I support slashing in Fire Blast on the Earthquake slot of the lead set, but still contend that suicide lead Aero is a fantastic and underrated Pokemon and deserves a set. It does what lead Terrakion can't, which is prevent a spin until it's dead and gone. Stone Edge is a 2HKO on Starmie and potential 2HKO on Tentacruel, Earthquake is a 2HKO on Tentacruel, and Fire Blast is an OHKO with barely any investment on Forrretress after rocks. Those are the 3 most common spinners in BW2. It's nice to have a check for them that also sets up rocks. For a hyper offensive team, like the one I ran lead Aero on, it works like a charm. It forces the opponent to make a choice between spinning and getting set up on, or not spinning and having to deal with hazards for the rest of the match. Most of the time, they make the wrong choice.
I also believe that we should drop the LO Attacker set. Why even bother using it? There are much better offensive options at your disposal: Terrakion, Landorus, and Scizor, to name but a few. Aerodactyl has great Speed, sure, but its Attack stat and limited movepool aren't enough to justify its use in the BW2 OU metagame. Essentially, Aerodactyl is a weak choice in the first place, so it should be played to its strengths or not played at all, and its strengths lie in setting up rocks, getting in a couple of decent hits, and giving multiple sweepers a window to clean up the game right there.
I tried LO Aerodactyl on the ladder. All it does for my team is switch into Tornadus-T and threaten it out. That's literally its only use. I don't want to waste a team member simply for the purpose of checking a Pokemon that barely makes top 20 in last month's usage stats. Jirachi does it better anyways. In addition to that, with all the Water-type attacks flying around this metagame, Aerodactyl has a tough time switching in on things. Hell, it even fears Ferrothorn, because of Gyro Ball. I thought it was supposed to remove defensive walls, not quake in fear before them...Sorry, but I'm going to have to pass on offensive Aerodactyl for now. It's just not up to par with the rest of what OU has to offer.
