[OVERVIEW]

Accelgor is an adept Spikes setter, cleaner, and revenge killer thanks to its good offenses and status as the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed prominent threats like Choice Scarf Passimian, Heliolisk, and Sceptile. It is also quite versatile; Choice Specs offers raw power but requires a good amount of prediction, while Fightinium Z sets offer a good amount of utility by setting Spikes and can keep themselves healthy with Recover. However, Accelgor heavily struggles against Poison-type Pokemon such as Garbodor, Golbat, and Weezing. While it excels offensively, its defensive presence is lacking despite its access to Recover due to its bad defensive typing and vulnerability to all entry hazards. As an offensive Spikes setter, Accelgor is overshadowed by Garbodor, which is an easier Pokemon to use thanks to its better defenses and defensive typing.

Moves
========

Bug Buzz is Accelgor's strongest STAB move, which hurts Pokemon such as Slowking, Sneasel, and Sceptile for super effective damage and 2HKOes Xatu and Sigilyph. Focus Blast allows Accelgor to punish certain switch-ins such as Incineroar, Steelix, Rhydon, and Aerodactyl. Energy Ball is used mainly to deal more damage to Pokemon like Vaporeon, Seismitoad, and Palossand. Spikes heightens Accelgor's offensive presence with chip damage, and it can set Spikes easily thanks to its combined speed and power forcing switches.

Set Details
========

With maximum Special Attack and Speed investment and Choice Specs, Accelgor is decently powerful and becomes the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed Choice Scarf Passimian as well as power through threats like Xatu and Druddigon. Sticky Hold ensures it will never lose its Choice Specs to Knock Off or Trick.

Usage Tips
========

Accelgor can be used as a lead thanks to its ability to threaten out Passimian leads and begin setting Spikes or fire off a powerful attack. Due to its paltry defenses, Accelgor should never be brought in against a direct attack. Instead, bring Accelgor in by a pivot, if a teammate has been knocked out, or with an aggressive double switch. If you predict that the opponent will bring in a Pokemon that can take Bug Buzz like Garbodor, Rhydon, Steelix, or Palossand, it is best to either go for one of Accelgor's coverage moves or continue setting Spikes. Keep Accelgor as healthy as possible so it can potentially clean late-game once its checks are removed.

Team Options
========

Spinners such as Blastoise and Dhelmise pair well with Accelgor, since they can clear entry hazards without removing the Spikes it sets. Xatu in particular is an excellent partner, since it can beat Steelix one-on-one and still provides excellent hazard control. Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Druddigon, and Steelix can form a hazard stacking core with Accelgor. Rhydon can also help deal with bulky Flying-types like Golbat and Substitute Braviary and Fire-types such as Incineroar, Delphox, and Magmortar if Accelgor has locked itself into the wrong move. Pivots like Passimian, Togedemaru, and Incineroar can help bring Accelgor into battle safely. Passimian can also check Rock-types, while Togedemaru can check Golbat and Substitute Braviary. Psychic-types like Sigilyph, Delphox, and Slowking can help Accelgor deal with Poison-types. Delphox can even help provide Wish support for Accelgor, and Sigilyph appreciates the Spikes support given it forces many switches itself. Slowking provides Future Sight support, which prevents Poison-types from pivoting in against Accelgor or else they risk getting hit hard.

Moves
========

Accelgor is a good Spikes setter thanks to its amazing speed and good offenses that often allow it to force switches against Pokemon it outspeeds and threatens such as Choice Scarf Passimian, Sceptile, and Heliolisk. Bug Buzz threatens Pokemon such as Alolan Exeggutor, Sneasel, and Slowking while 2HKOing Xatu after Stealth Rock and dealing decent damage to Dhelmise and Decidueye. Focus Blast powered up by Fightinium Z allows Accelgor to punish Steel- and Rock-type switch-ins such as Steelix, Rhydon, and Aerodactyl. Recover is mainly used to heal Accelgor on forced switches and scout for what move Choice Scarf Passimian goes for.

