2013 Music

I'm excited for Gary Numan's new album, which is supposed to come out this year. He might also be working with Trent Reznor of NIN. That's all I've really cared to do any investigating on.

Our Ceasing Voice - The Day Last November (post-rock/shoegaze/ambient)
Trapt - Reborn (post-grunge)
Old English - Prose & Kahns (indie rock)
Weird. - Desert Love For Lonely Graves (shoegaze)
Esben and the Witch - Wash The Sins Not Only The Face (ethereal wave/darkwave)
Eels - Wonderful, Glorious (indie pop/singer-songwriter)
Local Natives - Hummingbird (indie rock/indie folk)
Ulrich Schnauss - A Long Way to Fall (downtempo)

Speaking of Sevenfold, to the dude who mentioned a possible new album from them...did you find that out somewhere or is it just wishful thinking? I don't think A7X have been that good since Waking the Fallen, which is one of my favorite albums of all time. The most recent song they did (it was a single iirc), Carry On, was absolutely horrendous...it was incredibly cheesy and not that interesting. Who knows though, if they do release a new album maybe they'll surprise! Shadows' singing voice is great, but I'd really like to hear him go more extreme like he did on the first two albums; specifically I'd like to hear him experiment with growling which was very rare for the earlier A7X and non-existent with their modern sound.
Yeah here's the link. They've been working on it since the release of Carry On(which I liked, but to each their own) and planned on entering the studio this month. I agree that their self-titled album was meh and even though Nightmare was decent, their best by far is Waking the Fallen, imo.

Very excited for the forthcoming Children of Bodom album! Relentless Reckless Forever was a decent step up from the disappointment that wasBlooddrunk and I hope they'll keep going in that direction. Would it be too much to hope for something Follow the Reaper-esque?
For the record, I think Hatebreeder & Something Wild are better, but I sincerely doubt they'll ever return to that style. That's a good thing though, they'd probably butcher it if they tried it nowadays...I wouldn't mind being proven wrong at all though!

As for Carry On, its main flaw is the absolutely horrible chorus. If the chorus was better (or just wasn't there at all...choruses have never been A7X's strong point) it'd be alright, even if it isn't really anything new. It does have a few cool moments, but they are unfortunately overshadowed by how awful the chorus is.

I thought this article was hilarious, btw.

I personally didn't care for RRR from Children of Bodom. My favorite albums from them are Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper (although "Hellhounds On My Trail" is one tight fucking song). Of course, a bad album from them is usually better than half the other drab that's out there. Here's to a new COB album!

I don't have a problem with the chorus, though I do think it's the weakest part of the song. I also like it for the drum solo, but I'm partial to drums so yeah.

I'm not sure that I find it funny because of them making such a big deal out of it or that it's a really good example of the elitist attitude that a lot of metal fans have.
Paramore released their first single off of their upcoming, self-titled, album Tuesday. It's called Now. Album is due April 9.

Uh it's different..... tbh it's sort of boring, I'll give it a few more listens to see if it grows on me.

Also, I'm very sad to say that one of my favorite bands, Underoath, have disbanded. They one of the first metalcore bands I ever listen to and they were my bridge to a lot of other bands, so I owe a lot of my musical taste to them. This is one of my favorite song by them, great times:

Yah haha. It really is a step down from Misery Business, Crushcrushcrush, Ignorance, Careful, and Brick By Boring Brick. It's also slightly worse than The Only Exception. The song is still pretty good, but I am optimistic that the rest of their new album will be a lot better.

My friend is a huge fan of them and is going to see their last show in St. Petersburg this saturday. He's been getting hyped for this since they announced their tour. Not quite as big of a fan of them as others, but it is rather somber to see them go.

Oooo, Ra ra Riot also released their new album this week. It's so good.

It's much different than their previous work, as they lost their cellist. However, their new sound is still pretty amazing, and I can see it bringing them a lot more new fans. People tend to love the "electronic" sound, which they do extraordinarily well. However, this album could easily be considered a step-down from their previous album, The Orchard.

this isn't 2013 music in the slightest but I can't think of a better place to put it, so sue me.

This is an enormous 3 cassette compilation of Australian underground music from 1981, mostly with some kind of experimental bent. The quality is obviously all over the place, but I'm having a lot of fun digging through this, and thought maybe some of the other music nerds who frequent this thread might as well.

its 4 am here in Germany, but I just have to finish listening to it

it's like Loveless, just adjusted to 2012/13
