"Hi Jack! decides to conserve energy-and he Tackles Stortamus!"

.....

"However, it hardly does enough to even dent the heavily fatigued Hippopotas (and trust me, I've done the calcs)-who impishly rolls to the ride to reduce the damage even beyond that of his species' powers.

Stortamus responds by finally getting a satisfying Earthquake off against Hi Jack!.

The results should be obvious. As the dust settles, Hi Jack! is knocked over the rocks by the sudden seismic shifts to Deck Knight's feet. He's clearly fainted."

Deck Knight will have to send out his next Pokemon. After that, Its_A_Random can call orders, then Deck will call his orders.

Additionally, despite feeling overwhelmingly proud against Monohm, Stortamus is getting highly fatigued. If he doesn't chill off soon, he'll faint from exhaustion, no matter how good his physical health is. (then again, he has 5 HP left, so yeah...)

Ehh...Let's just accept our fate Stortamus, Chill, the Earthquake twice if you survive the first attack. At least you got the KO Counter.

Summary of Actions:
Chill > Earthquake > Earthquake

Let's pave up before Capers comes onto the battlefield. He'll clean up.

Alight Tepig, our opponent has given us an opponent, so I want you to use Solarbeam. I'm not sure how it will interact with this weather, so this should be a suitable test. That should finish the job, but if not, Nitro Charge for victory. That should do it, but if not, Flamethrower.

Solarbeam ~ Nitro Charge ~ Flamethrower.

Although the sands weaken the beam's strength and chafe at Ifrit's skin, the ray of light overwhelms the fatigued Stortamus, who faints shortly thereafter."

Since Its_A_Random only brought two Pokemon to the battle, in the name of speed I will send in Capers the Gligar early. Tepig gleefully awaits the orders of his trainer-he is brave in spite of the stark type disadvantage. Deck Knight, you order next!

Alright Tepig this is going to be difficult to pull off, but I think you can do it. Our main strategy from here on out is to avoid the obvious attempts to Earthquake. What I want you to do is stake out on one of the ridges of the trench.

Yawn ~ Odor Sleuth ~ Flamethrower (direct attack)

If Gligar issues an Earthquake, jump of the ridge and propel yourself upward with a Flamethrower aimed at the ground. Once in the air, sniff it out with Odor Sleuth so we can find out its location and be better prepared. Always try to land on top of it. With the sun out and your fire type, your Fire moves should be very difficult to block or stop. Use that to your advantage.

Sub attacks: If Gligar issues an Earthquake
Flamethrower (skyward propulsion) > Odor Sleuth

(Summons Capers)

Hmmm...Okay Capers, since we can't avoid Yawn, let's begin by making ourselves stronger with Swords Dance, then pummel the Tepig with Rock Slide, hopefully aiming for a weak spot. Finish off with a blast from the past: Sand Attack the Flamethrower. After that, Ifrit should be Glassed, & be vulnerable to future attacks.

Summary of Actions:
Swords Dance > Rock Slide > Sand Attack @ Flamethrower

Close battle, but I should not lose.

"Capers comes back to the battlefield-and he soon starts to scuffle in the sands, spinning as the grinding sands sharpen his claws in a Swords Dance! Unimpressed, Ifrit Yawns bluntly at him as he moves towards a ridge-he can take this on.

Capers smiles impishly-Ifrit's trainer might have steeled Tepig against earthquakes, but rock slides weren't even accounted for! Capers sends a massive barrage of stones from beneath the raging sands at Ifrit. The brave Tepig reduces to budge, despite how effective the stones are at quenching his flames. Rather, Ifrit begins to sleuth out Capers with its sensitive piggy nose-and notices the odors of drowsiness wafting from the Gligar.

