Big Baller Barraskewdas
SV Bo7: eblurb
SV: Nuxl
SV: rssp1
SS Bo7: crow crumbs
SS: Aliss
SM: Rellia
ORAS: Inkreativ
BW: Taka
Subs: Fancy1, NTG cuz IDK, Spenceair

First up, we have Barras alumnus crow "I'm not signing up" crumbs accompanied by 1v1 enjoyer and DPP phenom Nuxl, who signed up spontaneously to take over last years winning franchise. From last year, they retained Taka for 10k, BW 1v1 player and an enjoyer of mons. Probably the most valuable retain in the tour who should put up another good record in the snooze tier.

In SV Bo7, they dropped 20k for the headliner of this team in now 3 time barraskewda eblurb (Class of PL VI, VII). He has a combined record of 13-5 the past two pls, unfortunately this guy has the tft nerf so this is a fat overpay and will probably not be worth it. At his highs though, he can give this team the firepower it needs. The other SV slots are taken up by Nuxl, who smoked everyone in DPP which should be a good indicator of how he does against this SV Bo5 pool. They also have rssp1, who I guess is a mafia industry plant? Shrug. In SS Bo7 is bird himself, who should surpass his two win quote this tour because I think these days he's developed a really good understanding of the SS tier and how he likes to play it, which I think is really important these days in 1v1 old gens. He'll likely be building for the SS Bo5 slot in Alice, a good choice for a person to pass teams to. Considering she signed up, I figure she has the motivation to play and do well even though I haven't seen her play in ages. In SM, we have another Barras alumnus Rellia (Class of PL VI), who did well in WC in this tier and should be able to perform in this SM pool straight out of 2019. In ORAS we have Inkreativ, top tier ORAS player. While Ink is really good, the ORAS pool is strong, so it's unclear how good of a record he'll get. Then in BW they have Masayoshi Takanaka. For subs, we have Fancy1 (I better not see the account BBB Giddey appear) who they started rssp over, NTG Cuz IDK, 1v1 history extraordinaire and solid builder, and Spenceair who idk but I think they are into SV. Not the worst subs overall.

Overall, I think this team is strong and should make playoffs with relative ease. They have a lot of good pieces and should have a good vibe based on the past teammates and personalities they have. On the other hand, their SV is questionable and they do lack star power if eblurb doesn't light on fire again, which are factors that could cause them to falter in playoffs.

Playful Panchams
SV Bo7: Kaif
SV: Vertigo
SV: avarice
SS Bo7: Close
SS: feen
SM: bea
ORAS: LittEleven
BW: QWILY
Subs: Freddy Kyogre, lemonstre1

Last year's runner ups are again managed by Kaif, this time joined by fellow mafia and TFT aficionado LittEleven. I forgot these two weren't on the same team last year NGL but they are now! This team had no retains, then as if they were in a mock draft dropped 30k (thirty thousand) on superstar SS player Close. 30k? Guys? 30k is way too much for anyone, BUT THEN they elected to drop 18500 (eighteen thousand five hundred) on Vertigo??? GUYS????????????? I don't think he's touched 1v1 since world cup so I would say WE ARE LIVING IN NORTH KOREA but he's a jerk pick so whatever man. Also, idk what happened in the auction to where another team bid him that high in the first place. Let's see how the rest of their team turned out!

In SV Bo7 we have Kaif, global cup finalist and grandmaster TFT player. He never puts up good records in regular season and I don't really expect that to change. In SV, we have the aforementioned 18.5k Vertigo, who did go 5-2 last year but the tier is quite a bit different now, and avarice, 2 time wc champion playing no games. I kinda thought they would start lemonstre here, I think he was on SEU and plays SV? plunder did well last year so avarice can, although no delemon this time. In SS Bo7 we have Close, probably the best or at least top 3 players in the entire tour. He'll do well but he isn't gonna do 30k because that's well, not possible. In SS Bo5 we have feen, a fellow Bangladeshi. I think they played in global cup and swiss? Not sure but it wasn't in SS, which is historically a tier non mainers don't do well in. In SM we have bea, who had a mini ascension recently and is one of the modern players in the SM pool. Does that mean she does well? Unclear, but I think so. In ORAS we have LittEleven, arguably the best in the pool considering his ORAS record the past year. In BW we have QWILY, who is going to get the brokens passed to him and will do fine. For subs we have the aforementioned lemonstre and Freddy Kyogre, who is good for 1-2 wins off the bench but Not More.

Overall, while this team has some good pieces, we got BIS Syndra (Close) and Fated Emblem on Ornn (Litt), but the rest of the board is pretty much 1 star units, so this team is gonna need to high roll otherwise it's gonna be a fast 8th.

Metro Boomin' Megarays
SV Bo7: neomon
SV: Slip
SV: Marshme1to
SS Bo7: glitched
SS: luser
SM: Iron Crusher
ORAS: torterraxx
BW: Palestine
Subs: LongRat, Frostyicelad

DEG returns to manage the megarays, this time alongside his kitten DezShizzels, longtime 1v1 player and manager. They retain Slip Gilgeous Alexander from last years semifinals campaign for 10k to play SV. Contrary CM incident aside, Slip was solid last year and do fine again this year.

