It's probably true that the authorities secretly want Barca to win - because of factors like their style of play (very easy on the eye), but to be honest I don't see that there's any active intentional favouring going on. Admittedly, the referee was a bit card-happy during their match against Milan, but I think that both penalty decisions were fair, and also that Iniesta's deflection goal, had it not been deflected, Messi's original shot for the third goal might well have gone into the left-hand corner. But nonetheless, Milan actually played very well and fluently during the game, and if they had played like that in the first leg, we might have seen Barcelona go out in the quarter-finals.

Who do you guys think is gonna win the premier league? As a Liverpool supporter i want City to win :D

I honestly can't see it moving across Manchester this year. It pains me to say it, but, it's true. I think it was neatly summed up by the matches this weekend (Not that they sum up a season, but they were a good reflection I thought)
City - Sunderland. I know that City managed to get a draw from the game, but, with the calbre of their squad, they should not end up 3-1 down at home. I don't know who to blame, fans, players or the manager, but they just didn't seem that into it, which at such a crucial run in, is dissapointing. Fortunately, they were saved by a couple of moment of magic, but they shouldn't have to rely on this, to beat Sunderland (No disrespect to O'Neills work though)
United - Blackburn. Blackburn put up a great fight, they defended resolutely, and were organised, even threatening on the break, making sure to test deGea more than once in both halves. United were very pro about it though, not panicking and just breaking them down slowly, finding an opening for the goals to put Rovers to the sword.

I just think with them going into the run-in like that, United will maximise their points, while City may let heads drop, egos flare, and points slip.

Balotelli is always showing off in his car on Deansgate in Manchester.. Sometimes he just parks it up on the side of the road there for people to gorp at haha.

I'll be surprised if Manchester City manage to pull it back now, even if they beat Manchester United at the end of the month. Bookies are already paying out the winnings if you betted on United to win the league. So I think that says a lot, too..

It is probably gonna be united even though i want city to win. Also who do you think should be the new England Manager.

IMO they should just give Stuart Pearce a chance instead of bringing in Redknapp

City already lost the league, don't really see anything but a draw in the Manchester derby with the way the teams are playing.

Not really sure they had a better chance then this year either, only so many players you can buy and outside of the fullbacks there isn't many around that are available that are any better then they already have.

United will strengthen in the summer not sure who has been linked?, Javi Martinez keeps being mentioned but this doesn't make sense he is more a defensive midfielder/reserve defender, isn't it a Scholes replacement/creative midfielder they need.

City must come to understand, like we did, that there are some things money can't buy.

Even Arsenal is linked with Podolski, Vertonghen, M'Vila, Hazard, Gotze and Sessegnon; and Arsenal are never linked with higher profile players than Utd. What happened to Sneijder and Ozil? I thought they were always said to be unsettled and wanting a move to Utd or something.

edit:
I dont know how much truth is in it but rumours coming from villa park
Emile Heskey is making Carroll jokes

looooooooooooool

Surely the boat has sailed on the sneijder deal not sure they would want him after the poor season he has had either. Wonder how much Modric is gonna cost when Harry leaves.

o yes, united linked with sneijder still, and modric.

there are some things money cant buy, messi is one lol ronaldo will probably only leave for united.
united were also linked with pique

united might surprise me and sign Alan Pulido, like when they signed Chicharito out of no where. who knows.

I do think Barcelona get favoured more than any other side, but I also don't want to be the bitter Spanish team hater when it is quite clear they are better than everyone else. I just feel that sometimes when a team is very disciplined defensively and they don't get the break they need, rather than the frustration getting to the fans and players, they just manage to get a decision or two to go their way and turn the game on its head. I'm not denying that the two penalties in the AC Milan game weren't warranted, or that Milan deserved to win by any stretch. But the fact is for all Barcelona's possession and ability, they needed two penalties and a deflected pass to fall for them in order to break down Milan. Where as Milan were clinical on their break and scored a nice goal. If they would have done the same in the first leg, maybe they'd have knocked out Barca?

The Chelsea game of old was obviously ridiculous, I couldn't believe my eyes watching it. It was amazing to see how favoured one team can be away from home when they still only need a goal to go through, and they got it with their one shot on target.

You can probably make cases like this for every big team, but to me (and many others) it seems like the 'higher ups' involved in running these tournaments want to see Barcelona always win. Even if there is no 'favouring' going on, I still they're secretly supporting Barca because of how they play football. It is fair enough because they can put on the best show 9/10 times, but if there is any favouring of Barcelona or any other team going on, intentional or not, it really needs to stop.

Still fancying Madrid to win it, but maybe it's destined for Bayern to win it in Germany? Wouldn't even surprise me to see Bayern beat Chelsea in the final.

It's pretty funny that people only look at crucial decisions that go in Barcelona's Favor and not the ones that go against us.All the big teams including Barcelona ( I Can accept we get decisions in our favor time to time) But look at these crucial refereeing mistakes that had go against us

Milito offside goal in San Siro.
Alves denied penalty in same match.
Bojan disallowed goal (wrong) against Inter(Would take us through)

Messi wrongly disallowed goal v Arsenal last season at Emirates.
Abidal sent off wrongly at Stamford Bridge in 2009.
Henry clear penalty denied in first leg of that tie.
Denied 2 clear penalties at the San Siro last week

Those are just a few I can remember but people don't notice these because the media makes it look like Barcelona get everything in their favor. That being said I think Milan should have had a penalty at the Nou Camp. Not to mention in La Liga this season most referee's have something against Barcelona, we have hardly got any decisions which could have got use more points where as Real Madrid have been getting soft penalties, red cards etc in their favor and you never know, had decisions been correctly given to both teams we might not be 6 points behind.

Peace.

To be fair, I didn't even bring up any decisions that went Barcelona's way, I believe. I said the penalties against Milan were penalties, which they were. Other than the Chelsea game obviously, which I hope you can admit was just one massive tragedy for the entirety of the game lol.

All teams get these decisions over the course of seasons and years obviously so if you keep going back enough you can always find them. My main point is because Barcelona play 'football' and have 'can't do no wrong Messi' that it's incredibly more easy for officials and the media to favour them. And most of the time, it does come across that way.

Fair enough.
I agree Chelsea were pretty unlucky in 2009.
Hopefully the semi final this time against them is a good footballing spectacle and not filled with controversy.

don't forget the arsenal debacle last season.

30 minutes to go and Arsenal set to go through. Van Persie gets the most ridiculous red card I've ever seen and Barcelona go through against 10 man Arsenal.

gg UEFA

Don't forget the disallowed Away goal for Barcelona in that tie :naughty:

We weren't complaining about small incidents or stuff like that, and I think most people agreed that the two penalties against AC Milan were soft but correct. Barcelona sometimes gets small decisions for them, or against them just like any team and they generally even themselves out. I have nothing to complain there.

What we were discussing was the two hugely controversial incidents in recent years, the Chelsea match and the Arsenal match, where Barcelona got decisions that were beyond the realm of belief. We're talking about where Van Persie got a red card (not a yellow or a dodgey offside decision, but a freaking red card!) out of the blue and Chelsea had at the very least 2 100% claims for penalty where the referee was staring at the incident and 2 more where the referee was a bit further away. It's these moments that anybody would raise eyebrows at.

Referee decisions tend to favour the home team in big European games like these (besides that Chelsea game in 2009). I think it's just natural that the referee would rather get shouted at by 11 players of the away team than by 60,000+ fans of the home team.

Sczesny: If you miss it, I've won it

Wilshire: no you haven't won it's even

Sczesny: nah i've won it..it's my show ok shut up
