A Desert Asault (sandstorm RMT)

Intro:
I don't normally use sandstorm teams but after using this team bit I'm starting to like sandstorm now. I've been playing this team for while now i need a little help and what to do next.

what the team does:
My teams overall goal is set up entry hazards and sweep up the torn bit of my opponents team once the entry hazards have been set up and would like to build up off this idea.

Tyranitar@leftovers/lum berry
sand stream
240:hp 36:atk 48:def 184:sp.def
sassy(+sp.def -spd)
stealth rocks
fire punch/earthquake
stone edge
crunch
About the set:
Anti lead Tyranitar you would see evey day. fire punch kills Brozong. crunch for azelf. Stone edge for Gyrados. Merely meant to get up rocks and sandstorm and kill whatever it can quickly. Earthquake can hit other Ttar. stealth rocks is chosen over taunt to add on some damage on entry. i put stealth rocks on tyranitar instead of skarmory beacuse skarm does better at seting up spikes instead of it only doing one thing a match.

About evs:

117 speed makes it able to take brozong gyro ball. low speed makes it's slower then abomasnow so sandstorm will always go up after hail.

Synergy:
Sets up sandstorm

jirachi.png

jirachi@leftovers
serene grace
252:hp 160:def 96:sp.def
careful(+sp.def -sp.atk)
zen headbutt
cosmic power
fire punch
wish

About the set:
cosmic power can boost up def for long fights and to out last stall. fire punch hits steels except for heatran who jirachi has no reason to be trying to fight. fire punch hits scizor really hard which is good seeing how it is becomimg increasingly used now a days. wish gives a nice amount of team support being heal provided they can come in safe. zen headbutt for poison types and reliable damage.

About evs:
252 hp 160 def 96sp.def to max out deffence capabilties.

Synergy:
wish passer

skarmory.png

Skarmory@leftovers
sturdy
252:hp 154:def 96:atk 4:spd
impish(+def -sp.atk)
spikes
roost
brave bird
whirlwind
About the set:
Spikes and whirlwind together coupled with sand storm and stealth rocks equal large pain upon entry. roost for some nice recover. Brave bird can damage when needed.

About evs:
Not that much defence is needed on something with this much base defence.

Synergy:
Imune to earthquake. Spikes set up.
rotomheat.png

Rotom-h@choice scarf
levitate
252:sp.atk 252:spd 6:hp
modest(+sp.atk -atk)
overheat
thunderbolt
trick
shadow ball
About the set:
Rotom-h is good at being decently bulky, fast, and strong at the same time. it has a decent typing with levitate. Overheat is helpful for steel types. Thunder bolt makes quick work of waters. Trick can skcreew over pokemon like blissey and snorlax. Shadow ball for stab. rotom is also good for blocking rapid spin.

About evs:
Basic sweeper set 252 speed evs 252 sp.attack evs for maximum strength and speed

Synergy:
Blocks spin and hits common rapid spiners
tentacruel.png

tentacruel@leftovers
liquid ooze
204:hp 132:sp.atk 172:sp.def
calm(+sp.def -atk)
rapid spin
surf
hp[elc]
toxic spikes

About the set:
Tentacruel one of the special walls in the game second to Blissey in usefulness. But i chose Tentacruel over bliss for one main reason, toxic spikes. Toxic spikes is great in sandstorm with it's ability to cuntiuiesly add up damage. Rapid spin is also another reason i chose it over blissey being able spin makes it a lot easier for Sallamence to come in. Surf is a good for stab and taking care of heatran if it's not using earth power. hp[elc] is for other water types excluding swampert and lanturn.

About evs:
Maxing speacial deffence is undeeded scine it has a ton of it already. The rest was put into speacial attack scince the next most useful stat.

Synergy:

Counters mix ape. Rapid spin. Absorb toxic spikes.

salamence.png

salamence@choice scarf
intimidate
252:atk 172:spd 80:sp.atk
naughty
outrage
auqa tail
earthquake
fire blast
About the set:
Salamence truly a force to be reckoned with thanks to outrage. Outrage can do massive amounts of damage to almost every pokemon and can be a perfect move for late game sweeping. Dragon claw can hit hard without the confusion and being locked into it. Earthquake is a nice choice for Jolteon and other steel or electric pokemon and great for revenge killing Magnazone. Fire blast can destroy steel types.