Set Details
========

A Timid nature with maximum Speed investment makes Accelgor the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed the most ubiquitous Choice Scarf user, Passimian, as well as other fast Pokemon like Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Aerodactyl. Fightinium Z allows Accelgor to bypass Focus Blast's shaky accuracy and severely dent Pokemon such as Incineroar, Steelix, and Aerodactyl with All-Out Pummeling, as well as reducing the damage taken by Knock Off. Hydration heals Accelgor from status conditions in the rain, which can help improve its matchups against rain teams.

Usage Tips
========

Accelgor can be used as a lead because it often forces switches and from there begin setting Spikes or fire off a powerful attack. It can also wallbreak at any point in the game or even clean late-game if its checks and counters are gone. Because of Accelgor's less-than-stellar defenses and defensive typing, bring it in by a pivot, if a teammate has been knocked out, or with an aggressive double switch. Make sure that entry hazards are cleared, since Accelgor will be constantly switching in and out of battle. Use Recover when you predict the foe will switch out their Pokemon or to scout for what move Passimian locks itself into. Try to save Accelgor's Z-Move for a Pokemon it can lure into battle and remove that normally can take Bug Buzz, such as Magmortar, Braviary, or Steelix.

Team Options
========

A Rapid Spin user such as Blastoise or Dhelmise is recommended when using Accelgor, since they not only clear entry hazards for it but also don't clear its Spikes. Blastoise can also help keep Fire-types in check for Accelgor. Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Druddigon, and Steelix can form a hazard stacking core. Rhydon can also help deal with bulky Flying-types like Golbat and Substitute Braviary and Fire-types such as Incineroar, Delphox, and Magmortar if Accelgor has locked itself into the wrong move. Setup sweepers like Comfey, Sigilyph, and Incineroar appreciate Accelgor's Spikes chipping certain Pokemon to make their time sweeping easier. Incineroar also appreciates Accelgor threatening Rhydon and keeping faster foes in check. Comfey also likes Accelgor removing Steelix and Incineroar so it can sweep later on. Other offensive Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Braviary appreciate Accelgor's ability to lure in and beat Pokemon that wall their STAB moves, such as Rhydon, Incineroar, and Steelix.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A bulkier set utilizing maximum HP and Final Gambit + Fightinium Z can be used to heavily dent certain Pokemon that counter Accelgor such as Golbat, Garbodor, and Weezing, making it a solid choice as a lure for teams relying on Comfey as a wincon. Hidden Power Psychic could be used on the Choice Specs set to lure in and take out Poison-types if Accelgor's team already has another Spiker like Garbodor.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Assault Vest Magmortar can comfortably take any of Accelgor's moves. Delphox can outspeed Accelgor with Choice Scarf, and Wish variants can come in against most of Accelgor's moves barring Bug Buzz. Incineroar can revenge kill Accelgor from full health, since it can take All-Out Pummeling and a Choice Specs-boosted Bug Buzz. Charizard is a notable counter, since it can take anything Accelgor goes for, is immune to Spikes, and can use Accelgor as setup fodder.

**Poison-types**: Accelgor lacks a move to hit Poison-types for super effective damage, meaning Pokemon like Garbodor, Weezing, and Golbat can easily deal with it. Golbat in particular is problematic because it can stomach any of Accelgor's moves and threaten it with Brave Bird or clear its Spikes with Defog.

**Special Walls**: Defensive Pokemon such as Steelix, Druddigon, Vaporeon, and Mega Audino can usually take any attack Accelgor goes for and can retaliate by attacking it, threatening it with status conditions, or simply healing off the damage. However, Vaporeon and Steelix must watch out for coverage moves, and Druddigon is easy to wear down with Spikes and repeated attacks.

**Flying-types**: Pokemon like Aerodactyl, Vivillon, and Substitute Braviary can all take advantage of Accelgor, especially if it is Choice-locked into Bug Buzz, and threaten it out of battle. Braviary, however, is 2HKOed by Focus Blast after Stealth Rock damage.