In SV Bo7 we have the neomonster, Megarays franchise player who went for pennies considering some of the other prices in the auction. Neomon is just a good player, so he should be able to hold his own despite the new gen. He did it in SS, after all. Alongside Slip in SV bo5 we have Marshme1to, 1v1pl and UMPL champion who will be able to hold his own in the bo5 pool. In SS Bo7, we have glitched, who has been one of the best SS players the past few tours and is positioned to put up another good performance alongside luser, a solid SS mainer and role player. In SM we have Iron Crusher, back from the dead. The last time they were active they put up good numbers, and the SM pool being from 2019 bodes well for them. However, they still could be crust and do poorly. In ORAS, we have torterraxx playing his first PL. He's a good player but I've always found his ORAS teams bland, though I'm not sure how much that'll matter these days. For subs we have LongRat who I see do SV stuff and frosty, who is good at everything but winning games as a sub.

Overall, this team is really good, with a lot of good pieces, but has some question marks, including their SV and whether IC is crust or not because they don't have high quality subs. Still should be a shoe in for playoffs and to contend for the title.

RPS Rhyperiors
SV Bo7: Lumii
SV: Murm
SV: Kala chasmah
SS Bo7: Here Comes Team Charm!
SS: Fragments
SM: Elo Bandit
ORAS: Synonimous
BW: dreepy
Subs: ihbst, gyffyrd, Clementine

Elo Bandit and Murmdog return to manage RPS for the third straight year after making playoffs the past two. To help them make a third, they retain Lumi, who went 7-0 last year in SV Bo7 + 1 BW win (dodged delemon for little reason?), and appears ready to do it again.

For their other SV slots, we have Murm, who has performed well in the current gen in PL historically and should be able to again in this SV meta. Alongside him is Kala chasmah, an up and coming nightmare to schedule with who should be able to hold their own in SV3. In SS Bo7, we have HCTC back from the dead. Not sure how well they will be able to adjust to recent trends in the SS meta, so they may struggle. Their match vs Mishlef week 1 could be an indicator of how the rest of their season goes. They have Fragments alongside them in the SS Bo5, who did excellent last pl and should be in a good situation to do it again here as one of the best players in the Bo5 pool. In SM, we have Tyler Bandit himself, who has historically not done very well in pl, but did have an excellent performance in the most recent OGPL and has been one of, if not the most active SM player the past however many years, which should bode well for him in this player pool. Elo is joined by fellow US West player Synonimous in ORAS, who has been a demon in world cup in this tier but hasn't played ORAS in pl before. I rate Synon highly as a player and he should be able to perform well even in this ORAS pool. In BW they have dreepy who was on their OGPL team and will just get passed teams by Lumii or whoever and do average. For subs they randomly have gyffyrd??? Then ihbst who I think does SV stuff, and Clementine who played some games last year on the David Nadal's and I think won one.

Overall, this is probably the best lu RPS has had and should make playoffs and contend for the trophy again even if Lumii falls back to Earth due to the strength of their other slots. This franchise always seems to fail in semis though. Will this be the year they make it over the hump?

Trigger-Happy Thwackeys
SV Bo7: Blanched
SV: DripLegend
SV: Miyoko
SS Bo7: Mishlef
SS: xdRudi.exe
SM: Jamez
ORAS: Waylaid
BW: LpZ
Subs: Feaniix, One Last Kiss, Ina fable

The original manager of the Thwackeys RADUOLOGY, fresh off his unban, joins 1v1TL and circuit champion DripLegend after they finished in 5th last year. They got to self buy Drip for 11k because he doesn't win games, but elected not to buy RADUOLOGY because he didn't want to spend that much on himself BECAUSE HE IS CRUST!!!!!! So where did that 18.5k go? Basically exactly where one might have expected.

In SV Bo7 we have Blanched, who in his last 1v1pl campaign before being sent to the shadow realm for a year had an excellent tour. He qualled for LT so I assume he's in tune with SV and should do well here. Joining him in SV is Drip, who indeed does not win games but actually plays the tier which should work in his favor in the SS Bo5 pool. They are also joined by Miyoko, who has won quite a few SV games in random tours and should do fine in SV 3. In SS Bo7 we have Mishlef, who isn't as bad as he plays but he plays real bad sometimes. Like bird, he has a vision for how he plays the tier which is good, but will he play well or overthink himself into 2-5? Time will tell. Joining him in SS is the dump 2 Kassadin enjoyer Rudi, who I think played SV in world cup? He should be able to get some wins with the support he has on this squad. In SM we have Jamez fresh off his tourban, I'm pretty sure he did well in 2019 world cup in this tier so he should be fine in this player pool. In ORAS we have Waylaid, who has played and done well in this tier in world cup. Waylaid has done average in pl since the original barras, and will probably continue to do so in this ORAS pool. In BW they have LpZ who I see play like every tour on smogon and should do ok with RADU and other's assistance. Where is A Hero's Destiny though? For subs they have tour players Feaniix and One Last Kiss, and Ina fable who I don't actually know. /shrug

Overall this team screams mid to me but can contend for playoffs if things work out. They have a lot of players who you would expect to do average, so it's unclear who exactly or what combination of people can put them over the hump. They also might struggle to find the right combination of their role players, which could hurt them.