About evs:
Max attack for maxium pain. 176 speed evs total 420 speed giving it the ablity destroy in late game. 80 sp.attack is to boost fire blast.

Synergy:
Avoids earthquake for Tyranitar.

Conclusion:
This team has gotten me 16 wins in a row (a record for me) and it seems to me i have no major weakness that needs ajustment.
Thing i'd like to add:
rapid spin

You are certainly not using Sandstorm to it's fullest potential. You don't have ANY rock pokemon to benefit!

I recommend this over Bronzong for a very potent walling duo:

Cradily @ Leftovers
Careful - Suction Cups
252 HP/ 160 Def/ 96 Sp.Def
>Stockpile/ Rock Slide/ Protect (I use Stockpile)
>Recover
>Toxic
>Earthquake

Replace Bronzong.

Since you now have a big Water and Ice weakness, I recommend this Empoleon:

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Modest - Torrent
252 HP/ 190 Sp.Atk/ 68 Sp.Def
>Surf
>Ice Beam
>Grass Knot
>Protect

This set has worked wonders for me in a team like this. I'm not sure exactly what you'd replace, but try the set. With it, you can survive an Earthquake from an Impish 252 Atk/ 252 Def/ 6 Attack Swampert (including MixPert) and OHKO back with Grass Knot (as long as Stealth Rock is on the Field).

Alright ill try cradily but jirachi will cover the ice and water weakness decently. I might run hp[grass] on heatran to revenge kill swampert.

I am extremely worried about your DD Gyarados weak. After one DD (possibly two to deal with Heatran) your team is demolished. Now you could try running Stone Egde on Hippowdon over Roar / Toxic but this is unreliable as with the flinch chance and the chance of Stone Edge missing you only have 1/2 a chance of that happening and that's assuming he only has 2 DDs. Perhaps Calm Mind Celebi > Calm Mind Jirachi in this case as it still has the potential to sweep. You could run the "More Leech Seed and Calm Mind set, which will allow you to counter Gyarados, set up seed which helps against Sandstorm damage and still have the sweeping potential Jirachi has with Calm Mind, although more defensive Leech Seed sets will still work.

I'm loving the scarf Mence, I have used him to great effect before. The only problem that I see with him is that you are only hitting 354 Speed, I would run at least 140 Speed EVs, this will give you the chance to outspeed DD Kingdra and DDMence after one Dragon Dance, somethings that this really need to be beating. In fact at the moment you aren't even beating Scarf Heatran, which really is an embarresment for this Salamence. I really do suggest pumping more Speed EVs into this. Look at the Smogon OverUsed Speed tiers to decide what you want to outspeed.

I might even go as far as suggesting Skarmory > Hippowdon. It can set up spikes allowing you to effectively stall better. At the moment this team has an element of Stall but really fails to carry it off effectively, but if you add in Skarmory i think it will helkp you to do this better. Good luck with your team, and I hope some of this helped :D

Sorry it was just a typo on Salamences speed. The Celebi and Empoleon have been working great together although I'm thinking of replacing Empoleon for Vaporeon

Replacing Empoleon would leave the team in even more trouble from its own sandstorm.

Interesting is the fact that despite running sandstorm, the vast majority of your pokes are not even immune to the sand, let alone benefitting from it.

You really don't need Azelf on your team, you don't have a face-paced glass cannon team. I would go with Anti-Lead T-Tar to get Sandstorm up and deal with common leads. Then, you can go with what Goldfan suggested and use a Skarmory over your Hippowdon to help stall things. If you want Spikes on Skarmory and you still want Stealth Rocks, try putting Stealth Rocks on Heatran as the first switch will likely be to a bulky water so might as well make use of it to set up some rocks.

I agree. Also, you have a Gyarados weakness since it easily 2HKOs your Celebi thanks to Sandstorm. I would recommend Vaporeon over Empoleon.. at least for defensive purposes. Salamence seems a little out of place since you already have scarfed Heatran. You could move empoleon to that slot and use offensive empoleon. Also, like most Sandstorm teams, you are a bit mixape weak since your only way to counter it is by revenge killing, and one mispredict will cost you Heatran.

first of all, stone edge > thunderpunch on tyranitar, as stone edge hits gyarados for 300 power, the same as thunderpunch, but stone edge hits everything else twice as hard.

