lmao Argentina defense is trash, that's what they get for not playing Fazio.

Don't mind me I'm just a Roma fan.

Believe me, there are many more problems than just not picking Fazio (which is already nonsensical as him and Otamendi are the only natural centre-backs in the team).

me as a Benfica fan watching Salvio play as a RB...wut.

It's that we don't understand Sampaoli's sufficiently advanced way of thinking, to only bring an injured Mercado as a right-back, then use a winger as a right-back (well, to be fair, Pavón could have worked, he's surprisingly good at defending, but not Salvio). Also applies to only bringing two natural centre-backs and using only one of them (and choosing Rojo as the other one, whose only good position is as a benchwarmer).

If I am being honest, Messi might be holding them back. Yes, they couldn't qualify without him but that's because the whole system of playing is such that if he has a bad game, everyone in the team struggles.

Not 'might'. He is. Ever since Riquelme retired from international football the tactic has been "give him the ball", and this is not helped by the fact it's very strongly implied that he's been demanding that certain players have to be called up despite their... less than impressive performances - the likes of Di María, Agüero, Higuaín...

I think Argentina should play Otamendi + Mascherano as CBs in a 4-3-3 with Enzo Pérez as the #6 (I remember his days in Benfica and he was really good on the defensive side, I.e. Benfica vs Juventus in Euro League where he neutralized Pirlo the entire match), the other 2 midfielders could be like Banega on the right and Di Maria on the left (tho he's been playing on the right side for PSG and that's probably why he was awful on the left today).
Then Dybala + Messi + Aguero on the front idk how a team can't win with those 3, does Sampaoli not like Dybala or something? Tagliafico was decent as the LB, could try Acuna or Ansaldi but sticking with Taglia is also viable, RB is just unfixable unless Mercado is good to play.

Starting Friday evening I've had a terrible run on my predictions.

Morocco-Iran: I predicted a 0-0, the game should have ended 0-0, then 90+4 happened.

Argentina-Iceland: Predicted Argentina to win, Messi misses a penalty kick (game ends 1-1)

Peru-Denmark: Predicted Peru to win 1-0, Peru doesn't start Guerrero AND misses a penalty kick (game ends 0-1).

At least France won (though not as clearly as I predicted) and Croatia still knows how to 2-0 (which was my exact prediction).

If Mexico had been more clinical with their counters, this game would have retired the 7-1 meme and been the new meme score.
Well, at least it will be a quiet night here in Germany.

This team needs a Schweinsteiger asap.

The team needs a right wingback, not two right wing strikers. I don't think I've seen Kimmich in germany's half during the first 45 minutes at all.

And yeah, Schweinsteiger instead of Khedira would've been good as well.

Oh well Egypt are out...
Well played for them to qualify after 28 years
Hoping Mohammed Salah to come back with a stronger Egypt when he's 30

Still up for the last game against Saudi Arabia hoping for great goals!

Rip Wilshere.

Idk how I feel man.. so weird not seeing him at Arsenal anymore and now being fully committed to another club.

Always tough when new rotation of players come in, and the crew you “grew with” leave or forced out.

Curious to see what this Arsenal turns into. What the identity will be. I’m not being dramatic, I know him and others have been the ‘dead weight’ and shit that made Arsenal look mediocre at times..just talking in general now.