Drive-by Dragapults
SV Bo7: delemon
SV: bern
SV: rumia
SS Bo7: zo
SS: Bomb21XD
SM: Krytocon
ORAS: SwordIsBored
BW: Opchurtle100
Subs: Lialiabeast, Eeveekid10, ZackPalace

Taking over the Dragapults after the death of David Nadal is berndawg and Nathan "SwordIsBored", both of their first times managing premier league. They retain Krytocon, who has been doing really well in recent times and was definitely worth the retain. Then.... THEN.... THEY DROPPED HOW MUCH ON DELEMON????? 34000 (thirty four thousand)???????? THIS WAS A MOCK DRAFT!!! WE ARE LIVING IN NORTH KOREA!!!! Ok like if anyone is worth that price it's delemon but holy shit dude what???? WHO ELSE WAS BIDDING ON THIS???? It does make sense for this manager pair to get her because they needed a superstar but holy shit dude. Anyway, let's see how they built their team around spending 34k on one player.

In SV Bo7 they have the aforementioned 34k delemon, who almost heroically went 9-0 last year but was slain by eblurb in the finals, and is definitely going to have to do some heavy lifting for this team to perform. The other SV slots include bernian sanders, who has done ok in the SV tours he's played, and rumia, who has had a mini resurgence recently with a solid global cup performance. These two get the delemon boost, but will probably still do average. They notably have sufys on the bench who I think is good at the game. In SS Bo7 we have lonzo, who went for pretty cheap tbh and should be able to get 2-3 wins here depending on how much they play. In the Bo5 we have Bomb21XD who is probably gonna farm the Bo5 pool in the 2024th year of our lord. In SM they have their retain Krytocon because it's 2019. In ORAS we have Nathan "got raw 3-0'd by TR Garde G5 in ORAS in OGPL" SwordIsBored, who will probably get bodied in this ORAS pool, especially if they get raw 3-0'd by TR Garde in G5's. However, to those reading this, it's not about how many S tier mons you get 3-0'd by, it's about how many S tier mons you get 3-0'd by and get back up! In BW we have Doug? Doug is my guy and a delemon player, but to me doug is not the type to start week in and week out in pl, so we'll probably see Lialiabeast or Eeveekid in the rotation here. Both of those two should be able to win games off the bench in any tier, so they were good pickups for subs. Idk who ZackPalace is, I think I've seen their name before doing SV stuff though.

Overall what am I supposed to say about this team man. They have a lot of average to below average players on their team, so it's gonna take some overperformances or delemon being like 2018 LeBron to get this team to playoffs.

Hyperspace Horrors
SV Bo7: bo_bobson27
SV: lost heros
SV: happysh
SS Bo7: lolebruh
SS: Liimpy
SM: Felucia
ORAS: seroo
BW: AlyssaVGC
Subs: Lemonlime78, DC

The Horrors franchise gets taken over by lost heros and Felucia, managers of the Gogoats back to manage PL. Known for spamming GOATS in the chat, what will they spam this tour. HORRORS? Not a vibe. We'll see what they come up with. They retained 1v1 swiss winner bo_bobson27 for 24k, which in this economy was probably worth it as an offbrand Jacob. But then... THEY SPENT HOW MUCH ON LOLEBRUH WHAT???? WHERE DID THIS COME FROM???? He's a good player but that price I had no expectation of, especially not from this manager pair. So, with 44k spend on Giboney and lolebruh, how did the rest of their lineup turn out?

In SV Bo7 we have Giboney himself, who I think has gotten a lot better as a player since last pl and should do fine in Bo7. Alongside him in SV is lost heros, who was the opponent of bo in swiss finals. Lost heros does not have a reputation for winning games, but his activity and recent performance in SV should allow him to get some wins this tour. They also picked up happysh, a pretty unsurprising but good pickup for them. They easily have the most active SV core of people with generally interesting ideas, so it'll be interesting to see what they bring. In SS Bo7 we have 20k lolebruh, who ima say does average in this Bo7 pool. In the Bo5 they have Liimpy, who has been one of the best SS Bo5 players in recent tours and looking to put up a big record in the big leagues this time, and he has a good situation to be able to do so. In SM we have Felucia, who has become more active again in 1v1 lately and should enjoy this playing this player pool. She also slayed Close with a galvantula in OGPL, which guarantees her at least a couple wins this tour. In ORAS they picked up seroo, the lolebruh package deal who I don't know but is probably going fast 8th in this ORAS pool. Can probably get 1-2 wins. In BW they have Alyssa who I thought quit but is Back for some Snorlax Thundurus-Incarnate Water action Yahoo! Alyssa's good player should do good. For subs they have LemonLime78 who I don't know but is definitely a room person, and DC, former Sootopolis City Snorlax, who both can probably win off the bench.

