Assault Vest (Iron Hands) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 232 HP / 140 Atk / 96 Def / 40 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Supercell Slam
- Close Combat
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
When Iron Hands shows up in the 1v1 ring, you know it's going to be a tough foe to defeat! Compared to its Attack Booster Energy set, Assault Vest allows Iron Hands to flip the matchup on its usual checks, letting it survive most Moonblasts from Primarina and Choice Specs Iron Valiant to threaten them back with an OHKO. While Iron Hands can use its dual STAB moves to super effectively target Pokemon like Volcanion, Manaphy, and Urshifu-S, Assault Vest also helps it secure more dubious matchups against strong special attackers it can't initially OHKO such as Raging Bolt and Walking Wake. The given EVs allow Iron Hands to survive two Flower Tricks from Adamant Choice Band Meowscarada, use Heavy Slam turn 1 against Play Rough variants to guarantee the matchup; take two Draco Meteors and Hydro Pump + Draco Meteor from Special Attack Booster Energy variants of Raging Bolt and Timid Walking Wake, respectively; and survive Moonblast from Modest Choice Specs Iron Valiant. Iron Hands appreciates partners that cover its weaknesses to tricky Psychic-types like Metagross and Iron Crown and Ground-types such as Ursaluna, so Pokemon like Corviknight, Volcanion, and Manaphy work well with it.