**Faster Threats and Priority**: Accelgor may be fast, but it is vulnerable to being revenge killed by Choice Scarf users like Heliolisk and Togedemaru. Common priority users such as Comfey, Pangoro, Sneasel, Piloswine, and Absol can easily revenge kill Accelgor if it has been weakened enough.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Accelgor has a niche as a Spikes setter and a wallbreaker thanks to its amazing Speed, good offenses, and movepool that allows it to punish typical Bug- checks such as Steelix, Rhydon, and Incineroar. I'd rather call it a cleaner / revenge killer than a wallbreaker, as well, its easily walled a lot of the time.
  • It's high Speed makes it the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed prominent threats like Passimian, Heliolisk, and Sceptile.
  • However, Accelgor has a poor defensive presence thanks to its bad typing and awful defenses, meaning it cannot come in against any offensive Pokemon. Recover set can come in on pass if absolutely needed.
  • Accelgor's shallow movepool combined with its reliance on Choice Specs to do meaningful damage also means it can be easily taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Garbodor, Golbat, and Weezing. Deemphasize specs here a bit, as there's gonna be a written up fight-z set.
  • As an offensive Spikes setter, Accelgor is overshadowed by the much slower Garbodor, which is much more splashable in NU thanks to its better defenses and defensive typing.

Comfey also likes Accelgor removing Steelix and Incineroar so it can sweep later on.
  • Other offensive Pokemon like Passimian, Sceptile, and Togedemaru appreciate Accelgor's ability to beat certain Pokemon that check them such as Incineroar, Steelix, and Braviary. Passimian and Togedemaru also double as pivots for Accelgor, while Togedemaru can also threaten Golbat for Accelgor.

  • Final Gambit can be used in any of the sets to heavily dent certain Pokemon that counter Accelgor such as Golbat, Garbodor, and Weezing. Bulky z-final gambit is an incredibly solid lure on comfey builds, play with it and put it in here.
  • A set using Focus Sash along with Spikes / Bug Buzz / Toxic Spikes or Encore / Final Gambit can be used for hyper-offense teams, but this archetype is very rare in NU and difficult to use in other types of teams.

However, these Pokemon don't want to come in directly against Accelgor nor do they deal with entry hazards well.

**Poison-types**: Accelgor lacks a move to hit Poison-types for super effective damage, meaning Pokemon like Garbodor, Weezing, and Golbat can easily deal with it.

  • However, Accelgor has a poor defensive presence thanks to its bad typing and awful defenses, although Fightinium Z sets mitigate this shortcoming with Recover. listing a negative and then immediately following it up with a positive doesn't work. instead, have a point before this addressing the differences between Choice Specs and Fightinium Z sets (specs has raw power, fight z gives a bit more overall utility)
  • Accelgor's shallow movepool also means it can be easily taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Garbodor, Golbat, and Weezing.
  • As an offensive Spikes setter, Accelgor is overshadowed by the much slower Garbodor, which is much more splashable in NU thanks to its better defenses and defensive typing. splashable = bad word. defenses and defensive typing have some overlap, so maybe say its defensive traits and comparable utility put it above Accelgor in general

Moves
========

  • Bug Buzz is Accelgor's strongest STAB move, which hurts Pokemon such as Slowking, Sneasel, and Sceptile for super effective damage, while also 2HKOing Xatu and Sigilyph.
  • Focus Blast allows Accelgor to punish Steel- and Rock-type switch ins such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Regirock. Aerodactyl > Regirock
  • Energy Ball is used mainly to deal more damage to Pokemon like Blastoise, Seismitoad, and Palossand. Vaporeon > Blastoise
  • Spikes can be used to heighten Accelgor's offensive presence with chip damage, and it can set them easily thanks to its combined speed and power forcing switches.