Overall, this team has a lot of question marks so it's hard to say how good they will do. I view their SV as their strength, but their Bo5 players are someone who went 0-7 and someone who hasn't played pl before, so /shrug. I think they have some good pieces like Giboney and their SS, and if things go right they can contend for playoffs.

Hellfire Heatrans
SV Bo7: RTM
SV: recti
SV: Indi01
SS Bo7: Nick
SS: stravench
SM: Sanshokuinsumireko
ORAS: Mubs
BW: PA
Subs: Akuu, Exotic64, Frito, Baddy, Portrait or Ruin, Go greeninja

Last years 8th place franchise is taken over by their one shining light in RTM, alongside his friend and two time Barraskewda nLcholas (Class of Pl VI, Pl VII). RTM wants to turn this franchise around after last year and return them to their former glory of winning PL (Heatrans won 1v1PL 3). Will he be successful? Interestingly, this team bought the most players in the auction with 14, and their most expensive buy was Sansho at 11500, so let's see how their lineup turned out.

In SV Bo7 we have RTM aka swag god himself, who has been excellent the past year in 1v1 and is looking to continue that as the star yapper player of this team. Joining him in SV is recti, who is a major fucking yapper but is doing well in lt I think? God knows how he does here, but I look forward to 100s of messages in 1v1 discord of him talking about his games every week regardless of outcome. Their other SV Bo5 is Indi01, global cup winner and Archaludon enjoyer. I teamed with Indi in the prestigious TTT, and I rate him highly but I think he can be hit or miss because sometimes he just loses to the move earthquake or the pokemon Hoopa-Unbound formation or something. If he develops his fundamentals a bit more he's gonna do really well in this pool though. In SS Bo7 we have Nick, who has historically not done well outside of the barra's system, but if he's motivated to do well here he definitely can. In SS Bo5 we have stravench who went for 6500??? Guys???? A really cheap price to pay for him. He has the potential to underperform of course, but he's at least an excellent teammate and cares, how is he going for 6500????? He probably does average here though, but better than his price tag would suggest. In SM they have Sansho AKA the goat, who ima say destroys the 2019 SM pool. In ORAS we have Mubs, who I was shocked signed up tbh, but he seems to be locked in and ready to put up a good record as he usually does in ORAS. In BW they have PA who is going to do mid to bad because that's what PA does. For subs they have Akuu, former mega ray who shoulda beat delemon 2 (two) times last year but catastrophes happened each time, Exotic64 who won world cup I guess??? and did well in GC, Frito who was a good sub in OGPL, Portrait or Ruin who I do not know, Baddy who I do not know, and Go greeninja who has some results in SV and SS and I think is friends with recti.

When I first saw this draft I thought what the fuck happened here, but when I see the lineup actually put together it's solid. I think this team contends for playoffs, but I think it's lacking in firepower and has a lot of slots that can potentially underperform.

Pools
Just some quick notes about player pools to synthesize some stuff I've talked about in this post.

SV: SV is in a strange place for a current gen. A lot of the players starting in it don't have a lot of results, and the current gen generally has a good amount of variance, so who knows how it's going to go. I suspect SV will develop rather quickly in this tour, and the first teams to figure it out are going to profit and get a lot of free wins. Think of last year when people got farmed by stall zapdos, or diancie, or clear amulet sylv. I suspect the same sorts of things to happen here. There is also the Regidrago angle where we might see drago teams run the tour like Drago/Corv/Volc in world cup.
SS: I'm quite pleased with how the two SS slots worked out. I think both slots have quality player pools, and look forward to how various people interpret the meta.
SM: Rellia, Felucia, Elo Bandit, Jamez, Krytocon, Iron Crusher. It's like a time machine to before even I started heh. Should be fun, but I suspect minimal innovation from this player pool. It will be interesting to see how bea and sansho handle playing the rest.
ORAS: Powerful pool, really the only weak player is seroo, so I expect everyone to beat each other and there to be a lot of 4-3's and 3-4's.
BW: I sleep

I don’t feel like writing more, Megarays, barras, rps make playoffs easily, then heatrans make it in week 7, enjoy the tour

Ight I really hope i can quote this shit.

wew why this idea of mine sprung up just now

1719413172227-png.643400

Let's say DPP 1v1 got included in this iteration of PL, how competitive would this iteration be without the metagame leader in the mix? Provided SS 1v1 Bo7 got nuked due to that affair:

Big Baller Barraskewdas
Players: Inkreativ, Nuxl
crow crumbs might be able to play in SV, with Nuxl being able to breeze DPP while Inkreativ can still play ORAS for that matter. If Inkreativ's going to play DPP, though, I have no idea what would the potential lineup would be...

Playful Panchams
Players: Close, LittEleven
Panchams' potential DPP slot would be an interesting case here as Close is as close (no pun intended) as a player could be there, but he's not exactly as dedicated to play such meta in team tours despite being a finalist in DPP 1v1 Cup VII; apart from Close though, not sure if there would be dedicated builders to feed teams with...

