't have any priority and I have no hazard removal.
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
My main concern here is that you have no immediate power. Nothing can hit hard without setup. Kyurem also farms this.

For the most part is seems like a standard hazard stack, but I think the Ttar has got to go. If you want to make DDtar work, I'd recommend a hyper offense build, perhaps Veil.
    RoroNoDono
    RoroNoDono
Thought so too, maybe Ceruledge and scizor since they have priority.
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
Scizor would fit best I'd say, given the Kyurem issue. Sub sets are still a nightmare but it helps.
This might sound like a strange question, but are there team structures that don't rely on rocks (outside of stuff like Veil and webs)? I ask cause I feel like I'm habitually jamming them into teams out of obligation rather than making an informed decision on fitting them in vs trying out different sets on standard rockers (i.e. Taunt Great Tusk).
    petabytecat
    petabytecat
idk if i should comment on these posts. but from what i understand a good team should probably have rocks. but it doesnt need to rely on it (you dont need to have a lead).
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
Very, VERY few good teams lack stealth rock. It's one of the best moves in singles. You should be jamming them onto teams.
As a joke, my friend told me to use rising voltage Arctozolt. Thinking about it, as long as I set up terrain and snow I can sweep very effectively (rising voltage does crazy damage, and it also has blizzard stab/meteor beam to deal with pokes that aren't on the ground). The rest of the team focuses on covering weaknesses. I haven't seen anyone use this. Do you think it should be the new meta . Jokes! But its so fun to play with. Love to hear your opinion on this!!!

Also I had SOOOO much fun naming this.
    https://pokepast.es/2c85bf5d45d610c3
(slowking and tapu koko set up arctozolt so they are the ice cream man and ice cream scooper, respectively. slowking looks like a guy. and tapu koko has this shield like thing thats like a scooper haha. shiny char x is like a warm brownie, especially since I love brownie ice cream. Then shiny ferrothorn looks like lychee and ig lando-t is like crumbs).
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
I'd worry more about what the meta pokemon are, rather than type charts. Definitely do add a ground immunity though
    petabytecat
    petabytecat
which poke do u suggest tho. cuz i tried so many and they all don't work that well…
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
Mandibuzz fits in theory, depends on the meta though.
CB Cinderace is very fun to click 90% of the time so I built this team last year and forgot about it until yesterday. don't ask what I was on building this team tho

I'd remove Wake. Hazard stack means more than SR, it means spikes AND SR. Still add SR to tusk though, rocks are too good to turn down.
    Itzbruhcon
    Itzbruhcon
What do I swap wake for? another water type or just a strong spattacker like krai?
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
Depends on what your team struggles with. And what it needs defensively. Test and see what would fit best. Off the top of my head I'd say Wellspring
    https://pokepast.es/63c4e453443d1f4f

I made a pretty straightforward hazard stack team. It has probably been my most successful team I personally made, though I didn't do anything groundbreaking.

Darkrai - Knock Off user. I was running Ice Beam for a bit, but not having Focus Blast made my kinggambit/opposing Darkrai MU kind of bad. If I can find a strong KingGambit answer, I would like to switch this to Ice Beam to hit Dragonite/Tusk/Landorus.

Skarmory - Standard Full Defense with spikes + whirlwind. Whirlwind for the phasing and for anti-setup, and it's usually my answer to Dragonite dancers. I can't find a nice Tera for this one. Dragon shores up the fire weakness, but each time I used it, it always backfired due to losing my ground/poison immunity.

Great Tusk - I mean. It's Great Tusk. This is also a fully defensive set, in order to set up rocks multiple times per game if necessary, take a knock off, while still threatening Gholdengo / Kingambit and the likes. I'm not sure how much of a strong kingambit answer it really is. Considering dropping knock off for close combat.

Gholdengo - The resident spin blocker. I've won entire games with this set, because it walls a lot of mons really well, and hex + thunderwave is tough to deal with against a bulky Gholdengo. However, I can't decide on Make it Rain vs Dazzling Gleam vs something else as my last attacking move. MIR is my only offensive steel move, and Dazzling Gleam will be my only offensive fairy-type move. So each time I swap one for the other I end up missing the others.

These 4 I feel confident I can make a good team with these Pokémon as long as I tweak their sets some more. It's these last 2 Pokémon that can easily change, and probably should. They haven't felt very great to use.