Set Details
========

  • This set makes Accelgor decently powerful and the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed the most ubiquitous Choice Scarf user, Passimian as well as threats like Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Aerodactyl.
  • Choice Specs turns Accelgor into a threatening offensive Pikemon thanks to its solid offenses. reword these first two bullets to be a bit more concise/less awkwardly worded. I think you could just state something like "evs + nature and item make accelgor fast and strong, letting it outspeed unga and hit bunga hard" except more eloquently
  • Sticky Hold ensures it will never lose its Choice Specs by Knock Off or Trick.

Usage Tips
========

  • Accelgor can be used as a lead thanks to its ability to threaten out Passimian leads, and begin setting Spikes or fire off a powerful attack.
  • Thanks to its paltry defenses, Accelgor should never be brought in against a direct attack. Instead, bring Accelgor in by a pivot, if a teammate has been knocked out, or with an aggressive double switch.
  • If the opponent decides to bring in a Pokemon that takes a hit from Bug Buzz like Rhydon, Steelix, or Palossand, it is best to either go for one of Accelgor's coverage moves or continue setting Spikes. I'm not sure what you're trying to convey here. Do you mean if you predict the opponent to do this?
  • If all of Accelgor's checks and counters have been taken care of, then it can potentially clean late-game with Bug Buzz. cool, not sure how great of a usage tip this is though. maybe something about how keeping Accelgor healthy is important so that it can clean late-game once checks are removed?
  • Accelgor needs to be played aggressively, constantly switching out if the opponent brings in a Pokemon to threaten it. As such, removing entry hazards is key for Accelgor's longevity. yeah this is the exact opposite of playing aggressively. aggressive play means predicting switches and using the appropriate coverage or, if Accelgor isn't on the field, switching it in when you think your opponent will bring in something it beats. also, this should definitely not be the last bullet given you have a bullet talking about playing Accelgor late-game

Team Options
========

  • Rapid Spinners pair well with Accelgor since they do not remove the Spikes it sets. Pokemon like Blastoise and Dhelmise are good examples of these kinds of Pokemon. Xatu, in particular, is an excellent partner since it can beat Steelix one on one and still provides excellent hazard control.
  • Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Druddigon, and Steelix can form a hazard stacking core. Rhydon can also help deal with bulky Flying-types like Golbat and Substitute Braviary and Fire-types such as Incineroar, Delphox, and Magmortar if Accelgor has locked itself into the wrong move.
  • Pivots like Passimian, Togedemaru, and Incineroar can help bring Accelgor into battle safely. Passimian and Togedemaru can also help Accelgor take Rock-type moves aimed at Accelgor. Togedemaru can also help beat Golbat and Substitute Braviary. Togedemaru is not a Rock-type check; I am not switching this into any Rock-type Pokemon. You can keep the mention of it helping with Flying-types though.
  • Psychic-types like Sigilyph, Delphox, and Slowking can help Accelgor deal with Poison-types. Delphox can even help provide Wish support for Accelgor and Sigilyph appreciates the Spikes support given it forces many switches itself. Slowking provides Future Sight support, which is nice in preventing Poison-types from pivoting in against Accelgor due to them risking getting bopped by Future Sight.

Moves
========
  • Accelgor is a good Spikes setter thanks to its amazing speed and good offenses that often force switches against Pokemon it ouspeeds and threatens such as Passimian, Incineroar, and Heliolisk. Sceptile > Incineroar
  • Bug Buzz threatens Pokemon such as Alolan Exeggutor, Sneasel, and Slowking, while also 2HKOing Xatu after Stealth Rock. Dhelmise and Decidueye should probably be mentioned here seeing as how Bug Buzz is Accelgor's only way of doing something to them
  • Focus Blast powered by Fightinium Z allows Accelgor to punish Steel- and Rock-type switch ins such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Aerodactyl.
  • Recover is mainly used to help scout for Choice locked Pikemon like Passimian and heal itself on forced switches. honestly I can't think of a Choice item Pokemon other than Passimian that Recover would help against
  • Energy Ball can be used to deal more damage to Pokemon like Vaporeon, Seismitoad, and Palossand, and ensuring a OHKO against Rhydon. remove, no room for it on this set