Metro Boomin' Megarays
Players: Slip, neomon
I think Slip can play DPP just fine; neomon didn't get playing time in the more recent DPP metagame due to the OGPL II slot used by me. In terms of building support, same with the Playful Panchams situation (unless neomon and even DEG can extract some of my interesting ideas from there). In terms of slotting, glitched remains as the SS option while luser can play SV

RPS Rhyperiors
Players: Lumii, dreepy, Elo Bandit, Synonimous
Rhyperiors team here is a fountain of past and present DPP players, with Elo Bandit providing a lot of support given his knowledge he accumulated in the metagame. Definitely worth watching out for; heck, Elo Bandit might recruit one from his team to play DPP and just do fine!

Trigger-Happy Thwackeys
Players: Jamez
Looks like Jamez is going to run like how Euphonos can run solo and win games, since I didn't see anyone else who could take on the DPP slot. In terms of slotting, I have no idea who could take on the void Jamez would leave without it; probably Mishlef or xdRudi could be capable in being slotted there, but I'm uncertain in their ability to play in the same level as Jamez would.

Drive-By Dragapults
Players: Lialiabeast(?)
So many potential old-gen players like Opchurtle100 and Eeveekid10 in the ADV department, but I honestly don't know who's going to take on that slot except for potentially Lialiabeast (Felucia mentioned to me that the Gogoats will actually have Lialiabeast play DPP if I didn't get drafted). bern and Sword, who were Gogoats teammates of mine in the most recent OGPL, might be able to extract some information from my team building shenanigans; otherwise, I have no idea who's supporting in that slot.

Hyperspace Horrors
Players: Felucia(!), lost heros(!)
Why the OGPL Gogoats team ironically don't have a dedicated DPP slot... Are they leaving that much to me getting drafted!? Anyway, Felucia and lost heros would be dedicated enough with my enthusiasm to do DPP things; otherwise, this would mean Felucia has to give up their SM slot to someone, plus I don't know who'd be able to step up to immerse in such uncharted territory.

Hellfire Heatrans
Players: stravench, PA
nuff said; stravench can just play DPP instead of an SS7 slot (surprisingly like Close) and can just win games from there lol. Not to mention PA can provide some support; heck, even Sanshoinsumireko could be able to lend a hand if things don't work as planned.

If that's the case, [imaginary] DPP 1v1 power rankings in an Euphonos-less PL:

1. Barraskewdas
2. Heatrans
3. Rhyperiors
4. Thwackeys
5. Megarays
6. Panchams
7. Dragapults
8. Horrors

Anyway, have fun in this PL~
(and yes, I think the DPP pool is quite a competitive one to be included in the next iteration!)

so ig i'm supposed to do my post here.

just like WC7 it's gonna be a long one so if you just care about how i feel about specific players i bought or don't care about mental health stuff honestly it just doesn't matter.

what you will need is a song to hear if you're planning to read this whole thing, so here ya go.
as you many know, sword and i originally planned to manage heatrans, as we knew that stravench and baleblaze had no interest in reviving it
1723455477965.png

but of course, as the story goes, rtm makes his post and signs up with nick and from there we thought our chances were totally over, as seroo and lolebruh had gone for pults, we had given it an honest try but this is where it ended... except we got pults instead of them somehow? i'm lowkey still baffled, as seroo and lolebruh are not only an extremely solid core but also quite interested in 1v1 themselves, i can't really say why they weren't picked over us tbh, they're really good.

from there i set up everything, the server, tryouts, the delemon bit, etcetera. and from there until the draft that was pretty much it, i have like over 40 sv/ss/bw replays that only sword, kry and i can see of the tryouts (ofc, we didn't need oras and sm as those were slots already decided).

the draft starts i have 70k and suddenly i have 36k and one delemon. might look like a throw but everything was coldly calculated. delemon perfectly fitted my empty holes in sv and ss and would certainly bring life to them, then i buy bomb for 4.5, nothing too crazy there just a regular ss5 player. after a while of preserving my money and waiting for others to spend on bigger players i end up buying tenzhii for 5? 5k ss7 player??? what a treat for me! from there it's all smooth sailing, i buy lialiabeast for 6 as an incredible sub and a potential BW slot. i buy eeveekid as another great sub. sufys for 6 after a "Keep Him Dickhead" from rtm, turned out as a blessing for me. finally at the very end i buy rumia for 4, doug for 3 and zack for 4.5, ending my draft. my draft looked kinda crazy but overall i think i kinda made it work? i went to vc right after and i remember felucia telling me it was "a draft i would do if lost heros wasn't there" and considering i idealized it and improvised completely on command i think i did a great job as my first time actually drafting.

