A Pokemon Colosseum warstory: Toothache vs Evice

Toothache

Let the music play!
is a Community Leader Alumnus
I had fought long and hard at this point. The criminal organisation Cipher had invited me to participate in their newest colosseum, Realgem, and with my sights firmly set on bringing them down, I could not refuse, even knowing I was walking into a trap.

I fought four trainers in a row, and hardly broke a sweat. Even the last one, which was tougher than the rest, was no problem. This left me with a match with what I thought was Cipher's leader, the very creepy Nascour. However, with a bit of luck on my side, I was finally able to best him, even snagging his Shadow Metagross in the process. I was not prepared for what came next.

J: Nascour is apologising? Isnt he supposed to be the leader?

My partner's inquiry shook me back to reality. If Nascour is not the leader of Cipher, then I would have to prepare for another challenge it seems. I quickly take the time heal my injured Pokemon, then step forward to meet my challenger. I have to lower my sight and I am surprised to see the mayor of Phenac, Es Cade here.

Es Cade: My my, that certainly was a battle worth seeing. I must be honest with you, I never imagined you would get this far.

J: Huh? Mr Mayor? Why are you here.

Es Cade: Oh, dear me. Do you fail to understand still? You're such an innocent child. At times, I am the affable mayor of Phenac. At at others, I am the secret boss of the criminal syndicate Cipher. I am Evice, and I shall rule the world!

With that, his appearance changes, becoming a much more fearsome individual than one would expect for someone so small. I steel myself, and my hands draw closer to my Pokeballs in expectation.

Evice: How dare you meddle in our affairs so thoroughly! The Shadow Pokemon plan, we can resurrect from the start. But you two... you'll never be forgiven! I'll destroy you utterly so you may never again rise against me!

With that, I knew there were no more words to be spoken. My Pokeballs in my hand, I let them fly and prepared for battle!

Turn 1:
I sent out Plusle and Feraligatr!
Evice sent out Slowking and Machamp!

This was a dangerous start for Feraligatr. Since Slowking resisted three of her moves, I chose the only option left to me.

Plusle used Helping Hand
Feraligatr used Earthquake!
Plusle fainted!
Machamp took ~75% damage!
Slowking took ~75% damage!
I sent out Skarmory
Machamp used Earthquake!
Slowking fainted!
Feraligatr took ~35% damage!
Skarmory is unaffected!
Evice sends out Salamence!
Salamence's Intimidate makes Skarmory's Attack fall!
Salamence's Intimidate makes Feraligatr's Attack fall!

Alright, this went very well. With one of Evice's Pokemon gone already, and one of my own, this battle was more or less on an even footing. Feraligatr had taken a strong hit and survived, but Machamp came off worse from the exchange. With Salamence now on the field I decided to go for Blizzard, I should be able to take it out in one hit.

Turn 2
Evice uses X-Attack on Salamence!
Evice uses X-Attack on Machamp!
Feraligatr uses Blizzard!
Salamence takes ~95% damage!
Its a critical hit!
Machamp fainted!
Evice sends out Scizor!
Skarmory uses Shadow Rush!
Its a critical hit!
Scizor takes ~20% damage!

Salamence survived, which compounded my worries. I had a feeling it would be faster than Feraligatr, but I had to chance it. Even if it wasnt, I should be able to survive whatever Salamence throws at me and still do a lot of damage to Scizor, and return to finish it off later.

Turn 3:
Salamence used Double-Edge!
Feraligatr takes ~55% damage!
Salamence is hurt by recoil!
Salamence fainted!
Evice sends out Slaking
Feraligatr uses Surf!
Slaking takes ~25% damage!
Scizor takes ~60% damage!
Scizor uses Silver Wind!
Feraligatr fainted!
I send out Espeon
Skarmory uses Shadow Rush!
Scizor takes ~19% damage!

Ouch. I forgot Salamence had Double-Edge, and that thing did a huge amount of damage with the X-Attack under its belt. The recoil did me a favour and finished it off, allowing me to get some damage on Slaking with a Torrented Surf, and a lot more on Scizor in the process. I use Espeon as a lure to get Feraligatr back in the action quickly. I wasnt expecting Scizor to survive so much punishment, but it will actually work in my favour in the long run.

Turn 4
I used Revive on Feraligatr
Slaking uses Crush Claw!
Espeon fainted!
Feraligatr is sent out
Scizor used Silver Wind!
Feraligatr takes ~35% damage!
Skarmory used Shadow Rush!
Scizor fainted!
Tyranitar is sent out!
Tyranitar whips up a Sandstorm!
Slaking takes 6% damage from the Sandstorm
Feraligatr takes 6% damage from the Sandstorm

From behind me, I hear my partner's cry

J: Look, its another Shadow Pokemon!

With that, I prepare my snag machine, and grab my Master Ball ready for the capture. I can finish this in one shot, it is risky, but with Feraligatr weakened I have little choice but to go for broke.

Turn 5
I throws a Snag Ball!
Tyranitar is captured!
Feraligatr uses Hydro Pump!
Slaking fainted!

Battle result: 5-0

With that, I breathed a sigh of relief, thankful the battle was over. Evice groans in defeat, and the battlefield becomes quickly surrounded by people, first the Police Chief Sherles and his deputy, then Duking and Silva, and finally even Eagun shows up with his Pikachu.

Out of nowhere a helicopter appears, obvious intended to give Evice an escape out of being surrounded.

Evice: Blast you! Don't you forget what you've done, I! It wont end this way next time! I will ruin you the next time, I promise you that!

As the helicopter approaches, Evice prepares to jump on to the descended ladder and escape. Just then out of nowhere, a blast of fire appears from the sky, followed by a perculiar sound. The blast knocked the helicopter clean out of the sky. I turn up to see an amazing sight - it was the legendary Pokemon, Ho-oh!

Satisfied that all was well, I left Ceres Station in search of a new bounty to hunt... oh wait, what actually happened was that Evice was captured, and the story ended well... or did it? I wasnt sure that all the Shadow Pokemon were snagged, and even with the downfall of Cipher, there were probably plenty more to free from the curse of Cipher. I shall have to continue my search.

I really liked the HH Combo w/ Feraligatr and Plusle.

Overall, I liked the Warstory very much, I think I've learned a few combos by watching this.

That was a very different warstory.. And quite enjoyable. X-Attack, Shadow moves, a snag... Good luck finding those in a warstory.

That was quite short, but afterall it's a speed run. He gave me much more trouble ~_~. Still a decent read, I never saw the use in that Plusle but you had a nice strategy to turn something useless into an asset. Very nice. I'm curious, did you abuse the Master Ball glitch for easy snags?

EDIT: Oh. Well I can't watch the video >.<

It shows in the video what he did indeed abuse that wonderful wonderful glitch,at least on T-Tar.

IMO, some details in real life could have been a great addition to make it a bit more entertaining. Like, "I tensed on my gamecube controller", is an example.

It just sounds corny. I like it when people are straight to the point, with the occasional drama play, not the crap that some people put in. Nice warstory Toothache, one of the few I read, if not only because it's different to the rest.

I actually saw this one youtube first. I've been watching your speedrun for months now and it is excellent. This battle was pretty amazing, especially as Evice's levels were so against you.

Yeah, Evice was a royal pain. I had to buff my levels to insane points and I almost got killed when scizor baton passed his sword dances. And to top it off, I diddn't know about the masterball glitch so I wasted the masterball on T-Tar.

Long story short, I hated that fight.

This was a fun warstory to read. Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Don't forget the use of a revive.

Once I got up to Evice and never managed to beat him, he's that hard for me :(

Nice and unique warstory with Evice :D