Set Details
========
  • A Timid nature with maximum Speed investment makes Accelgor the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed the most ubiquitous Choice Scarf user, Passimian. as well as other fast Pokemon
  • Fightinium Z allows Accelgor to bypass Focus Blast's shaky accuracy and severely dents Pokemon such as Incineroar, Steelix, and Aerodactyl, as well as reduces the damage taken by Knock Off.
  • something small about how Hydration can be situationally helpful against rain teams

Usage Tips
========
  • Accelgor can potentially lead because it often forces switches, and from there begin setting Spikes or fire off a powerful attack. It can wallbreak at any point in the game, or even clean late-game if its checks and counters are gone.
  • Because of Accelgor's less than stellar defenses and defensive type, bring Accelgor in by a pivot, if a teammate has been knocked out, or with an aggressive double switch.
  • While Accelgor can revenge kill weakened opponents, be cautious of priority move users such as Sneasel, Comfey, and Piloswine. I don't think this is really worth a bullet here
  • Also make sure that entry hazards are cleared since Accelgor will be constantly switching in and out of battle.
  • Try to save Accelgor's Z-move on a Pokemon it can lure into battle that normally can take Bug Buzz, such as Magmortar, Braviary, or Steelix.
  • something about when you'd look to use Recover (on forced switches, to scout Passimian, etc)

Team Options
========
  • A Rapid Spin user such as Blastoise and Dhelmise is recommended when using Accelgor since they not only clear entry hazards for it, but they don't clear Accelgor's Spikes. Blastoise can also help keep Fire-types in check for Accelgor.
  • Set up sweepers appreciate Accelgor's Spikes chipping certain Pokemon to make their time sweeping. These Pokemon include Vivillon, Comfey, and Incineroar. Incineroar also appreciates Accelgor threatening Rhydon and the speed control that Accelgor provides and in return, it can help check the rare Soundproof Abomasnow. Comfey also likes Accelgor removing Steelix and Incineroar so it can sweep later on. I am never using Vivillon and Accelgor on the same team. Never. Soundproof Abomasnow is definitely not a worthwhile mention.
  • Other offensive Pokemon like Passimian, Sceptile, and Togedemaru appreciate Accelgor's ability to beat certain Pokemon that check them such as Incineroar, Steelix, and Braviary. Passimian and Togedemaru also double as pivots for Accelgor, while Togedemaru can also threaten Golbat for Accelgor. what Pokemon in that second list beats Passimian? you need to fix the orders in which you list Pokemon when you're referring to multiple lists so that there's consistency

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • A bulkier set utilizing maximum HP and Z-Final Gambit can be used to heavily dent certain Pokemon that counter Accelgor such as Golbat, Garbodor, and Weezing, making it a solid choice as a lure for teams relying on Comfey as a wincon.
  • Another set using Focus Sash along with Spikes / Bug Buzz / Toxic Spikes or Encore / Final Gambit can be used for hyper-offense teams, but offers very little utility outside of this. I mean, entry hazards + preventing setup isn't exactly a small amount of utility. I'd rather you just say that this set is limited to HO builds.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Flying-types**: Pokémon like Golbat and Substitute Braviary can all take advantage of Accelgor, especially if it is Choice-locked into Bug Buzz, and threaten it out of battle. Golbat, in particular, can stomach any of Accelgor's moves and threaten it with Brave Bird or clear its Spikes with Defog. Braviary, however, is 2HKO'd by Focus Blast after Stealth Rock damage. remove Golbat from this section and add Aerodactyl and Vivillon

**Faster Threats & Priority**: Accelgor may be fast, but it is vulnerable to being revenge killed by Choice Scarf users like Delphox and Togedemaru. Common priority users such as Comfey, Sneasel, and Piloswine can easily revenge kill Accelgor if it has been weakened enough.

