Tournaments ADVLTL II - Format Discussion

Gonna be honest here and say I don't much care for what is included in this tournament as long as Ubers is in. However, I feel that Randbats goes against the entire point of the tournament and should not ne added. The randbats and roa community share some overlap sure but not enough to warrant the Gen 3 ladder being included as a "lower tier."

EDIT: If adv nfe is in I'll play the shit out of it. Cool list of mons with awesome building potential.

if we can’t have draft, just keep the format as it was last year. though i’m unsure why we need to wait for the draft shadow council to approve it, but im assuming there’s a reason i just don’t know what it is.
Just to address this; ADV draft is not a meta on Smogon. It has 0 official support from the Draft community at this time. But we're working on bringing it back to Smogon next year! Until then, the leadership of the tier does not want it run in site tours until the council forms and can create resources as well as a solid framework for its inclusion on the site. There is no point in my mind to spit in the face of the extremely hardworking ADV Draft leadership (who popularized the format in the first place, and continue to bring activity to it with the Draft Database and Emerald Open) by defying that plan. When the council forms, we will be happy to run it in our tours with the cooperation of ADV Draft leadership. There is literally nothing shadowy about this arrangement.

I know there are a lot of UUBL mains itching to get some tournament action, so I'd hope to see it played. It's definitely one of the most popular LTs.

I'm surprised to see ZU discussion as well cause I thought the tier was well-liked. This might be the last chance for the tier to play with Yena and we all know its going to shit once its gone, so.

From memory of last year, the doubles and orre slots were a pain for a few reasons, so if anything were to be cut to make room for another format, I'd suggest one of them.

vouching for ADV 1v1, with over 7 years of history its had an incredible showing of passion and support from its players time and time again. It is featured in an official 1v1 team tournament every year and has seen a plethora of money tours, ladders tours and the like. It has a strong set of resources that have been polished throughout the years so anybody can pick it up. Out of everything, with ADV 1v1's inclusion you are guaranteed to find strong and motivated starters for each team; we've also had non-1v1 players pick up the tier in an official tournament with no experience and do well, so the tier is highly adaptable and welcoming for the inexperienced. I would say that there's really no reason to exclude it unless every single other tier in contention also boasts this level of completeness to an even higher level

Making a case for ADV 1v1: It's consistently attracted its fair share of playerbase, and has been rather popular among the list smaller 1v1 old gens. Its resources are good, people who have played it recently have had really positive experiences, and it has a low barrier of entry for non 1v1 players. You'll easily fill out a healthy list of signups, and have a competitive tournament in the slot.
To me, it seems like the best fit for the type of tier this tour wants.

Gm.

ADV Leadership has deliberated and decided the format for ADVLTL.

We will be expanding to 12 slots, to mirror ADVPL as well as give a spotlight to a historic adv tier as well as a newer one gaining some prominence. We will not be removing any tiers for this iteration.

The format will be as follows:

6 teams. 140k budget for 12 + 2 minimum players.

ADV Ubers
ADV UUBL
ADV UU
ADV RU
ADV NU
ADV PU
ADV ZU
ADV LC
ADV DOU (Bo3)
Orre Colosseum (Bo5, closed team sheet)
ADV Random Battles (Bo3)
ADV 1v1 (Bo5)

As usual, Bo1 tiers may gentleman to Bo3 if communicated clearly and agreed upon by both players before game time, with proof required of the agreement if necessary.

We have decided to drop Manager signups next week, on July 5th. This means player signups will go up the 12th.

Thank you everyone who contributed to discussion this year!
