ORAS OU Age of Skarm. The Time of Eye. Reign of Parasites

Hi, fellows. This is a semi-stall team based off the combination of Sableye and Skarmory. For those who don't know it is a team which it has the positions in the traditional balance team, but it also contains some stall features like dealing damaging with indirect damage. The members of this team is Mega Charizard-X, Chansey, Latios, Skarmory, Sableye, Excadrill. Please rate it with good judgement, tips, and editing. Overall readers, I hope you enjoy this team.

TEAM MEMBERS

The Defensive Trio:

Skarmory__Normal_Coloration_by_Xous54.png

Skarmory (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Roost

This is Skarmory, one of the most annoying pokemon on my team. Roost is necessary because this person is my physical pivot and spiker. Enough said already about that because that is essentially all Skarmory's job. Whirlwind is out their to rack damage after stealth rock and spikes are out their to deal massive damage. However you may be asking that Skarmory would shut down because of taunt. Yes he would fall down to taunt. However the percentage of good taunters in OU are suicide leads and a few others such as sableye. Not a healty percentage as suicide leads literally suicide allowing skarmory to still set up. The EVs and Nature of Skarmory is practically normal but the remaining point is put into speed so he will outspeed other Skarmorys. 0 IVs in attack to screw around with confusion and foul play since he doesn't attack at all.

Sableye_by_Xous54.png

Sableye (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Recover
- Knock Off

Sableye, one of the most hated pokemon on this team. Being an anti lead, taunt allows Skarmory to set up a Stealth Rock when put in front of Ferrothorns and other Skarmorys. Walls Physical sweepers that is not a fire type with that Will-O-Wisp. Prevents pokemon to set up with taunt and with Skarmory's spikes and rocks set up, no one wants to switch. All of the moves here are usually on the traditional Sableye set but it is still poweful 'cause of the synergy with Skarmory and Chansey. But before we get to that, we have to get to other statistics. Rocky Helmet there to kill physical sweepers faster. Also the 4 points in speed there is practically put there only to outspeed other sableyes. Therefore rending them useless with a taunt. Now to the main topic. It supports Skarmory by being a spin blocker. Defog is then the only way to retreat from Skarmory's rage. It also helps both Skarmory and Chansey by wearing down all the physical attackers. It can also help Chansey deal with Fighting types by simply being immune to it.

Chansey_by_Xous54.png

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
- Aromatherapy

Chansey is one of the best special walls for OU. This pink blob can wall any special sweepers that do not have psyshock or secret sword. This detail makes it a fast candidate on this team as it can save them from Skarmory and Sableye from special attacks. (Not sacred sword though) It can also protect them from most status conditions making it a great support for Skarmory and Sableye. Most of it is usually generic but Thunder Wave is preferred more than toxic as it renders most sweepers useless with that speed drop. The Evs put in HP is put into use so it could last physical attacks more. The unique change in Def and SpD is just so that Eviolite would be abused to the maximum as it makes them even. No decimals and the small changes doesn't matter much.

The Offensive Trio:

blablabla.png

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor

After having the pivots, anti lead done, I needed to have some offensive force to destroy the pokemon that the defensive trio have weakened. Latios held a great spot on this team because it can get rid of Infernapes and Gyaradoses with ease which I figured they are probably problematic to my team. It can also help the trio by blasting common defoggers that attempt to erase Skarmory's hard work (Except lati@s). Here is the example of it.

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 302-356 (78.6 - 92.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 248 HP / 108 SpD Mandibuzz: 257-304 (60.7 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Skarmory, Scizor and Mew can easily be taken care of by Sableye (i.e. taunt and will o wisp) so with these 2 moves latios will be extremely helpful. Also Latios's Earthquake is there to help me with problematic heatrans with taunt. Chansey will get burned and can't help much but if Heatran comes to switch on latios. Earthquake will definitely kill it. (This idea is credited to Thunderorange)

blablabla.png

Excadrill (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin

Defogging vs Rapid Spinning. Spinning is probably better for this team as it doesn't destroys Skarmory's hard earned work of setting the hazards. A good spinner in OU is Excadrill and it can also back a huge punch when it is given choice scarf. Jolly to outspeed Adamant Charizard X and the rest of this is generic. But teamed up in this team Excadrill can screw up multiple threats in this team like Charizard X, Latios*, and Talonflame*. (*Only when properly predicted.) Also it scares Mega Diancie away. With the ability to get rid of hazards and to check most counters to this team it has great synergy with its team mates.

blablabla.png

Charizard (M) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Roost

Deciding for the last pokemon for this team is hard but i choose Charizard. This is mostly because after the defensive trio have done their damage to the opposing team, the goal is to have another trio (the offensive trio) to overwhelm the opponents team. Charizard is practically the best candidate for it as one dragon dance he can destroy the entire stage. Jolly is there just in case if there are any remaining threats out there. He can also help them take care of most threats as we are going to show here.

