ok so very this thing basically gets off without a scratch from anything that pdon can do, once it gets a toxic off there is pretty much nothing pdon can do except wait for death

252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 52 SpD Ho-Oh in Harsh Sunshine: 109-129 (26.2 - 31%) -- 5.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Dragon Pulse vs. 252 HP / 52 SpD Ho-Oh: 75-89 (18 - 21.3%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

Due to its water typing and defence investment it means that mixed rp primal groudon has no way to break waterceus, meaning waterceus is one of the strongest counters in the game. Waterceus is easily able to switch in and toxic stall primal groudon as it lacks sd and resists fire blast.

calcs:
0 Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 248 HP / 244+ Def Arceus-Water: 138-163 (31.1 - 36.7%) -- 72.5% chance to 3HKO

Defensive Kyogre-Primal is a good check to Primal Groudon in that, Kyogre-Primal wins if harsh sunshine is not up, in other words it must be switched in in order to win. If they're both brought in at the same time Kyogre also wins but if Groudon-Primal is brought in on Kyogre it puts it in an awkward situation - forcing it to switch out. It cannot switch in if stealth rocks are up.

0 Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Kyogre: 168-198 (41.6 - 49.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Ability: Delta Stream

- Surf
- Draco Meteor

0 SpA Rayquaza-Mega Surf vs. 0 HP / 100 SpD Groudon-Primal: 428-504 (125.5 - 147.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Dragon Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Rayquaza-Mega: 226-266 (64.3 - 75.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (ik mine is actually -spdef but im too lazy to calc again, altho Dragon Pulse does maximum 85% to -spdef Ray)

Scarf Rayquaza-Mega outspeeds this groudon even after a +2 Speed boost. Even if the Groudon somehow hits +4 speed, you can still tank a Dragon Pulse and OHKO back with Surf. This also means that you can hard switch in vs Groudon on a dragon pulse and revenge kill. I dont think that I need to explain anything else lol, you literally just have to click 2 buttons

Lugia @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Hp / 160 Def / 96 Spe
IVs: 0 Atk
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Toxic
- Whirlwind
- Substitute

The key here is substitute, if they've boosted their speed, you sub first and then roost, and the two rounds of lefties you got + roost will put you back up to full to reactivate multiscale, so you can repeat this until they run out of fire blasts. If they miss at some point, then you can toxic to speed up the process. Dragon pulse doesn't break the sub even without multiscale intact, so if they do that you get a toxic off as well. If they haven't boosted their speed, then you just get the toxic off first and alternate between sub and roost.

Calcs:

252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Multiscale Lugia in Harsh Sunshine: 113-133 (27.1 - 31.9%) -- 42.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Fuck it, if y'all can post Mantine, I can post my boi SpDef Zyg. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The big green fella counters the big red fella so completely - pun intended - I'm surprised PhysDef wasn't the first submission. Dragon Pulse and PBlades only 4-5HKO, doing less than TArrows does in return, leaving Zyg free to phaze, para, poison, set up on or 3HKO PDon as it wishes. (Zyg still checks but dislikes HP Ice variants, but the given set isn't running it.)

0 Atk Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Zygarde-Complete: 183-216 (28.8 - 34%) -- 98.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Primal-Groudon is definitely one of the hardest Pokémon to switch into, along with Mewtwo, Mega-Rayquaza, Primal-Kyogre, Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, and Arceus-Ground. While most people just use SpDef Rock's, Primal-Groudon has a lot of viable sets. Rock Tomb + Eruption eats most Pokémon alive. Anything that resists would hate being Toxic'ed. Mixed RP is a fantastic late-game sweeper for balance teams. Primal-Groudon is terrible to beat.

Well, the primary way of beating Primal-Groudon is by determining it's set. You generally beat it through Toxic or pressuring teammates with heavy hitters that force Primal-Groudon, like Primal-Kyogre and Mega-Rayquaza. If you somehow know your opponent is going to have mixed RP Primal-Groudon, Mantine is probably one of the best answers.

