It does a lot of stuff, but you'd use it to decompress files. I don't use emus, so I don't know which of the two is better. I know that desmume lags on a lot of big games though.

Yes, I do. I haven't used no$ for a while though. To play a game, open no$, and it will make you choose a game. Go to where you have your rom and open it. Black and White need patches though to get around the anti piracy on the roms. If you don't patch the rom, your game will freeze randomly and your pokemon won't be able to get EXP from battles. To fix it, open up your rom, go to Utility > Cheats > Add New. From here, check the RAW and Action Replay DS boxes. The first code you put in is:

The top box is where you copy and paste the codes, the second one is what you name them. Name them whatever, it doesn't really matter. After you've added both, click the little check boxes next to them to turn them on, and click OK.

Uninstall and re-install, though time consuming, is a long-time standard of fixing weirdness in programs. :-)

Well, if you can't get it to stop seizing ROMs, you could uninstall java temporarily. Re-install your emulator to make sure it seizes control of the ROM, then reinstall Java.

Which windows are you operating in? On Windows 7, you can go into the control panel and remove the defaults on how files are opened. You can probably do that in earlier windows as well.

Go into Desume and see if it has an option for seizing control of ROM files. Also, go into the program that is highjacking it and see if you can tell it not to seize ROMs.

You should be able to right click the file to see what opens it and then choose the correct opening program. Edit: and also make sure the newly chosen program is clicked as default.
