Pokemon has always divided moves into types. Many Pokemon rely on STAB moves, and the appropriate coverage moves to beat Pokemon that resist those moves. Other moves are used for their passive effects, and often do not share a type with the user. In this tournament, Pokemon are only allowed to use moves that share the same type as them, including support moves.

- Smogon's standard OU banlist is in effect.
- Pokemon may only know moves that they share a type with, including support moves. For example, Thundurus may not know Taunt or Substitute because neither of these moves is Electric or Flying-type, but Thunder Wave may be used because it is an Electric-type move.
- Moves that can change type in battle are considered to be that type. For example, Thundurus may use Hidden Power Flying or Electric (not that you would use HP Electric but you get the idea), but cannot use Hidden Power Ice. This applies for Nature Gift.
- The move Natural Power counts as a Normal-type move even though it becomes Earthquake in battle.
- Weather Ball counts as a Normal-type move regardless of weahter.
- Moves that change the user or opponent's type are legal as long as they share a type with the user.
- Curse is a Ghost-type move in Generation V and may be used by Ghost-types.
- Matches must be conducted on Pokemon Online.
- Teams must only be submitted if you wish to change something, unless you somehow still have not sumbitted a team.
