2012/2013 Soccer/Football thread

gosh i hate barcelona. everything from the boring style of play to the pressuring of referees. teams finally find out how to play against them and they start whining at the referee instead of trying to improve their terrible displays

unfortunately, brendan is trying to form a shit version of them at liverpool (and i'm not really a fan of 'tiki taka')

Happy with another victory for us. That Yacob guy from WBA was pissing me off.

Also, if you have a twitter, I advise you to check out @LFC___Fan
(3 _'s like that) You might have a laugh.

Very annoyed that Sturridge got injured. That Suarez hat trick should have been Sturridge's!!! I hope he gets better soon, I'm too stubborn to get Suarez back...

Also: Massive game tomorrow! Usually the north london derby is the most entertaining game in our season (usually due to both teams throwing defence out the window) but ever since 2 seasons ago it has become probably the most important game in the season too cos of qualifying for CL.

As far as I'm concerned, if we win tomorrow I can be quietly optimistic of us qualifying in 4th cos Tottenham have a pretty tough schedule ahead. If we lose then I will be sad... :(
Chelsea have a nice schedule up ahead to really pull away from 4th :(

Might as well use this post to say again we need another feckin striker!!!

Apparently Arsenal have a potential takeover by some arabs.
Can't complain but the same Arsenal fans who hated Chelsea for getting Abramovich are the same ones who are excited about this.

Yeah most of my Arsenal supporting friends really want this to happen, which just baffles me to be honest. They have the best run club in the world (although Bayern are strong contenders). The Manchester City, Chelsea and PSG model will definitely bring success, but only in the short term. In the long term, Bayern, Arsenal and Barcelona are always going to be more successful.

You need a Suarez type player. Not because he's a world class striker but because he's a leader, a winner and most importantly a cunt. Every team needs players like these and you can never have too many of them (which is why I was pissed off that Bellammy left). Complement these type of players with a good squad and you will be successful (look at Utd, Rooney and Van Persie are their cunts). Arsenal have too many nice guys.

EDIT: V it was the ref's fault they have been shit recently *facepalm*

Most likely won't happen because of so many factors. Even if it somehow does happen then the only diffference it would make would be writing off the stadium debt, allowing Wenger to not have to make a profit every transfer window. I really hope FFP works and if it does then billionaire take-overs won't unbalance the club's stability and independence from outside money.

I don't have much of a problem with the club's current owners anyway. They're businessmen in it for the profit themselves so they'll never allow Arsenal to get into debt ridden practices. Kroenke is one of the richest men in the world, and he chose not to intervene with his own money. This is a good thing from my point of view and shows he's a clever businessman and not a billionaire with a toy. What's more important are the expertise and connections a potential owner brings.

This take-over is about 7 years too late. We've already paid off most of the stadium debt, the new sponsorship deals and TV money are about to come in, and Wenger has already changed his practices of paying every player equal salary. Wenger has substantial funds next season because of all these factors coming together at the same time - take-over bid or no bid. Plus FFP is just around the corner.

Tbf valdes did have somethung to gripe over, that sure as hell looked like a penalty in the 92nd (not that valdes would be able to see well enough lol)

A takeover wouldn't really change anything unless the Arabs plan to axe Wenger. It's not like Arsenal don't have a lot of money to spend, it's that Wenger does not want to spend.

if you think the Arsenal board aren't a lot to do with the situation then well.. have another think about it.

Arteta + Ramsey vs Parker + Dembele. Not liking the look of that. Time for Wenger's faith in lil Aaron Ramsey to pay off! At least we have Ox and Pod ready to come on if needed.

Liking the front 4 of Walcott, Wilshere, Cazorla and Giroud though. Giroud seriously needs a good game!

Lol going from keeping possession pretty much the entire 30 minutes to down 2-0 from two mistakes by Mertesacker and then Vermaelen. Unbelievable.

Good scoreline so far.

Already twitter and the like is flooding with the constant and exhausted phrases of "Wenger out" "shit defending" blah blah blah. Surprised people still put effort into saying this.

Arsene:

on conceding two goals in quick succession…
It happened to us many times this season and only in big games. It's difficult to say why, there's no common thing.

Oh.. I think we can figure out a common thing/theme.

Great decision by the referee. Rolling on the floor pretending to be injured isn't gonna make you any less guilty Nani you cunt

inb4 british media shitstorm

Idk if its because Nosferalto hates Man U but damn first time hes actually saying something smart. Its incredibly funny how biased these english commentators are calling the decision "absolutely awful" and even more funny how the Man U / EPL fans (from another forum i frequent at least) say it wasnt even a yellow because "HE WAS LOOKING AT THE BALL".

To me its a clear yellow but a red was a terrible call, and one that completely changed the game...

i thought it was pretty similar to Ibrahimovic's kung fu kick on the GK in ligue 1 and De Jong's kick on Alonso in the 2010 world cup final which both deserved red cards.