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Haze
- Toxic
- Scald / Defog

Lovely typing, fat SpDef, and a radical movepool. AG Mantine is essentially a weird combination of defensive Ho-Oh (on the SpDef side), Gastrodon (#SlugForDRank s/o Corpse), and Goggles Zygarde-C. Mantine can essentially check any special sweeper that isn't carrying super-effective coverage (seriously! It has a chance to eat special Light Burn into Photon Geyser. It WALLS non-Thunder Ogre (which it could form a nice duo with SpDef Primal-Groudon).

The primary Mantine moveset consists of Toxic, Haze, Roost, and Defog/Scald, but you could also try Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Mirror Coat, Mud Slap, Sleep Talk, Tailwind, Water Sport(edit: that is not Water Spout), or Whirlpool.

With regards to our friend Primal-Groudon, here's some calcs:

252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Fire Blast vs. 240 HP / 252+ SpD Mantine in Harsh Sunshine: 93-111 (25 - 29.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ SpA Groudon-Primal Dragon Pulse vs. 240 HP / 252+ SpD Mantine: 65-77 (17.5 - 20.7%) -- possible 5HKO
Groudon-Primal Precipice Blades vs. Mantine: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- possibly the worst move ever

Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Horn Leech
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Whirlwind

This is pretty self explanatory; tapu bulu has the perfect typing to counter this beast as it resists thousand arrows and is immune to dragon tail. With a combination of horn leech and whirlwind, along with it's max hp max defence investment there is no way for Zygarde to break this. Even in a last Pokémon sitation, tapu bulu is simply able to taunt, horn leech to break sub and then toxic it to wear it down over time while spamming horn leech.

calcs for fun:

Buzzwole @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 124 SpD
Impish Nature
- Ice Punch
- Roost
- Toxic
- Hammer Arm

due to buzzwole's resistance to tarrows, zygarde has to resort to dragon tail phazing to try and beat it, which does pitiful damage thanks to its natural physical bulk. this buzzwole has ice punch and rocky helmet to try and counter zygarde as effectively as possible, allowing it to chip zygarde as it spams dtail and preventing it from dding easily. buzzwole can also wall threats such as sd arceus, lo marsh, and cm darkceus, while spreading toxics. you can run earthquake over ice punch to not be gar bait and leftovers with less spdef over helmet, but that means zygarde has a pretty decent chance of beating it. you should also try and keep rocks off, as if you manage to lose a bunch of 50/50s with dtail, the chip really adds up and zygarde can get off a bunch of damage, even possibly 1v1ing it.

from zygarde:
228+ Atk Zygarde Dragon Tail vs. 248 HP / 136+ Def Buzzwole: 55-66 (13.1 - 15.8%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock

228+ Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 248 HP / 136+ Def Buzzwole: 41-48 (9.8 - 11.5%) -- possible 8HKO after Stealth Rock

+1 228+ Atk Zygarde Dragon Tail vs. 248 HP / 136+ Def Buzzwole: 82-97 (19.6 - 23.2%) -- 21% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
zygarde shouldn't be able to get +1 w/o taking an ice punch or letting buzzwole roost

+1 228+ Atk Zygarde Tectonic Rage (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 136+ Def Buzzwole: 123-144 (29.4 - 34.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

+1 228+ Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 248 HP / 136+ Def Buzzwole: 61-72 (14.6 - 17.2%) -- guaranteed 6HKO after Stealth Rock

Ground-type resist, big defense stat, 4x super-effective coverage, Regenerator, and immune to Spore/Leech Seed on top of it. Widely considered the best Zygarde-50 check in OU (when it was legal), "Arc-Fairy" walls the adult form of Zygarde as well. HP Ice is for HP Ice. Grass Knot does decent damage to common switch-ins. Knock is for utility, mainly removing Leftovers from Ferro, Celes, Gira, and Ho-Oh. Regen keeps "Arc-Fairy" broken healthy, so good luck wearing this beast down.

Standard physically defensive Arc-Fairy is the primary Zygarde check in AG, and stallbreak isn't the Zygarde that beats it (that'd be Sub-Glare, Toxic-Protect, or DD Z-Iron Tail). EVs make Arc-Fairy nice and thicc. Fairy-typing gives Arc-Fairy an immunity to phasing attempts. Fairy-type Judgment 2HKO's Zygarde-C. Toxic lets Arc-Fairy cripple some switch-ins. And Recover is Recover. Everyone knows what Arc-Fairy does and it's a top-tier Arc in AG for a reason.