**Super Effective Coverage**: Accelgor is often threatened out by Pokemon like Magmortar, Rhydon, and Vivillon since they can threaten it out with super effective attacks, especially if it is Choice-locked. However, these Pokemon don't want to come in directly against Accelgor nor do they deal with entry hazards well. remove this section entirely, feels way too arbitrary

**Poison-types**: Accelgor lacks a move to hit Poison-types for super effective damage, meaning Pokemon like Garbodor, Weezing, and Golbat can easily deal with it.

add section on special walls with Pokemon like Steelix, Druddigon, and friends

ordering of sections should go Poison-types -> Special Walls -> Flying-types ->Faster Threats & Priority

  • However, Accelgor's shallow movepool also means it can be easily taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Garbodor, Golbat, and Weezing.
  • While it excels offensively, its defensive presence is lacking despite its access to Recover. could talk about its severe weakness to entry hazards. should also address what its terrible defensive traits mean for Accelgor here. just saying "oh yeah it has a bad defensive presence" doesn't really help the reader.

However, these Pokemon are threatened by Accelgor's All-Out Pummeling and Vaporeon does need to be cautious about switching into a potential Energy Ball from the Choice Specs set. Druddigon takes less from A-OP than it does from Choice Specs Bug Buzz. I'd instead talk about how Steelix and Vaporeon are vulnerable to coverage, and Druddigon is easy to wear down. you could probably drop Mega Audino in here too given it switches into Accelgor super easily.

**Flying-types**: Pokémon like Aerodactyl, Vivillon, and Substitute Braviary can all take advantage of Accelgor, especially if it is Choice-locked into Bug Buzz, and threaten it out of battle. Braviary, however, is 2HKO'd by Focus Blast after Stealth Rock damage.

I mean, Rhydon deals with entry hazards fine, and I don't think trying to talk about this negative trait only a few Pokemon with super effective coverage suffer from is particularly helpful here. You have others like Magic Guard Sigilyph, Mismagius, and Assault Vest Slowking that can switch into certain moves and fuck Accelgor up. I think the main idea here is that there are certain Pokemon that switch into certain moves of Accelgor and threaten it out with super effective damage in return.

I'd rephrase this to just say it struggles with Poison-types.) also means it can be easily taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Garbodor, Golbat, and Weezing. While it excels offensively, its defensive presence is lacking despite its access to Recover die to its bad defensive typing and vulnerability to all entry hazards. As an offensive Spikes setter, Accelgor is overshadowed by the much slower (Not really sure why Garbodor's average Speed is being brought up here when you're arguing that it's a better Spiker than Accelgor) Garbodor, which is an easier Pokémon to use in NU thanks to its better defenses and defensive typing.

Other offensive Pokémon such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Braviary appreciate Accelgor's ability to lure in and beat Pokémon that wall thier STAB moves such as Rhydon, Incineroar, and Steelix.

=============

A bulkier set utilizing maximum HP and Z-Final Gambit can be used to heavily dent certain Pokemon that counter Accelgor such as Golbat, Garbodor, and Weezing, making it a solid choice as a lure for teams relying on Comfey as a wincon. Another set using Focus Sash along with Spikes / Bug Buzz / Toxic Spikes or Encore / Final Gambit can be used for hyper-offense teams, but it only fits on that specific archetype. (Remove, this is pretty much never seen, and outclassed by other Accelgor sets / Offensive Garbodor on HO) (Add a point for Hidden Power Psychic on Choice Specs, it's a decent filler to run over Spikes if you're already running a Spiker like Garb and wanna lure Poison-types since it 2HKO's them all after Stealth Rock.)

Checks and Counters
===================

(Add a section for Fire-types, AV Magmortar can switch in pretty well, Wish Delphox can come in on everything bar Specs Bug Buzz, SpD Incineroar can take a Z-Focus Blast or eat a couple Specs Bug Buzz' if necessary, and Charizard uses it as set-up fodder. You can also move the Scarf Delphox mention here as it distinguishes itself from other scarf users with it's ability to switch in on anything in Accelgor's arsenal.)

