city don't need thiago silva, they have a really good centre back pairing and savic will hopefully get better with time.

chelsea should buy lewandowski and i genuinely would not complain about heskey to brighton

i do believe there's another team you have to overtake before you start gunning for Spurs

lol Lee <3

so to transfer gossip! .there's no way barca can afford bale. barca haven't even got that much money and saying levy is going to get nothing but top dollar for him is basically tautological. I think Modric might possibly go, but only because they'll get a fucktonne of money for him. I read an interesting theory earlier about how Spurs' January nightmare transfer deals were a direct result of Levy not being able to back a manager who's potentially going to prison.. possible I thought.

Also HBK I'll point out you actually ended up a league place lower than you did under AVB and I believe his win/points percentage was similarly poor? Chelsea are gonna send Di Matteo on his way, he has no actual authority and he fluked a CL win, there's no reason for him to stay. He didn't win that CL.

very interesting article about montpellier, a club whos biggest transfer ever has been 1.7m for Giroud, who is the clubs top earner with 15k a week.

pretty much the opposite of man city. its refreshing to see a team win trophies with hard work and youth development rather than splashing cash. Dortmund and Montpellier are teams to admire really.

AVB oversaw more league games Akuchi and his record was the worst among all managers that have ever taken charge of Chelsea. What Di matteo did was almost impossible but it wasn't a fluke. He scrapped the 'change in style',went back to basics and used the players AVB had rejected. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the fact that he won it with a squad so much worse than most of the earlier managers is a testimony to how much he has improved since he got sacked by West brom.He turned water to wine by winning the CL but it was no fluke. The fact that we won most of our games by such narrow margins only confirms that. The squad isn't good enough and yet he squeezed victories out of it.Hopefully the summer clear out will improve the squad so we can challenge for a top 3 finish.

a team winning a trophy through hard work and youth development? 1999 united treble, and the class of 92 :D

but it is nice to see a club like that winning trophies.

They will be allowed to leave/retire when they think they are ready for a new challenge or when they feel like hanging they're boots up.Drogba already left and Bosingwa is set to be released.Essien will probably stay for now and continue his recovery and I really hope Malouda leaves later on before next season.Terry and Lampard are gonna see out the rest of their career at Chelsea so no problem there. We really need to get those big names we're chasing this season so that we can ensure that we have a chance to finish in the top 3 next season.

err, how you think winning most of your games by a narrow margin supports the theory it was hard work rather than luck i'm not sure, but lol go ahead

Any other manager couldn't have won it with this squad but Di Matteo has managed to get the best out of it.The narrow marginal victories shows how he squeezed victories out of an old squad with little creativity.Mata can't do everything alone and that is why we need Hazard.

..or that he got lucky? you get lucky by one goal and your opponents failing to finish, you dont get lucky by a few goal margin.. and your argument is pure fallacy. 'any other manager couldntve'.. err okay. yeah. di matteo is jesus!

One team beats another by outclassing it;we were better at finishing than all the teams we faced and thats why we won.We also defended better. But by your definition soccer is based on luck.......

EDIT:Hazard has said he'll make his decision based on playing time. The odds seem to be in our favour now.

We can offer higher pay along with a lot of playtime. He wants 200 K a week if I recall. This definitely rules City out as Toure,Aguero and Silva are the only regulars that don't play in defence. And doesn't Aguero play in his favorite position? I remember him saying that hew wants to play in his preferred position at his new club.

he really expects 200k/week in wages as a 20 year old (21?), he's nuts. And he isn't worth it. Van Persie makes like half that, and even if arsenal has a much different financial structure it's still ludicrous. Chelsea could pay the wages of a decent RB and a quality central midfielder for 200k/week.

There's nothing like that new England manager feeling. New dawn for England, start of a new era, football's coming home, world cup glory beckons! C'mon Andy Carroll, be the big English lump up front you were always born to be!