this was my plan going into the draft. (terrible i know)
1723457158513.png

anyway that's it for genesis, not gonna say much about every week individually aside from how it affected me in the mental health section
we're gonna go from least to most expensive, ending with retain and managers last.
Record: 1-3
Tier: SS
Judgment: honestly you're probably one of the proudest buys as you were capable of doing a lot more than i would ever have imagined the moment i typed ".nom Eeveekid10". you helped in every gen and really gave a ton of life to the team and you gave a really good fight on ss5 as well, so overall a great buy and a great player, definitely worth more than what i bought you for.
Record: 1-2
Tier: BW
DOUG DID. LIKE SERIOUSLY THAT LAST WIN WAS SO HYPE. you saved our bw from 0-x man what can i say, your teams are great and you carried bw as much as you could, watching you helping zack improve was also very nice to see, just overall a really nice guy and i'm very proud to have drafted you.
Record: 1-3
Tier: SV
don't let that record decieve you, you performed really well. your win against bea was super hype, and you really fought your losses to the bitter end, it was very beautiful to see, as i knew you had it in you since mspl and i ran with it, and you showed tangible promise once again. so thanks for playing!
1723520026535.png
Record: 0-2
Tier: SS
it's my fault that you didn't win any games really, i just didn't slot you enough, which kinda sucks, but yeah, you're a great player, you brought great help to ss and even sv, and you did your best, ánimo.
Record: 0-3
Tier: BW
if you continue to pursue 1v1 i have no doubts that you have a bright future, it was just wrong of me to think you were quite ready for stuff like PL, but at least it works as a learning experience, you'll be steamrolling through bw soon enough tho, just you wait until classic.
Record: 5-2
Tier: SS Bo7
1723521350542.png

mother of god is that 5k for the best ss7 in the pool? is this the biggest underpay in pl8? damn right it is. you absolutely demolished it like it was nothing, getting win after win and always motivated to build, this was definitely an incredible surprise but still a welcome one, your career in ss is far from over though, so keep on going!
Record: 0-1
Tier: SS
you're probably my biggest regret in terms of that i wish i could've slotted you more and i probably should've slotted you in somewhere like bw in hindsight but in reality there wasn't much room with so many players. i really hope i get to manage a team with you in it again because you don't deserve what i did to you this pl.
Record: 3-2
Tier: SV / ORAS
just a great sver, also beat kaif in 4 in oras, overall your future in 1v1 just keeps on looking brighter and brighter, and i can't wait to see where it goes next, hope to see you again!
Record: 5-2
Tier: SV Bo7
thank you so much for being a part of the team, it was really fun to be building alongside you or doing anything with you in general, you helped in every slot you could and gave tips on quite literally everything, from building with zo and the sv slots to always checking in with the other slots, the team would not have been the same without you.
Record: 5-2
Tier: SM
once i saw my options for retains i very much knew that you were the guy for the job, and it paid off tremendously. i'm so glad to have retained you and you really brought sm to life for us, ik that i was originally gonna have you for sv but your determination for sm was truly inspiring and now that it's over i can say that i wouldn't have it any other way, tysm for accepting.
Record: 2-4
Tier: ORAS
you did great as a player, even if your record or your thoughts or literally anything says otherwise, you're still sword and that's never going to change, much of the other stuff is private so i'll stop here.
Record: 3-4
Tier: SV / BW
3-3 sv2 ain't half bad after being a 3-4 sv3 last year, still slowly but surely improving as a player as time goes on which is nice to see. more info in mental health section.
whew, that was some reading, anyway onto
i've been doing much better as of late, though there are certain thorns poking through that make things untidy, such as finding out certain stuff that happened years ago and having to deal with school and PL and hosting tours hasn't been the healthiest for me, though my psychologist has helped me to keep things mostly in place. i'm still improving as a player and for the most part i think i did well as a manager (despite that one incident, which i believe was just impulse, but like there'll probably be a manager survey just like last year so you can always voice your thoughts there, however idt any of my players have anything bad to say about me), me dropping to bw was supposed to be like, the original idea, but in hindsight it was so terrible idk why we even tried it, but yeah that one was my b. i like to recognize mistakes so if people have any to tell me pls do, i just wanna improve as a person in general and also get ready for world cup which is gonna be even tougher on me, but hopefully things come together and i can do it with little issue.
Joker 1v1 ty for being a supporter
glitched AlyssaVGC ty for your help even though you weren't in the main thing
ty to every dragapult for existing
and finally
ty to LRXC for introducing me to 1v1 dude unironically you made this my life now
this concludes my involvement with PL8, it was a very jolly rollercoaster, there were ups and downs but yk, we ended on a really high note, and if i ever get another chance at management i don't think i'll decline.

see u on the flipside

Everyone deserves a seperate segment so everyone is getting a seperate segment. I'll also mald about what I did wrong.

