i've been in the can on this webpage for 20 years to the day and have made 10k posts of varying quality, which have earned 15k reactions. and what have i learned after all that? there is nothing funnier than posting an image of a dog taking a shit
over the past 20 years i have spent literal _hours_ making threads. i even made an alt at one point and went to great length to log in from work/a vpn only so that its ip address was different to mine, because i wanted people to connect with my _posts_.
this went beyond what kids call effortposting these days. and you know what? it's functionally no different to this thread: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/poast.3687615/. Posting is not about the craft, it's not about the effort you put in. It's about expressing whatever is in your head and sharing it with someone as one conscious being's attempt to reach across the void to connect with another. and yeah that thing you're expressing might some entire cinematic universe or it might be a dog taking a dump on a lawn. but if that touches another human in a way much like the dog's turd touches the grass, you've posted imo.
I could be all "posting ain't what it used to be" but brother, people have been saying that for years. The game has always been the same: you express your ideas through words and images through a screen. oh but you never got the dopamine hit from reacts in 2007 things were better back then SHUT the fuck up dopamine deez nuts you were still getting responses to your threads. posting has never been a solitary activity. there's a reason nobody has ever called journalling a type of posting
shout outs to faint, gato, shade, bp, the big kakuna himself (chaos) and monkfish who is sadly not with us because he's too busy telling his eastern european neighbours to stop playing such loud fucking music
this 10k has been directly sponsored by total clefairy who has liked almost every single one of my posts over the past few years
