Makes sense. You'd rather United potentially face Spurs than us.Your fear is totally understandable considering the 'big teams' we beat this season while you got your ass handed to you in CL group stages and the Europa league.

good post /\

and yeah not gonna lie, chelsea did get p. lucky, but 'bus parking' is still a legit strategy, check out 2006 italy. and tbh chelsea's players are actually good, they did organize some really nice passes and goal chances when they were not defending.

I prefer Spurs in the CL too but it has nothing to do with being afraid of Chelsea, why can't fans ever look objectively at the situation for once? My reason for wanting Spurs in the CL is simply because it means that they can hold onto their stars like Bale, Modric, and VdV and build on their squad. Chelsea don't need CL to do that, they have the prestige and the reputation and they're going to rebuild in the summer anyway.

The game definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Although it got a bit boring with Chelsea parking the bus, the final half hour made up for it. As a neutral all I wanted to see was an exciting game of football and I certaintly got my wish. Chelsea got extremely lucky, it seemed as if they were destined to win. I'm happy for Chelsea though, they finally won the trophy they have been chasing for years.

I wouldn't blame any team for parking the bus when you're captain and midfield is suspended.. not to mention you're playing at their home turf. I wouldn't even say it was completely bus parking, I just think Bayern played so offensively and tight on them that it looked like Chelsea were parking the bus.

I will admit that I'm bias since I am a Chelsea fan and it feels like years of support have finally come through :D

Not a Chelsea fan but I couldn't resist the oppurtunity to take this photo:

Drogbaaaaaaaaaaaa

Chelsea totally deserved to win IMO. It's not really *luck* if top teams fail to deliver in terms of end-goal (pun intended), it's...top teams failing to deliver!

i would consider it...poor penalty taking?

this

anyway, who cares if chelsea parked the bus? they played to win and they used those tactics to their advantage. sure it wasn't the greatest advertisement for free flowing football, but if i was a chelsea fan i sure wouldn't want us throwing men forward and leaving ourselves open for a counter-attack. especially when you consider the team that would be counter-attacking would be barcelona and bayern, teams hardly lacking in the attacking department. if anything, chelsea showed real grit to get back into the game after conceding so late and bayern should really be looking at how they couldn't hold out for 7 minutes against a chelsea side that were 'parking the bus'

agreeing with shade but it's all sour grapes anyway - I found both the semi final and the final to be very entertaining, highly competitive games of football with plenty of twists and turns. and most people i've spoke to feel the same.

adapting a defensive, counterattacking approach is a perfectly valid strategy that has been around as long as football and time has proven it to be very successful indeed. to criticise it is like criticising a pokemon player for using stall because you find it boring or whatever. (yay pokemon reference). teams should play to win, whatever it takes. that's the appeal of any sport.

so what are the opinions on Di Matteo? Obviously he should get the job given his ridiculous over achievement, but its not a certanity according to the Chelsea camp. Dunno why, hed be pretty cheap and he gets the best out of his squad.

Conducted himself in such a dignified fashion as well, unanimously respected in the footballing world (according to me and my friends, who pretty much hate Chelsea).

also David Luiz for most badass penalty

i imagine he'll be kept on but sacked at some point over the next season when he fails to meet Abramovich's unrealistic standards, and then replaced by some big name foreign manager on an insane contract (Capello perhaps).

I found the game boring as hell just because Bayern Munich was playing in it. No offense to the Germans, but their style of play just makes me want to fall asleep.

EDIT: Except the Germany national team. For some reason their style of play is exciting.

also Juventus' first loss after like forever

edit: Montepellier are the French champions which is pretty cool, fuck you PSG

M'Vila interview scheduled to go today pushed back again.

Add to Hazard still not revealing anything and I can't wait until this is over. Almost as tiring as the Fabregas shit.
