When I first came up with the idea for this team, I tried to focus on a winning combination: heavy tanks (capable of dishing as much as they take) along with strong sweepers (who can hit fast and hard). I did this by selecting three tanks who covered each other's weaknesses well, and then going for sweepers who had good chemistry with the pros and cons of the other team members. One is standard; the other's a bit more unique. Now that I've given you some background, without further ado (changes are in Red.):
Swampert @ Leftovers
252 HP/100 Defense/100 SpDef/56 SpAtt
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Torrent
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Ice Beam
-Surf
I went with Swampert over Snorlax; he serves the same role as a mixed sweeper with the added benefit of Stealth Rock. While this means I don't have a RestTalker, 'Pert lives without it: great coverage and survivability make him a great opener on this team.
Blissey @ Leftovers
252 HP/200 SpDef/56 SpAtt
Nature: Calm
Ability: Natural Cure
-Heal Bell
-Softboiled
-Thunder Wave
-Ice Beam
I went with Softboil over Wish/Protect Blissey because, without a sleeper, I needed the extra slot for TWave. Otherwise, your standard team cleric/status inducer/absorber.
Weezing @ Black Sludge
252 HP/200 Def/56 SpAtt
Nature: Bold
Ability: Levitate
-Haze/Fire Blast
-Will 'o Wisp
-Pain Split
-Thunderbolt
I very much like Weezing on this team. His sole weakness, psychic, is handled nicely by two members of this team, which leaves him the ability to deal out status effects and some substantial damage. Haze/Fire Blast is probably my biggest problem on this team: Haze basically removes threats of BP teams as well as heavy stallers, but FB gives Weezing some very nice coverage. WoW, PS, and TBolt are all standard, though I'm considering dropping 'Split for something else.
Deoxys-S @ Choice Specs
160 Attack/252 SpAtt/96 Speed
Nature: Hasty
Ability: Pressure
-Ice Beam
-Psycho Boost
-Superpower
-Shadow Ball
Now that Deoxys-S has been dropped to OU, I get the chance to tool with his huge movepool. Maxed EV speed and Hasty nature should allow me to outspeed any non-scarfed Pokemon, and with his huge base speed I'm almost guaranteed a powerful hit with this guy. Superpower is for raw power and Tyranitar, and I went with Shadow Ball over Ice Beam to counter my slight Ghost weakness.
Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
252 Attack/252 Speed/6 HP
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Sand Veil
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Fire Blast
This is my favorite version of Scarfchomp. I went with Stone Edge to counter Gyarados, but otherwise, I generally 2HKO with Outrage and then switch out. He's also my star revenge killer because his huge type range and attack combined with his relatively few weaknesses.
Scizor @ Focus Sash
252 Attack/252 Speed/6HP
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
-Pursuit
-Iron Head
-U-Turn
-Quick Attack
I'm finishing with Scizor because his single weakness gives him great survivability, and Technician makes him an ideal Pursuiter; basically, he packs some punch late game. U-Turn works well for switching in my specialty sweepers.
I know that this team is somewhat unorthodox: without a standard sweeper, I need to rely on keeping my two main ones alive. But with that said, I try to cover my bases by providing both a solid starter and two tanks who can hold their own in combat. This team has few shared weaknesses and generally deals with all major threats. Perhaps I could de-scarf or de-specs one of the sweepers, but up until now this team has been working very well for me, so I see no reason to go back to the "usual way." Although, this team is far (far) from perfect, so ANY advice is appreciated.
Thanks! ^_^
