Here is the third week for the fourth 1v1 Premier League tournament! Replays are required, don't just say "replays under ___ account." Using a proxy while playing is not allowed. If you have a problem with this, talk to me, we can figure something out. As always, try to keep this thread on-topic. No unnecessary or over the top shitposting or trash talking. The deadline to play all games will be one week, or until Sunday, March 8th at 11:59 pm EST. Extensions will not be given, teams must instead substitute out players should they and their opponent not be able to find suitable times to play. Activity wins and losses will be given based on host discretion and with TL decisions. Some words about substitutions: At any point in time during the week, a team may make a substitution for an inactive player. In order to do this, a manager must post in the thread, tagging the hosts, the opposing managers and the opposing player stating which player is substituting out, and which player is substituting in. A player that has substituted out for a week cannot be substituted back in. In addition, in order to catch any attempts at garnering favorable matchups (where the lineup you choose affects pairings), all substitutions are subject to veto by the hosts if the substitution is suspected to be attempting to “game” the system.

Some reminders while playing:

• Playing while using a proxy is not allowed. Please talk to me if this is an issue.
• The play timer needs to be on while playing. This is unless both players agree to not have the timer on beforehand.
• We heavily encourage playing on Smogtours while playing. There is an automatic timer and modchat in order to keep the integrity of the match in mind.

Also as a separate note, monopoke doesn't count towards tournament standings. It is by itself and will count towards something else. For this week, the monopoke mons are in this order: Bronzong, Charmander, Malamar, Pangoro, Pumpkaboo

This means that in a Bo5 series you bring the mons in the given order.

SwSh Bo5: TheShadowClaw vs. DenisTheMenace - easy HL
SM Bo5: Scraftionite vs. Elo Bandit - I said it last week and I’ll say it again now, Elo gets tripped up by his tendency to use unreliable teams. Hopefully he wont do that again two weeks in a row.
SM Bo5: Blazikin vs. Squirtell 1v1 - another easy hl, cant wait to watch
ORAS: ryyjyywyy vs. Notater - would love to see notater’s first team tour appearance be a great one, but I’ve never seen him play ORAS. ryy probably can’t lose this.
BW: ggopw vs. Poison Adhesive - i still dont know why ggopw is in BW. Could really go either way, PA is a solid builder.
DPP: 187 Fan vs. Simbo - I don’t like Rosa’s choice to pull simbo from bw. Fan is a good all around player and should pull this out.

SwSh Bo5: Quaritchz vs. Rosa - Rosa lost last week but I think that the removal of Necrozma will allow her creativity to shine, exploiting new techs with Pokemon to take a W. 40-60
SwSh Bo5: TheShadowClaw vs. DenisTheMenace - Denis defied expectation last time, and while TSC is a goat, I'm getting the sense that he would be more valued in an USUM slot than an SS slot. 40-60
SM Bo5: Scraftionite vs. Elo Bandit - Scraftionite will take a W. 65-35
SM Bo5: Blazikin vs. Squirtell 1v1 - Squirtell proved their consistency last week; I'm guessing Week 1 scared them into action. 35-65
ORAS: ryyjyywyy vs. Notater - Srry fellow Trivia Staff member but you will need to devote your entire week to learn how to play ORAS at the level of ryy. 70-30
BW: ggopw vs. Poison Adhesive - I was skeptical Week 1, if putting ggopw in BW was the wisest move, but he proved himself with Solar, he'll probably be fine against PA. 65-35
DPP: 187 Fan vs. Simbo Two all-around experts in Old Gens, I suspect the dom teams Simbo uses won't be that helpful, but Simbo can certainly build or get passed team. 45-55

This pairing will come down to team support once again. I don't think the SS core of LuckyPiper/Quaritchz/TSC is going to be as strong as Potato/Rosa/Denis, especially with the metagame mix-up that we've just experienced. With Old Gens, that is where Dragapults are strongest, but the Teatimes have specialists in specific slots, as well.