Galarian-Slowking - This is supposed to be my specially defensive wall, and I appreciate the Moonblast resistance because mons like Iron Valiant would tear through Great Tusk / Darkrai with it, and Skarmory gets 2 shot by it, so it's not a switch-in. Gholdengo can work but it's just something to consider. I will say having a chilly reception is my saving grace against sun teams because so far this team has no strong priority to counter boosted mons like Ceruledge or chlorphyll mons like Venasaur, so having that option is really nice.

Dragapult - I realized I didn't have any speed control so I threw in a Dragapult, it's not I chose a physical set because I didn't have a strong physical attacker because Darkrai and Gholdengo are special. I'm considering making this banded Tera Dark for Sucker Punch, but I don't really like sucker punch as my only speed control. Especially against threats like Shadow Sneak +2 Ceruledge.

    Weakness

    - Overall, I have a large weakness to fire types; Dragapult is my only resist, but it's very frail, and doesn't have a good way to counter it. So fast physical fire-type attackers are usually really scary, though if I can get in Great Tusk, I can usually scare them away. So Mons like Blaziken, Ceruledge, Cinderace, and even Hisui Aracanine. Usually with special fire sweepers, I can usually get g-slowking in and then Chilly into great tusk.

    - Though it's not a good team, I played against 3 electric terrain teams with pinchurin, and the speed boosts that the Future Paradox monsters may get allow them to outspeed and hurt a lot of my mons (I probably need better speed control)

Let me know what you think I can improve on!
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
I strongly advise against Specs Pult. For a team like this I'd recommend going full HDB spam and not worrying about removal, this allows you to remove Tusk for Ting-Lu. Ghost types are a nightmare for you currently. I also strongly advise against Scarf Pult, it's not a good pokemon at all
hey pinka, ive been testing out this v create trick room victini team for around a week and a half, my main struggle is hazard stack and rain teams and i was wondering if its a matter of playing and rebuilding? Thank you!
Hi Pinkacross! I took a break from teambuilding for a while but I'm back and want to know what you think about this team: https://pokepast.es/195972e3c6d8b890. It seems pretty solid/standard so I can't tell if I'm making mistakes in piloting it or if I'm just losing to Ogerpon because it's Ogerpon. Let me know what you think! Thanks!
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
This doesn't seem weak to Wellspring. Perhaps try Body Press on Alo if you're still having issues. The team as a whole concerns me, you have 2 physical walls but nothing to take special hits, and it seems like a mix of balance and HO.
Hey Pinkacross, I remade that terrible team I gave you (sorry for wasting your time abt that) but I think I made it better with your advice, and I was wondering if you think this is better at all. I think I made two big changes here by switching dondozo for Keldeo and clef for SD Weavile which helped my offense a lot, and making treads spdef, but kyurem is still a problem. I was wondering if you could re rate it, thanks! https://pokepast.es/ebe91c0366271474
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
No worries at all, there's nothing wrong with making bad teams. I do it myself all the time. This is better but still struggles with lack of immediate power. I'd give it a 6/10 at a glance. I don't think this is weak to Kyurem.
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
Perhaps try CB Weavile, might be an improvement but might not.
Playing a discord tour where people make svou (minus tera) teams plus one designated Mon I got baxcaliber (no snow) and I tried building around it but what worked best was this archived sample https://pokepast.es/8535e5ac80a6f650 want to know what I could change to make it work better, although I could swap teams entirely if this one is too unreliable
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
I've never built bax without snow. CB is probably the way to go. This team dies to Wellspring though. I'd just rebuild and consider the modern threats
https://pokepast.es/283cfc3b988318b7 Decided to make a team around sinistcha + dondozo cuz it’s a good anti offense core + kind of skilless imo. Just wondering if you can rate this version on ten with some improvements. All I can say is that I’m not exactly about the items and some moves yet, and that wogerpon can be a very bad matchup if you don’t position properly, along with kyurem.
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
Yea Kyurem is horrifying here. Complete lack of offense worries me as well. I'd say 4/10. Seems kind of like a worse version of standard stall. I'd need to test to be sure but I'm not a fan of this
    Pinkacross
    Pinkacross
I'd ditch treads for an SD gliscor, that gives you a wincon and a better knock user