**Poison-types**: Accelgor lacks a move to hit Poison-types for super effective damage, meaning Pokemon like Garbodor, Weezing, and Golbat can easily deal with it. Golbat, in particular, can stomach any of Accelgor's moves and threaten it with Brave Bird or clear its Spikes with Defog.

**Special Walls**: Defensive Pokemon such as Steelix, Druddigon, Vaporeon, and Mega Audino can usually take any attack Accelgor goes for and can retaliate by attacking it, threatening it with status conditions, or simply heal off the damage. However, Vaporeon and Steelix must watch out for coverage moves and Druddigon is easy to wear down with Spikes and repeated attacks.

(Add Choice Scarf Heliolisk, Absol's Sucker Punch and Pangoro's Bullet Punch here as additional examples)

Accelgor is an adept Spikes setter, cleaner, and revenge killer thanks to its good offenses and the fact that it is status as the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed prominent threats like Choice Scarf Passimian, Heliolisk, and Sceptile. It is also quite versatile; Choice Specs offers raw power but requires a good amount of prediction, while Fightinium Z sets offer a good amount of utility by setting Spikes and keeps itself can keep themselves healthy with Recover. However, Accelgor heavily struggles against Poion-type Pokemon such as Garbodor, Golbat, and Weezing. While it excels offensively, its defensive presence is lacking despite its access to Recover due to its bad defensive typing and vulnerability to all entry hazards. As an offensive Spikes setter, Accelgor is overshadowed by Garbodor, which is an easier Pokémon Pokemon to use in NU thanks to its better defenses and defensive typing.

Bug Buzz is Accelgor's strongest STAB move, which hurts Pokemon such as Slowking, Sneasel, and Sceptile for super effective damage, while also 2HKOing and 2HKOes Xatu and Sigilyph. Focus Blast allows Accelgor to punish certain switch-ins (AH) such as Incineroar, Steelix, Rhydon, and Aerodactyl. Energy Ball is used mainly to deal more damage to Pokemon like Vaporeon, Seismitoad, and Palossand. Spikes can be used to heighten Accelgor's offensive presence with chip damage, and it can set them entry hazards easily thanks to its combined speed and power forcing switches.

Set Details

With maximum Special Attack and Speed investment and Choice Specs, Accelgor is decently powerful and becomes the fastest unboosted Pokemon in NU, allowing it to outspeed Choice Scarf Passimian as well as power through threats like Xatu and Druddigon. Sticky Hold ensures it will never lose its Choice Specs by to Knock Off or Trick.

Usage Tips
========

Accelgor can be used as a lead thanks to its ability to threaten out Passimian leads (RC) and begin setting Spikes or fire off a powerful attack. Thanks to its paltry defenses, Accelgor should never be brought in against a direct attack. Instead, bring Accelgor in by a pivot, if a teammate has been knocked out, or with an aggressive double switch. If you predict that the foe decides to bring in a Pokemon that takes a hit from can take Bug Buzz like Garbodor, Rhydon, Steelix, or Palossand, it is best to either go for one of Accelgor's coverage moves or continue setting Spikes. Keep Accelgor as healthy as possible so that it can potentially clean late-game once its checks are removed.

Rapid Spinners such as Blastoise and Dhelmise pair well with Accelgor, (AC) since they do not remove can clear entry hazards without removing the Spikes it sets. Pokemon like Blastoise and Dhelmise are good examples of these kinds of Pokemon. Xatu, in particular, is an excellent partner, (AC) since it can beat Steelix one-on-one (AH) and still provides excellent hazard control. Passimian can also check Rock-types for Accelgor, while Togedemaru can check Golbat and Substitute Braviary. Psychic-types like Sigilyph, Delphox, and Slowking can help Accelgor deal with Poison-types. Delphox can even help provide Wish support for Accelgor, (AC) and Sigilyph appreciates the Spikes support given it forces many switches itself. Moves

