Holding them from the instant you start until the white screen first shows up does the trick for me, I let go early mostly because of uncomfortable combos. :P

Does it have the right IVs? Keypresses are notorious for causing the Timer0 to jump around (but it allows for more results).

You might not like the wait, but it may be easier to set it a full minute before your target time. Pretty much guarantees you'll hit it unless you forget about it (lol), but it sucks to have to wait.
Personally, the earliest I can hit is 8 seconds, but that's using an original DS. I'd imagine it'd be different on a Lite.

Er, did you check the ESV and make sure it went to a Boldore? They're on 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. Suppose I should've asked earlier, but I think I misread one of your earlier posts and assumed you had it. :x
You'll have to find another spread with that ESV, and redo the Starting PID Frame business.
Switching is fine, you don't need to even listen to the whole cry, either.
If you have two Chatot, you can just switch between the two for speed.
