  • I went digging and I found a save file of my perfect timid HG spread in another folder. It was before Red, before unlocking latias. So I unlocked latias and did the necessary steps to get to the Elite 4 to RNG it. I also made sure I had the enigma stone event on a Wondercard, to make this file as close to the same as the other file, so that only Red was different. I ended up with the same wild delays that leapt upward by increments of 50 or so. This was with Red still on his mountain. I haven't even unlocked the area. So that rules out Red on my game.

For me this leaves two possibilities: 1) The enigma stone, which I can rule out by doing the same steps again on a file where I do not receive the wondercard, and 2) the order in which I do the roamers, latias being last somehow causes weirdness when I haven't fainted them in order (this second option doesn't see so likely to me because I'm sure many people went after latias first since it's in a higher class).
Yeah, like just looking back at my notes, with very VERY little understanding of how to RNG in HG/SS it only took like 3 times each of hitting my seed and fiddling randomly with the radio to get my latias's, BUT here I am knowing full well how you're "supposed" to RNG in HG/SS and I probably hit my seed 12 times (in the fanclub) and finally just had to push it off till last at the E4.
Checking my notes, it looks like I used radio detuning to advance my frame to the target. This was back before we knew what station advanced how much at what time of day, so I wasn't at all sure how much it advanced by, I just tried it and then adjusted over and over again till I got it. Because of that I don't know if I can be really certain of wether or not the frames actually were consistent. They may not have been and I may have just gotten lucky.
Woah, yeah. That sounds like the complete opposite of what I just experienced. Like...dang it I deleted those old notes cuz they didn't make any sense to me, but before beating Red, at the Fanclub I was getting weird inconsistent frames that were about 7ish too high. I couldn't account for that. So I said, screw it, released, killed, RNG'd it at the E4 after beating Red (not that that was intentional).

Now of course, I have not experienced this before when I did a Timid Latios on an old runthrough on that cart, and a modest one too. But I RNG'd them both at the fanclub before beating Red (if memory serves me correctly) and I had no problems whatsoever... Oh wait I should have the notes for those last 2 runthroughs...
Yeah, I'm going to keep checking. I have a save file for my almost perfect timid spread on SS that's after the E4, but before unlocking Latios. So I just have to unlock Latios, faint him and give the RNG a go. I'll get back to you later on my results. The same game has a later save file after beating Red. I'll test that as well to see if it's behaving weirdly like the HG save.

In the meantime, I shall keep asking anyone I see who RNGed a roamer if they RNGed before or after beating Red, but perhaps you'd get a faster survey on smogonwifi?
I checked with CPrime. He did his recent roamer catch prior to Red because he noticed your post in the help thread. I've also VMed MattJ, because he also did a recent roamer catch, but he's currently not on line.

Fail on the older file, btw. It has Red missing, so for the perfect timid file, I must restart the game to be able to get the roamers. However, I do have other files to check from my other games. I'll be doing that next.
I'm checking an earlier game file which I hope does not have Red beaten. I will try again with it, if that's the case. I need to confirm that it's a B4 Red problem, since my swinging delays may not be the same thing as your odd frames.
Bad news. The delays are still jumping by increments of 50 or so to very high levels and then switching back down by equally high increments (or higher) with Red now standing on the mountain.

Do you know of anyone who's successfully done an RNG of the Roamers after Red has been defeated? I'm just wondering if something else is going on here. If this strangeness happened after getting the enigma stone only, for example.
I feel so much better now. I caught the Relicanth no problem, so it's just that file. Had to be sure. :-)
Yeah, I'll just go finish up a catch project now that the right swarm has appeared and go back to beating Lance. I'll see if Red's presence makes a difference then.
Yes, that might turn out to be the case. I may have to start the game file over just to do the roamer part. But first I'll go beat Lance on this file, check for Red, leave him alone, and try again. If he's present, perhaps the RNG returns to normal.
And now I've gone all the way up to 246 and I'm going down again by about 50 increments at a time. I don't believe I can get this RNG done with the roamers being this unstable.
Well, I have a major problem with RNGing this latias. The Roamers are asking for increases in delays by up to 50 points at a time. Then they suddenly swing back to 150 lower and then the cycle starts over. This is on the file with Red absent on the mountain top.

I may give this file a go a few more times, but then beat Lance and check that Red is back on the mountain, leave him alone, and try the latias RNG again.
Never mind the last (stupid) question. I got confused reading the guide, but someone helped me sort it out. It's just that the number of roamers present will cause the next roamer starting frame to advance by a number equal to the released roamers present, which in this case is two, and since one roamer is left, that means frame 3.
Sorry, I have a question. Since I have Raikou and Entei still on the map, dose Latias still spawn at 11 or does it spawn at 11+6+1, or some calculation other than that?
Sorry to bother you, but I had someone with an ICBB status post in my thread and for some reason can't seem to delete there post. Is there any way you could help me? I need it to be deleted so my partner can come in and set up their stuff.
Well, the other RNG was being a total pain for swinging delays, so I've set that aside for now. I've confirmed that my perfect timid/modest file has Red beaten at a certain date, so I will start with that particular save file. After that, I'll check to see if my oldest dated save file (but not the virgin version) has Red unbeaten. If all of them have Red beaten, I'll have to use one of my earlier SS files (the almost perfect timid/modest with low attack), because I'm pretty sure I have a very early save file before Red and not before the elite four either.
Just letting you know, it'll be a day or more before I have any results for you. I'm having difficulty with another RNG project I had on the go, so it's slowed me down.
I haven't been using the radio seed program at all. I can give it a try though. It does run on my computer.

If it all goes down right, I won't be able to test again, since I'll have saved the file on the retail card, so I wonder if I should try on a flash cart file. I just can't remember which file I may have beaten Red on. Maybe none. I'll have to beat him on one and not on the other.