Spinning, Capers launches another devious burst of blinding sands at Ifrit. Ifrit, although he realizes that the heat could melt the sands into chafing glass, nevertheless fires off a mighty Flamethrower at Capers. The powerful fire stream does indeed melt the sands, causing Tepig's eyes to cast a small bit of water on this parched land-but it pays, as the slow attack is uninterfered with by the sand, and it strikes the increasingly drowsy Gligar true.

Ifrit, although irritated by the glass now cooling onto its body, bravely continues. Capers is almost asleep, but he vigilantly awaits Its_A_Random's commands. Speaking of which, he orders next!"

...

Alright, Capers, lets begin by launching a quickfire Earthquake, before Ifrit gets the chance to Flamethrower down the ridge. Then go to sleep while Ifrit does something to you, probably Odour Sleuth or something but you won't notice unless it hits you. If you wake up turn three, then use Swords Dance, & use it offensively charging towards Ifrit in an attempt to hit the pig with razor sharp swirling swords.

Summary of Actions:
Earthquake > Snooze > Offensive Swords Dance (If Capers wakes up)

EDIT: Oh, yeah, forgot about the ability...Okay, Sand Veil.

What is Gligar's Ability anyway? Doesn't matter really unless DW is released when the match started (unlikely) but hey.

Alright Ifrit, while Gligar is getting ready to go to sleep, give it some more status fun by hitting it with a cloud of Smog. Makr sure it gets surrounded, so it snoozes in the vapors and gets intoxicated.

Then I want you to create some distance, because next you're going to ignite that Smog cloud with a Flamethrower! It should produce some explosive results!

I'm sure Gligar won't appreciate that, and if the toxic smoke doesn't wake him up I'd wager the explosion will. Let him pass overhead with his silly Swords Dance, then shoot another Flamethrower straight out from under him, matching his rotation.

Smog ~ Flamethrower (make some distance and ignite the Smog) ~ Flamethrower

"We're back again-and this time, Capers starts the match with a mighty Earthquake! The ground shakes, disrupting Ifrit's internal flame source to deal some rather hefty damage to the fire pig. Unable to focus any longer, however, Capers begins to nod off into a medium sleep.

Although literally shaken by the assault, Ifrit responds by releasing a huge cloud of Smog at Gligar. As he snoozes, the poisonous air seeps into his lung equivalents, poisoning him from the inside-out. Having accomplished his goal, Tepig steps back from his toxic work and launches a Flamethrower at the smog-alas, it's smog, which doesn't contain many flammable chemicals . Nevertheless, the burning stream...batshit hax, Capers is just racking up status this round! That flamethrower left a few puddles of burning oil on his skin!"

Awoken by the sensation of hot oil on his skin, Capers starts to spin at Ifrit widly in a manner that also polishes his claws, easily making up for the bad power loss he'd just suffered while cutting directly into the Tepig. Ifrit responds with another Flamethrower, although it strangely tires him more than usual.

Both trainers continue to fight! Will Capers be able to overcome his burn and claim victory? Or will Deck Knight's strangely well-timed status hax beat our non-Immunity Gligar? Incidentally, is starting to lose Gligar's scent, as it's slowly being replaced by the smells of smog, burning, and a Jirachi flashing a v-sign at Deck Knight from overhead. He still awaits Deck Knight's commands, however! Deck knight goes next!

Excellent work Ifrit. (Protip: Gligar would have Immunity if DW were unlocked, not Poison Heal anyway...)

Gligar will assuredly want revenge, and he's the faster of the two of you. While you still have his scent, track him down and strike him with Ember. Try to fry some of the sand around him so that it will shine off of him.

We'll still be in peril because of Gligar's type advantage, so we'll need a strong finishing move. Gligar is most like to get you below 33% of your HP, so put everything you've got into an Ember + Flamethrower finishing combination. Use Flamethrower to focus the Embers into one powerful, swift column of overwhelming flame. No defense Gligar puts up is like to protect him from your superior *fire*-power, heh.