SwSh Bo7: XSTATIC COLD vs. Iron Crusher - Iron Crusher's best tier is SM, and in that tier its barely above 50% win rate. Unless IC's been training super hard in the background, he will have poor odds against a top 5 player. 70-30
SwSh Bo5: Waylaid vs. Felucia - Waylaid is surprising me in SS, and while Felucia certainly is exceeding expectations for Gen 8, I don't think she will be able to stand up to the teambuilding available on this squad, unless she outplays him hard. 58-42
SwSh Bo5: crucify vs. 7shoes - Keep forgetting that 7Shoes = Winkata xd Winkata should be fine. 40-60
SM Bo5: sagar0027 vs. Downcoming3 - DC3 is a bit rusty but if she's getting gooder again, she will barely be able to clutch. 45-55
SM Bo5: LaBalladeDesCieux vs. Tom842 - LBDC has been doing really well this PL, I would say the momentum will be able to carry over, althought Tom will be relatively not a pushover. 55-45
ORAS: Lancer Fr vs. Andy Snype - rofl. 80-20
BW: Wanony vs. Kaif - Kaif is already a luck god, alongside being good with BW. Wanony losing to Joker isn't shameful (Joker won Classic 1 and BW Cup 1), but this continues his losing streak, and Kaif is determined to go undefeated, so he'll be tryharding. 45-55
DPP: Synonimous vs. xJoelituh - As above, xJ losing to Breloominati is nothing shameful, but Synon leads DPP. He was shaky Week 1, but most people only start tryharding in later weeks. 60-40

BBB's entire team is a step above the Gogoats - I would be more confident in giving this an overall even MU if the performance of the Gogoats matches the BBB's for W1 and W2, but they do not. Only tying with the Dustox is embarrassing

SwSh Bo7: neomon vs. Nalei - neomon has been surprisingly proving themselves during this entire tournament, with exceptional wins against TSC and Maki's Fox. Perhaps its foolish of me not to say Nalei will break their losing streak, but neomon seems to be proving themselves. 55-45
SwSh Bo5: SolarflareRo vs. pqs - Weird seing Solarflare not in BW, even with an L last week, it was against ggopw, not like a rando. And the Dustox's strongest tier is BW, sooo idk. But, in any case, solarflare's performance is outclassing pqs', and I'm pretty sure he will be able to keep his skill in a meta like Gen 8, which is very similar to BW in many respects. 60-40
SwSh Bo5: SUSTENANCE_1 vs. Eriey - Both of these players would need team support, and Megarays is literally 18 players of pure support. With the proper resources, Sust can come out on top, whereas Eriey will have to build his own squads. 55-45
SM Bo5: Close vs. Lkjc - Both of these SM slots seem a bit odd, lkjc should be playing in SWSH, he lost to XSC, so what? its XSC, and lkjc beat Winkata last week, so its not like he can't play SS. Unlike with Solar, I think Close should take this W, as he's more of an USUM player, depite his record from W1 and W2. 55-45
SM Bo5: akaFila vs. trace - Trace, newest member of Dustox alongside Tol, is good at SM, and could surprise people; however, I still think it is a bit close to say 100% that he will win. 45-55
ORAS: Gareth Adamson vs. Yami - Yami's place is DPP. If they can break their losing streak with a tier they don't main, color me surprised, but idt this will happen. 65-35
BW: ayedan vs. Joker 1v1
DPP: Inkreativ vs. AllFourtyOne - AllFourtyOne DPP? What are you doing? He won last week - lol ok 65-35

Okay, so I think this game plan on the Dustox's part looks like a hail-mary play: the current lineup they used for W1 and W2 isn't working, and with the big L they took last week, they think that switching things up is the best chance they have - but its not going to work. What could have been the best last chance the Dustox's had at taking a W before playoffs came, has now been kind of squandered. They will need to truly move beyond expectations in order to take a W this week, against like the tied-for-5th best team in this PL. However, this may happen if the Mega Rays take this W for granted. We'll see.
