Hmm... Not formatted? I don't think its possible to get one like that unless it was brand new or something.
With a Gamecube you're able to format the memory card to get a clean slate (can't do that with a Wii). From there I could just gather some fresh XD saves and keep formatting it to see what in the save changes. Once I get enough saves it may be possible to use a hex editor to edit a save to match the memory card you're transferring it to. Sounds easy in theory but I doubt it will be. I'm sure there will be something that comes up.
Oh and both memory cards must have the same number of blocks used. So ideally just the XD save on both of them.

When you format the memory card it gets assigned a number somewhere. I believe the save checks for that number and if it's not correct it throws the corrupt error.
Yeah. Because it's protected when you transfer the save to another card the game says the save is corrupted when it's really not. It's simply not matching some hidden value on the memory card or something. There's an AR code for it in the XD Soft Resetters group somewhere.
It's not so much that. I just bought a 3rd party memory card from a local pawn shop for $5 and I can transfer saves to and from it (my only GC title also has protected saves.. go figure). It's just getting the game to recognize the save as not corrupted. I can't even do that with two memory card files on the emulator. AFAIK I'm going to need either a memory card or know how to edit the save to work with my memory card.
There is an app that can make a 3rd party memory card work as an AR but that stopped working with system menu 3.2... My Wii came with 4.1. I hear it's very risky downgrading the system menu, especially w/o a vulnerable boot2.

Unfortunately RAM hacking is the only way at this time. It took me a couple of hours to figure it out but I managed to catch a penta-flawless Adamant Teddiursa. I'm currently on hold for further captures until I know for sure that I'm able to transfer the save to a 3rd party GC memory card. No point in doing a lot of work if I can't ever get the pokes on to a GBA game.