Accelgor is a good Spikes setter thanks to its amazing speed and good offenses that often allow it to force switches against Pokemon it ouspeeds outspeeds and threatens such as Choice Scarf Passimian, Sceptile, and Heliolisk. Bug Buzz threatens Pokemon such as Alolan Exeggutor, Sneasel, and Slowking (RC) while also 2HKOing Xatu after Stealth Rock and dealing decent damage to Dhelmise and Decidueye. Focus Blast powered up by Fightinium Z allows Accelgor to punish Steel- and Rock-type switch-ins (AH) such as Rhydon, Steelix, and Aerodactyl. Recover is mainly used to heal itself Accelgor on forced switches and scout for Choice Scarf Passimian. (what does this mean when Accelgor apparently outspeeds it anyway, scout what move it locks itself into?)

Set Details
========

Fightinium Z allows Accelgor to bypass Focus Blast's shaky accuracy and severely dents Pokemon such as Incineroar, Steelix, and Aerodactyl, as well as reduces the damage taken by Knock Off. Hydration heals Accelgor from status conditions in the rain, which can help improve its matchups against rain teams.

Usage Tips
========

Accelgor can potentially be used as a lead because it often forces switches (RC) and from there begin setting Spikes or fire off a powerful attack. It can also wallbreak at any point in the game (RC) or even clean late-game if its checks and counters are gone. Because of Accelgor's less-than-stellar (AH) defenses and defensive type typing, bring Accelgor in by a pivot, if a teammate has been knocked out, or with an aggressive double switch. Make sure that entry hazards are cleared, (AC) since Accelgor will be constantly switching in and out of battle. Use Recover when you predict the foe will switch out their Pokemon or to scout for what move Passimian locks itself into. Try to save Accelgor's Z-Move on a Pokemon it can lure into battle that normally can take Bug Buzz, such as Magmortar, Braviary, or Steelix.

Team Options

A Rapid Spin user such as Blastoise and Dhelmise is recommended when using Accelgor, (AC) since they not only clear entry hazards for it (RC) but they also don't clear Accelgor's Spikes. Blastoise can also help keep Fire-types in check for Accelgor. Stealth Rock setters such as Rhydon, Druddigon, and Steelix can form a hazard stacking core. Set up Setup sweepers appreciate Accelgor's Spikes chipping certain Pokemon to make their time sweeping easier. These Pokemon include Comfey, Sigilyph, and Incineroar. Comfey also likes Accelgor removing Steelix and Incineroar so it can sweep later on. **Fire-types**: Assault Vest Magmortar can comfortably take any of Accelgor's moves. Delphox can outspeed Accelgor with Choice Scarf, (AC) and Wish varients variants can come in against most of Accelgor's moves barring Bug Buzz. Other offensive Pokemon such as Heliolisk, Sceptile, and Braviary appreciate Accelgor's ability to lure in and beat Pokemon that wall their STAB moves,(AC) such as Rhydon, Incineroar, and Steelix.

Other Options
=============

===================

**Fire-types**: Assault Vest Magmortar can comfortably take any of Accelgor's moves. Delphox can outspeed Accelgor with Choice Scarf, and Wish variants can come in against most of Accelgor's moves barring Bug Buzz. Incineroar can revenge kill Accelgor from full health, since it can take All-Out Pummeling and a Choice Specs-boosted(AH) Bug Buzz.

Golbat,(RC) in particular,(RC) is problematic because it (weird flow) can stomach any of Accelgor's moves and threaten it with Brave Bird or clear its Spikes with Defog.

**Special Walls**: Defensive Pokemon such as Steelix, Druddigon, Vaporeon, and Mega Audino can usually take any attack Accelgor goes for and can retaliate by attacking it, threatening it with status conditions, or simply heal healing off the damage. However, Vaporeon and Steelix must watch out for coverage moves, and Druddigon is easy to wear down with Spikes and repeated attacks.

**Flying-types**: Pokémon Pokemon like Aerodactyl, Vivillon, and Substitute Braviary can all take advantage of Accelgor, especially if it is Choice-locked into Bug Buzz, and threaten it out of battle.
