[SET COMMENTS]
Mega Rayquaza's incredibly high mixed attacking stats and offensive typing make it a powerful revenge killer. Aerilate-boosted Fake Out and Extreme Speed allow Mega Rayquaza to reliably revenge kill most No Guard users and Mold Breaker + Shell Smash sweepers, with exceptions being Flying-resistant Pokemon like Dialga, Zekrom, and Mega Tyranitar as well as King's Shield users like Primal Groudon. Boomburst is a dizzyingly powerful move that is used to deal massive damage to Giratina, who otherwise soaks up Extreme Speed. Gastro Acid punishes Wonder Guard switch-ins by allowing Mega Rayquaza to use its powerful STABs against them. Stealth Rock and Spikes can also be used instead to capitalize on the switches Aerilate Mega Rayquaza forces. Pursuit is used to punish Wonder Guard switch-ins and take advantage of the pressure Mega Rayquaza puts on opposing Pokemon with its STAB attacks. Sacred Fire is used to spread burns across the opponent's team while hitting the likes of Mega Scizor, Genesect, and Escavalier. Sky Plate is used to allow Mega Rayquaza's Boomburst to 2HKO Giratina while also boosting Extreme Speed. Lum Berry is an option that allows Mega Rayquaza to switch into Spore, Glare, Will-O-Wisp, and other status moves from Pokemon such as Prankster Giratina.
Aerilate Mega Rayquaza fits best on balance teams that appreciate its ability to revenge kill common Pokemon such as Mega Gengar, Mega Mewtwo X and Y, most No Guard users, and Primal Groudon after chip, provided they aren't running King's Shield. Since Aerilate Mega Rayquaza lacks both a defensive profile and ways to consistently damage opposing Wonder Guard users, it appreciates both defensive and other offensive Pokemon such as Wonder Guard Xerneas or Wonder Guard Mega Audino, as well as common Mold Breaker users such as Primal Groudon, Mega Gengar, and Mega Diancie. Aerilate Mega Rayquaza also loves teammates such as Wonder Guard Primal Kyogre and Prankster Giratina, as it lacks recovery and can be worn down quickly by Stealth Rock and offensive Pokemon such as Pixilate Mega Diancie. Primal Kyogre provides entry hazard control through Defog and Giratina can threaten and force out opposing set-up sweepers and Wonder Guard users with Encore and Curse. Shadow Tag Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo X and Y are also great teammates, as they are able to trap and remove common Wonder Guard Pokemon that lack Shed Shell such as Substitute + Baton Pass Xerneas.

Other Options
=============
Dragon Claw from Mold Breaker Rayquaza threatens Prankster Giratina more effectively than Dragon Ascent; however, it is hard to fit and usually not worth running over a coverage option. Gear Grind has better rolls than Dragon Ascent to OHKO the common Xerneas, but it mostly isn't worth it because Dragon Ascent usually OHKOes Xerneas anyway, unless an Aerilate set is being used. V-Create is a powerful alternative to Sacred Fire, KOing Mega Steelix after minor chip damage and making Mega Rayquaza slightly easier to imposter-proof; however, its drawbacks mean Mega Rayquaza is usually forced out after using the move once, and it doesn't spread status like Sacred Fire does. A Jolly nature can be used on Mold Breaker Mega Rayquaza to outspeed opposing neutral nature Mega Rayquaza, Modest Arceus, Timid Mega Diancie, and Mega Latios, though the extra pressure Adamant brings against Prankster Giratina is usually better. Mega Rayquaza can also use entry hazards like Spikes and Stealth Rock, as it often forces many switches. Waterfall and Steam Eruption are more accurate alternatives to Crabhammer, but they do not KO Mega Tyranitar after Stealth Rock like Crabhammer does unless Rayquaza has Special Attack investment. Close Combat can be used to hit Normal-types like Arceus and Slaking but is outclassed by Sacred Fire in most cases. Thousand Arrows is another decent option that hits Electric-types that resist Mega Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent but is also usually outclassed by Sacred Fire. On Aerilate sets, 56 Speed EVs and either Surf or Steam Eruption can also be used to reliably OHKO max Speed Adamant Primal Groudon.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Prankster Giratina**: Prankster Giratina is one of the few Pokemon that can switch in on most Mold Breaker Mega Rayquaza and live to tell the tale. While Choice Band-boosted Dragon Ascent 2HKOes it, it can heal and PP stall with its priority recovery. Additionally, priority status moves like Glare can hinder Mega Rayquaza's ability to consistently threaten foes later in the game. Additionally, some Prankster Giratina sets elect to run Destiny Bond, which can cut Mega Rayquaza's sweep short.
**Shadow Tag**: Offensive Shadow Tag users, like Mega Mewtwo X and Y, can consistently trap and KO Mold Breaker Mega Rayquaza with their powerful attacks. Additionally, Perish Song trappers such as Lugia and Arceus commonly run King's Shield, which can remove Rayquaza's strongest asset in its high attack, and KO it. However, Shadow Tag Mega Mewtwo X is threatened by Aerilate sets.
**Priority Users**: Common priority users like Refrigerate Kyurem-B and Mega Abomasnow, Pixilate Mega Diancie, opposing Aerilate Mega Rayquaza, Extreme Speed Regigigas, and Huge Power + Sucker Punch Dark-types can reliably KO Mold Breaker Mega Rayquaza after Dragon Ascent's defense drops. These threats can effectively force a coinflip scenario, KOing Mega Rayquaza with priority if it stays in and getting good damage with Pursuit if it decides to switch out.
**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock heavily punishes Mega Rayquaza due to its pivot-heavy playstyle, chipping it every time it switches in. However, Stealth Rock is rather difficult to consistently keep on the field, as a teammate with Defog can remove Stealth Rock and then potentially bring Mega Rayquaza in with a pivot move.
**King's Shield Users**: Activating King's Shield with a contact move potentially nullifies Mega Rayquaza's ability to wallbreak and secure KOs. However, King's Shield users must be healthy, as well as sufficiently bulky enough, to switch into Mega Rayquaza and hamper its offensive prowess. Additionally, King's Shield can effectively prevent Aerilate Mega Rayquaza from revenge killing some Mold Breaker Pokemon, the most notable being Primal Groudon.
**Imposter**: Defense drops from Dragon Ascent mean that Imposter users can effectively force out Mold Breaker Mega Rayquaza, even if they don't hold a Choice Band.
**Wonder Guard Users**: Most Wonder Guard users such as Xerneas, Primal Kyogre, and Mega Scizor can completely wall most Aerilate sets and either force it out with Moonblast, recover HP, or remove entry hazards without much fear. It should be noted, however, that Mega Scizor must fear the rare Sacred Fire, as it is a clean OHKO.