As seen many times before you and I make a great team. Thanks for believing in me again and asking me to headline the Line-Up even though I got spanked more often than I clapped back. And thanks for helping out when I wasn't able to get my shit together when I had to. Idt we could've wished for a better manager.
Once you started actually doing stuff the tiers you were assigned to went very well. As seen by tort and IC both going 4-2 after Week 1 and 2. You aren't much of a leader in terms of your voice but you're good at what you do and the best for the occasional PM pep talk or build-up.I wish we started involving you in SV Prep earlier and sometimes I wish I wouldn't talk so much shit about you cause you're eventually gonna take something personally. Recharge until WCOP so we can try to not tiebreak again
I was really impressed with you for the first few weeks. I didn't really know whats going on in general and I just saw u win week after week. After the point of the hearthflame ban I think the tier needed some more attention and your IRL situation or motivation just didnt allow it. I think you also lost your mojo eventually, understandably since you didnt win a game for 4 weeks. First half of the season I really admired your attitude and how funny/nice u are. Stay that way. We'll meet again.
I know we teamed up for OGPL but I really didn't notice anything that was going on in that tour besides my own slot and I barely noticed what was going on there. So I really didn't know what to expect from you. You're a good ass player but too lazy for your own good. Didn't happen once we were in G4 of a series and we needed to recycle a team from some other slot and lost :psysad: I think you'd be the perfect pairing next to some real support which I couldn't offer.
I think you made a lot of friends this tour just because of the way you act and are and I'm happy for you. You were easily worth the money even if you hadn't done your best to build and test with us. Yes there's a lot to learn in regards to building and playing still but You were a crucial support piece and I think there's something big growing here. We'll go train in the mountains to get you ready for WCOP-domination.
Baller. Not much more to say. I think you got way too into your head after you got thrown to the SS7 wolves at first. Mixed w some IRL business that ended up with you having somewhat of a slump the later reg season weeks i think outside of the week you just dissapeared as a whole theres basically nothing to fault you for and I'd support you being on the team again for sure.
SO GOOD. BUT SO CONFUSING. first five weeks were really bad for you idt theres any denying that. After the series you overslept i think you got your act together more and tried to be everywhere you could. I wish you helped out more in SV though as opposed to helping other teams prep for some of their slots or whatever. I think your own team should always be a priority in these tours. I think you're really gifted at the game and if i had even a 10th of the feel for team and setbuilding of you id never lose a game again. I think the way to go is to just draft some more mainers along side you so you dont have to build on your own and the tour would've gone quite differently
I hadn't interacted with you before this so I didn't know what to expect. You're on the quieter and slower side when it comes to prep, I think you just like to map stuff out in peace and properly. You were very dependable and delivered when we needed you and very supportive all around.
Since I've seen you around for a while i was under the assumption you were some hidden goat or just good old reliable, think as the season went along you were like really really good at noticing your mistakes and where to improve and ultimately building on that. I'd say you had the steepest learning curve over the 8 weeks. Good work.
there's nothing much to say. you're one of the top clickers on side and as long as you have a reliable source of teams i dont see how you could ever go negative in a tour. You're the only one we went into every week knowing they just show up and deliver. being up 1-0 every week is nice
yea no

I put way too much pressure on myself this tour. By now its a pattern that just keeps on repeating itself every few years. I try to carry a team, I fail. I have never had a season with this many just raw in game sequencing or picking blunders, from clicking the 0-3 multiple times to just not identifying my outs in situations i need to position myself to win. Ultimately the games I'm speaking off likely would'nt have made much of a difference in the grand scheme of things since the series were still lost or the clicks would have still been wrong but the fact I didnt get into the position in the first place is something thats gonna annoy me for a while. I tried to hard to figure out the tier and everything around it and just got caught in a paranoid building cycle where I could not put out usable teams at a fast enough rate to where me or my teammates had anything from it. In a way this is very reminiscent of 2022 wcop. Time and time again I learn that the balance between fun and tryhard is the key to succeeding at this game and time and time again I cant find it

All in all i pulled my weight though and i should just try to take the positives away from this tour, i got to team w some good friends and got to play some ok pokemon on the way

For a change though I won't be just dissapearing after a teamtour like i have been doing for the last 5 6 years

Good run Rays, I'll privately dm every person my thoughts instead of public shout-outs. However, just wanted to say that I'm proud of everyone for trying in every gen, we've had fun and I saw how every single one of you wanted to win and get better, unfortunate circumstances in playoffs happened but it's fine it wasn't meant to be.

Personally I had fun during PL team environment wise and I had the most fun building bw ever, i think it might be the best gen currently when everything is lowkey either bland or unbalanced. I was definitely a bit too ambitious in SV, I thought I could support a lot there but yea I couldn't which is definitely my bad and an error from my part. We really lagged behind in CG during the closing stages and that was definitely a big contributor to us losing. In hindsight, we needed an sv tryhard for sure.

Big thank you and s/o to every single ray member for this tournament, and specifically to my old friends neomon, pale, ic, frosty (0 lines breh) and dez. Till we meet again everyone!

There is probably more but I did not do a good job of chronicling everything. I laughed a lot this tour.

Shoutouts:
Nuxl Yeah you got pretty bummed out about the cracks of inexperience starting to show in your games but besides being the only person I was willing to get out of my shell for, you were a seriously great co-manager. In many respects, you fulfilled the positive and forceful role of a team leader in a way that I'm just not equipped to do as well. Your sv record was pretty respectable, especially considering you picked up the tier for this tour. I never could have imagined back in feb that I would manage 1v1pl with the guy who dmed me not to beat myself up over winning at EiMM (lmao) and was yet to touch the tier. This was a pretty great run for an impulse signup tbh.

eblurb There is a base temptation here for me to copypaste crucifys cross-examination+hagiography of you from last year or to poke fun at some of the more neurotic dump 2 moments, and while they would make damn great cheap laughs its really not fair to you at all. Even ignoring the past few years, I've seen you grown so much in the past few months and its something that I honestly look up to. Hell, I literally had you blocked for multiple months this year!!!! I only have respect for someone who can be that open about trying to improve themselves and the people around them. Though even at your most grating, you were always one of the funniest people in this community, I've never met anyone (irl or online) who can be genuinely hilarious in such a dry way. Also you put up a great record in the most competitive slot and acted as a 3rd manager etc etc. HF returning to the william dynasty next year.

