Yes, HGSS is way easier to figure out your frames. You can keep track of exactly where you are with Elm calls or Irwin. You can advance with Elm, Irwin, Joey and the radio. The only reason I can see to use DPPt for is if you absolutely have to have a pokemon bred and hatched in a special place on DPPt. Some people are fussy about that stuff.