uhh okay, this is an interesting enough team. there is, however, a bit of a problem. stall basically destroys you. in fact, basic stuff like skarmbliss pretty much walls your team all day. throw in a tentacruel and maybe a resttalking rotom and there's no way you're getting through even that.
there are a few ways you can fix this. as it is now, celebi is mainly just a cm sweeper, with some leech seed support (as far as stopping gyarados, clefable actually does it better than your current set anyways). if you go with a cm clefable, you can basically shit all over stall whenever you want. what's so great about clefable is that basically stall can't really touch it due to magic guard and the ability to hit the most popular phazers, skarmory and hippowdon, incredibly hard as they phaze you. and then offense has some trouble still, as once you get a few cms in, they really become desperate and therefore incredibly predictable.

I'd also like you to try a scarved rotom-f over heatran. basically, you already have a solid lategame sweeper in salamence (so it's okay to trick away your scarf), and all scarftran really does is take fire attacks and stop a few threats. scarfed rotom-f beats all the same things but also has the option of screwing over a problem wall with trick, further helping you beat stall. and then even more than that, it beats any earth power skymins as well as subseeders, something heatran cannot do. but one of the selling points for me is his ability to come in on explosions and fighting attacks aimed by a desperate opponent at clefable, as well as beating any people that try and spin away your spikes and sr, mainly because all the spinners die to rotom.

also, more of a nitpick than anything else, but ice beam > toxic on vaporeon is an option, as you lack a solid switch into ddmence, while the main things you're hitting with toxic are really setup fodder for clefable, and gyarados (incase you think hp electric is better) is solidly revenge killed by both of your scarfers and stopped by clefable.
here are the sets in the format you're using.

Clefable@leftovers
Magic Guard
252:hp 252:def 4:satk
bold
calm mind
softboiled
thunderbolt
ice beam

rotom-f@choice scarf
252:spe 252:spa
modest
trick
overheat
thunderbolt
shadow ball

good luck.

i would suggest tyranitar using taunt instead of Stealth Rocks to mess up Bronzong, by far the most common lead, and it's good for things that like to BP like Ninjask starters.

And also i suggest using thunder over thunderpunch since you're using it for gyarados, but it's not going to be a OHKO, while thunder has an OK chance to. But yeah, the "safest" way would be to go stone edge i suppose.

@staththanks: for tip about using rotom-h it may not be doing as much killing as heatran but trick has been rather helpful.

@j0ht0 m4st312:thanks for the tip but im somewhat prefer stealth rocks for extra damage.

diingdong was totally right in my opinion.
I find a huge water/ice weakness, anyways that is covered by Vaporeon who can take both and then stall.
You do need a rock pokemon who can benefit from the SS. About the Cradily I like it however I would go with:
Cradily @ Leftovers/Lum Berry
Impish Nature (252HP/164Def/92Atk)
- Recover
- StockPile
- Swords Dance
- Rock Slide
Can sweep and it usntopable after it sets up.
Tyraniar is a bit of a let-down, however it does face some of the common leads.
Jirachi could stall properly on this team, I would personally go with:
Jirachi @ Leftovers
- Zen Headbutt
- Cosmic Power
- Toxic
- Wish
Zen Headbutt has a 60% chance of flinching with Jirachi's ability and also gets STAB'ed, he is not hurt by the Sandstorm and can Recover, afford Wish support, keep stalling after Vaporeon faints, boost defenses and do some damage with the Zen Headbutt.
Clefable was great, I really liked it however, I would give it Flame Orb, that way you can't be statused again, wont get damaged and he can be the Status absorber for the team. Just Beware of Lanturn who can deal with the BoltBeam combination.
In general, its a good team, I would DEFINATELLY ditch Salamence out of this team, I find no point on having him around.

@LuistheNinja:thanks for the rate but i disagree with somethings. Tyranitar has done a great job of using sandstorm to come back in later and attack things like Zapdos who would run over most of my team so i don't see why adding Cradily would help since i've already tried adding it.
Salamence had been a good job sweeping after spikes and stealth is laid out.
Would you mind giving some evs and nature for the jirachi I'd like to try it out over clefable.

max skarmory's defense and get rid of the attack EVs. skarmory may have high defense but it doesn't have 700+ hp like blissey so it needs all the defense it can get, if it plans on tanking CB ttar stone edge and other boosted physical assaults.

I don't know why someone thought making 96 arbitrary attack EVs on skarmory the standard in the analysis was a good idea.