Ember ~ Ember + Flamethrower

"Hax, hax, hax. Burn is old, Poison is old, yeah. Capers, that Burn is going to hurt us greatly but there's nothing we can do about it since that supposed river has dried up. If it still had water, we could use it to get rid of the burn, but I guess that is irrelevant now."

"Alright Capers, I'm afraid we're going to have to go for a combo here, combining Night Slash & Sand Attack. By combining the two moves, we'll make the Night Slash a Ground-Type move with an increased Critical hit ratio & maybe an accuracy drop as well, which will be incredibly nice. It is a shame that it will take up 2 actions, which will probably leave us open, so I want you to try & knock that Tepig down the ridge. Finally, round out the round with an Earthquake, nice & simple. Sand Veil hax can take over from here."

Summary of actions:
Night Slash+Sand Attack combo, hopefully knocking Tepig down the ridge > Earthquake

"Endgame time, time to prepare ourselves for the final blow."

Hey, I've participated in longer. Granted only a few days longer, but still...

Either way, let's finally get this match overwith. I appreciate the fact long battles can eat time and battle slots-to be honest my first action would be to propose a 4 battle cap instead of a 3 battle cap.

Note that due to the old calculator not working anymore, I'm calculating Gligar's damage as coming from a third-degree burn to try and make up for the old burn mechanics.

"And now the second-longest match in all ASB shall finish!

Ifrit starts out by launching embers from his snout at Capers-and they roast. Capers surprisingly hasn't attacked yet-but why?

The answer comes swiftly-Capers is attempting a COMBO! Finally figuring out how to reconcile Night Slash and Sand-Attack, Gligar scoops up some sand in its claw, before racing at Tepig and sharply cutting him! The strong attack knocks Tepig backwards, the sands getting in its face and choking him up for massive damage. No crit, though. (8 base damage, 33% accuracy loss chance, Ground. Far less efficient than Earthquake, which would have 2HKO'd Tepig anyway.)

However, it appears that we haven't seen the last of Ifrit! As he gets up, clinging to consciousness, a huge, blazing aura of flame coats the fire pig Pokemon, melting away the glass and sand-and Ifrit channels all that into a single, gigantic, mighty combo of his own. Ifrit launches a gigantic stream of fire from his mouth-embers propelled by a blazing flamethrower!

...

...

Alas; Ifrit misses. While Ifrit managed to remove all the sands and glass from himself, he lost Capers' scent, letting his Sand Veil befuddle the Tepig's vision and allow him to just barely outrun the firestorm.
Jirachi is fickle. VERY fickle.
In response, Capers unleashes an Earthquake at Ifrit, taking him out the same way Stortamus took out Hi Jack!-and nabbing a surprise victory for the FlyScorpion and his trainer, Its_A_Random!"

Sand and Sun are somehow coexisting. The effects of both will be counted this match.

Alright...

-Both trainers get 2 TC
-All Pokemon get the pre-may-1 standard 1 EC/1 MC/1 DC
-Capers, Stortamus, and Ifrit additionally get 1 KO counter.

-I get 2 RC and the ability to claim participating in the two longest matches of ASB.

As for the night slash+sand attack combo actually working...keep in mind ref determination. (Not only that, but I wanted this overwith too.) I would very much like feedback (besides the obvious "update more") about reffing in this match.

gg Deck, close battle all the way, was an honour to fight against you, etc.

Perhaps my biggest complaint for this match was the obvious "Update more", that's self-explanatory. Other than that, thank you for reffing Tortferngatr, it was of a good quality.

Either way, this was a quality match with a quality opponent, unpredictable all the way & honestly, could've gone either way, but I suppose type advantage eventually prevailed, I guess.

In the end, gg. Thank you for the battle, time to cash in now...

GG Its_A_Random. Sand Veil strikes again! :(

You did a good job tort, don't worry about it.

TBH, way back when I was doubtful Tepig would perform well, but it almost managed to swipe 2 KO Counters through a type disadvantage. The old Sun/Burn mechanics didn't hurt either.