Aliss Loved having you on the team and you were the best buy of the tour even considering the semis tb game. Having an ss player I can pass whatever janky garbage I threw together in an hour and it gets 3-0d and still wins is literally the best thing I could ask for in these tours. You were also basically the beating heart of the teamchat (despite not building a single team LOLOL). Don't know what else to say but you were the best. I hope we stay in touch and sorry for ruining your ironwoman x

Fancy1 bruh you were actually insane this tour, like your overperfomance was one of the best things about our team. I never even really wrapped my head around it until now. Also thanks for being a good sport about being the butt of like 3 different in jokes LOL. Poor you.

rssp1 From the outside, it looks like the mafia to 1v1 pipeline thudded hard this time around but rssp1 was the GOAT. There was a point in the tour where this guy had the 3rd most lines in the server. Raspie you were an honestly integral part of our sv and a lot of you ideas were seriously inspired. Your record doesn't reflect your presence at all and I think you have a high ceiling if you decide to stick around.

Taka Thanks for holding down the fort, I think we both wish things could have gone a little better in this slot but having a self-sufficient bwer as a 1v1 manager is such a precious gift, one that I probably am taking for granted now. Wish you answered a single qotd tho >:^(

Rellia Not much to say, love u as always gabby. You were also 3-1 at one point!!! Unfortunate how the calender lined up this tour but thats life.

Inkreativ Thanks for getting some good wins in oras and for putting up with me being unaware of your midseason vacation lmao. We didn't talk a ton this tour but I've always thought you were really cool. We need to talk abt literature once I become better read :x

NTG Cuz IDK I think you were disappointed in your performance this tour but I was literally so glad to have you on the roster. I've joked about being willing to pay 15k for you but you're such a positive, funny and helpful presence that I wouldn't want to be in a 1v1 teamcord without you. Wishing you the best on your entrance exams.

sasha Truthfully all I wanted was someone who would always be online and had enough base mons knowledge to be able to possibly mickey a win in an emergency sub situation (NTG has a forward timezone and someone like rssp1 out of sv is a bridge I did not want to think about crossing) so thanks for doing the bare minimum babe! Jokes aside, you're one my closer friends on the site despite us only knowing eachother for a few months (and you being a gacha gremlin). I'm glad to have met you and we neeeed to bring back rabbit and steel vcs :biheart:

deddd 187 Fan Thanks for passing teams that got loaded during the tour, especially deddd you were legit so helpful. I would have loved to draft you both if you signed up :>
Satanic Beast <33 Bopher gum LRXC Squirtell 1v1 Frito D2TheW Thanks for hanging around the cord since day 1, all of yall are lovely friends.
Spenceair Sorry again for the snafu. It was my fault it happened and while there was no ideal outcome for everyone involved, I truthfully regret how I handled it and would've felt worse if we happened to win, so maybe this was the best outcome for the tour lmao. I hope you continue to enjoy your time in the tier.
zo Kaif LittEleven Vertigo Opchurtle100 bo_bobson27 delemon Thanks for chilling during playoffs chums.
Lastly, thanks crucify for drafting me 3 years ago and teaching me everything I know about being a good manager.

As for myself:
SV: 35 teams
SS: 89 teams
SM: 27 teams
ORAS: 6 teams
BW: 9 teams
This is the first PL where I can say that I'm wholly proud of how I played and contributed to the team. Yeah ok "going positive in 3 gens" when im 4-3 ss 1-0 bw 1-0 insignificant game sm is a bit of a LeBron stat but I've never had to push myself in multiple different tiers like I have during this tour. I think my ideas generally hit more than they miss and the only thing I lacked was time. Just because you have the knowledge to support multiple slots doesn't mean you actually can.

I think by the end of the tour, our sv infrastructure basically collapsed and loading program in oras every week finally got punished. The luck was obviously not in our favor but you can't really blame that when we choked a won mu g5 and half-assed a slot. The last thing I'll note is that I should probably take some blame for letting Alice play at 4 am. Although in my defense, her sleep schedule didn't make it the worst proposition imaginable and the alternative was Blanched (an ss player I rate higher than Mishlef lol) coming in on a double sub. But yeah, don't do what I did as a manager and let someone play in tb that late.

I had a bunch of thoughts on the community I wanted to share but I couldn't figure out a way to articulate them without being simultaneously way too sappy and bitter. I will say that even after the big news, I'm a lot hungrier for 1v1 than I thought I'd be post-PL but I also really just want to focus on other stuff right now. Aside from all the hobbies I push to aside for mons, managing is just not good for my waistline man.

Leaning towards no for wc, sm only if I play ogpl, manage again next pl atm. Until next time <3
