5th Generation Confirmed?

Nintendo is catering to the non-competitive players. Non comp. players tend to play ingame. Counters are not needed ingame.

The competitive players could work out a system (like the 200 metagame) in order to limit the amount of Pokemon present in the metagame.

Please, stop acting like the future generations will be the end of the world.

Nintendo will NEVER have a game with over 1000+ Pokemon to catch. Why? Simply because one cartridge cannot fit all that data.

We are in 2008. We have 493 Pokemons. Ten years ago, everyone had a "Small" CD Player, AKA WalkMan. 5 years ago we had 1GB MP3. 2 Years ago, we had 10GB MP3. Now we got 30+GB MP3/4. (An Ipod is MUCH smaller than a Walkman)->WRONG INFORMATIONS, ITS JUST TO YOU GET MY POINT.

With that, i mean: Data(Technollogy) isnt an obstacle. Its evolving too fast.

Read my first post...

I think that some day, they won't be able to fit little digits very close to each other and technology coulndn't get more advanced, something like a 1000 gb hand device that's like 2 cm x 2 cm.

Seriously, who'd want something like that?

I doubt they'll make them any smaller than at present, although handheld consoles have got much bigger recently (GB Micro ----> Nndo DS).

Unless the human race evolves tiny hands and loses its eyes (not altogether impossible if War of the Worlds has any message for us) your prophecy is unlikely to come true.

I think that someday my arm will turn into a bowl of candy corn, that doesn't mean mean I'm not a fool. The simple fact is, you're wrong. There is no feasible limit on the amount of data we can store because the "digits" can get smaller, and even if they reached a minimum size, information could be stored off site and communicated with.

Whoever was talking about the 1700 OU pokemon isn't thinking or is full of crap. The vast majority of those would be NFEs and it's nearly impossible to have a population that large be balanced. If there was an enormous base, I imagine we'd just create smaller sample mini-tiers custom tailored for certain styles of play.

I prefer a counterpart to Life Orb. Attacks dealt against you do 20% less damage, but to compensate your own attacks do 10% less damage on the opponents. Quite frankly, Life Orb is just too good (no I'm not saying it should be a suspect, lol), I feel defensive pokémon should get something to help them too.

Blissey would become ridiculous, though. But she wouldn't like losing her Leftovers, so it's a fair trade, right?

How about a reverse Choice Item? You get a 50% bonus to your defense/special defense, but you're not allowed to use the same move twice in a row.

What sort of a pokemon could use that? Nearly all walls and tanks and things spend some time setting up or healing themselves, that's why Trick is so effective against them.

On Bulky Sweepers like Ttar, people would keep using CB because it works in a much more beneficial way.

I Agree
things like blissey would become useless... eveyrthing would be able to make a Sub-Punch on its face

i agree about Life Orb being too powerful.

some sort of "counter" item would be most welcome.

I think a Choice defensive item would work better if it worked with a defensive tradeoff, like if you had a "Choice Brace" that boosted your Defense 1.5x, but made Super Effective attacks carry 1.5x more damage. Rather than the risk of getting locked into one attack, you had another, more defensive risk into having that boost item.

Since the cost of the regular Life Orb is defensive (you lose HP in return for more power), I'd make it so that in exchange for better defensive power, you lost something offensive, like your attacks are 30% weaker.

but something like Blissey would become almost impenetrable with an item like that, since she would still just use Seismic Toss, status and healing moves.

Best thing that could make a defensive choice item good is letting it lock you, just like Scarf/Specs/Band. If you want freedom of moves, go use my Life Orb idea!

I think that 5th gen is going to be different. no new pokemon, but rather, a bunch of pokemon with enhanced stats and wierd deformitites, like the pichu with notched ears.

it would be kinda interesting if there was some sort of "pokemon plague" you were trying to stop, and all these "twisted" versions of pokemon were showing up everywhere.

i kinda doubt that though.

Same. I pretty much just see the Notched-ear Pichu as a sign that gender-based appearance differences might be more common in the 5th gen, but not much more than that.

And they will release 100-some new Pokemon in the 5th gen, same as always. New Pokemon will sell more merchandise than "mutated," "deformed," or "enhanced" Pokemon merchandise will. Thus, Nintendo will have Game Freak make a game with more new Pokemmon so that merchandise can be sold. There's practically no chance of a new generation coming out without new Pokemon.

Hmmm....another Colosseum sequel?

Either way, I'd welcome another game like XD that would give more Pokemon moves that they couldn't learn before. :) Maybe even stuff like Rapid Spin....

EDIT;; Note that the console games are generally executed poorly, Pokemon just isn't meant for consoles. I'm suggesting, maybe even something in-game, like only Pokemon obtained in this way can learn x special move....

Just remember, SRing for a Rapid Spin xxx would be just as annoying and difficult as SRing for Raikou or Suicune :(

In the new trailer for the 12th Pokemon movie, where Arceus stars they revealed this.

There's no reason for them to hide a Pokemon from the 4th gen so it makes sense its new pokemon.
That'd be Notched Ear Pichu... *points at Serebii*
