Welcome to the first ever ADV RU Projected Live Tour and Knockout Tournament! This will be two separate live tours in the RU Room on PS (will be conducted as a room tour) to see how the potential new meta is with the new ADV RU Shifts! The new ADV UU Viability Rankings have been released, which means ADV RU could potentially be changing. Here's what you need to know:

  • There will be two live tours - one on Saturday October 5, 2024, and the other on Sunday, October 6, 2024. These will be conducted as "Room Tours" in the RU Room on Pokemon Showdown!
  • The tours will be room tours, single elimination, Best of 1
  • The first tour will be at 7:30 PM GMT-4 on Saturday, October 5!!! This will be hosted by Don Bork in the RU Room!
  • The second tour will be at 12:00 PM GMT-4 (5:00 PM GMT+1) on Sunday, October 6!!! This will be hosted by Murphy Lawden in the RU Room!
  • The games will be played in standard ADV RU format, except that:
    • Quagsire, Girafarig, and Hypno will be banned :Quagsire: :Girafarig: :Hypno:
    • Xatu and Clefable will be unbanned :Xatu: :Clefable:
  • All other standard Tournament Rules and Guidelines apply, in particular for the Knockout Stage.
  • After each live tournament, the results will be recorded here, and the Top 4 players from each Live Tournament will move to the Knockout Stage!
  • The Knockout Stage! will be a standard single elimination tournament here in this thread, not live. Since there will be 8 players, it will last 3 weeks and then a champion will be crowned. There will be no seeding, it will simply be done through Smogon bracketmaker.
  • In the event of an uneven number of players for the Knockout Stage (e.g. a duplicate player entered and made Top 4, a player got banned before Knockout Stage happened, or a player is abducted by aliens) then the next player who won the most games combined in both tours will be chosen as a replacement. In the event this also results in a tie, then the next player up will be chosen at random from those who won the most games.
  • For resources on the old meta, be sure to check out the The ADV RU Thread and join the ADV RU Discord, both of which have old sample teams, set compendium, and more!

The ADV RU Council will also analyze these projected shifts and provide a couple of Sample Teams in this thread for use during the tours, but they will likely age quickly and we encourage building for all the tours, in particular the second live tour and the Knockout Stage!

In spite of this, we encourage everyone to build in this new meta, as these teams are purely experimental and things are bound to change even as quickly as the second live tour. Good luck this weekend everyone!

Squeeby  vs  Heysup - would love to see Squeeby pull this one out but I think Heysup will prevail.
plznostep  vs  Msousa - step has been killing it in ADV lately, so I expect them to continue the great work in this tour.

Astrø  vs  THE_CHUNGLER - very close one, however I will give monsieur Astro the edge here since he has shown his skill in the tier in RUWC.