+1 252 Atk Charizard Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Espeon: 328-387 (98.2 - 115.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

+1 252 Atk Charizard Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Absol: 331-390 (122.1 - 143.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252 Atk Charizard Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mega Sableye: 135-160 (44.4 - 52.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

With this Charizard is the reason on my team. Ability to break through most threats. Mega Diancie however can be easily taken care of by Excadrill (i.e. iron head and if I am lucky, he/she may think i am just pivoting).

(Also ignore the ls and commas. Those are placeholders)
(Bold means threats)

Unfortunately, every team in OU must have at least one check or counters. This team has multiple and it can be seen here.

Counters:

Mega Diancie

Magic Bounce is my team's greatest enemy. But Excadrill is put in their to help with that problem.

Mega Absol

Same as Mega Diancie. But counters are not needed to put in there as they are pretty fragile.

Mega Sableye

Same as Mega Absol. Latios can help that problem by nuking sableye.

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Sableye: 246-290 (80.9 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Espeon

Not as bad as Mega Sableye or Absol, but is very annoying when reflect is on the field. Usually Excadrill will take it down.
Checks:
Choice band talonflame can rip walls in this team. If it spams flare blitz i will just pray that it will die to recoil and rocky helmet (Sableye).

Life Orb Keldeo can hit hard on this team. If that is so i have to switch in to latios and hope it misses. But if choice specs, Hydro pump is walled by chansey. Secret Sword would never touch Sableye.

Yeah so this is my team and i hope you enjoyed it.

Before I make my suggestion I would just like to say I like your team! I think the term for your build is semi-stall which is a concept I am a big fan of. Now onto my suggestion.

Heatran is one of the biggest and most common things stopping a Mega Zard sweep. The only thing that 100% deals with it is Excadrill who can't switch in (chansey is screwed over by taunt trans which are getting more and more popular). Because of this I am going to suggest a moveset which turns one of your biggest liabillities in the fight against heatran turn into your greatest asset. May I present Lure Latios!

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Thunderbolt/Earthquake
- Roost
- Psyshock/Earthquake
- Draco Meteor

When using this you need to be cunning with your lure. You can't just come in after a poke dies or the oposing player may suspect something. The easiest situation to successfully lure and kill heatran is when you are in against something you oustpeed that doesn't want to take a draco meteor. You go straight for the draco meteor. The player either lets something die to the draco or they switch in Heatran believing they are safe before getting bopped by an EQ. Either way it is a win win. Try it out and see how it fares.

I really like your team the only thing that I could possibly critique is that your team is weak to rocks. I see that Excadrill has rapid spin but do you really want rapid spin on your scarfer honestly I could see a ghost type setting up on you because you wanted to rapid spin and could end having a hard time with a ghost because you can't hit any ghost for super effective damage. I don't really know what to do about the scarfed rapid spin but you could maybe trade out night shade for sucker punch or knock off [if he learns it ] bur all in all I think it is a very good team

Why do people use Excadrill outside of Sand?
I don't like the idea of Scarfed Rapid Spin. That's just giving away free turns. Unless you want to turn this into a Sand team, I would put an Air Balloon on Excadrill. Chansey really doesn't fit a Sand team, so that would require some real deconstruction. Quick importable:

Excadrill (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin

Well the only pokemon on my team that is weak to rocks is Charizard and usually he doesn't attack because the defensive trio usually get them first. But scarfed excadrill is practically my only way for excadrill to do big damage. Also it gets rapid spin more easier. but usually rapid spin is not needed much in this team. but thanks for the complement. and the only ghost type i c setting up on me is mega sableye and i plan on multiple ways to make it go. Thx anyways

celticpride, rapid spin is not needed that much as i said before and excadrill's mold breaker helps to kill a lot of pokemon

Hiya! This team is pretty cool, and I have some suggestions:
  • You don't really need to have max HP on Chansey, as it already has an enormous HP Stat. I would recommend using a 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD spread instead, letting Chansey sponge special attacks further and keeping the physical bulk.
  • A switch you may want to make is to use Clefable over Chansey. The reason I suggest this is that, not only does Clefable serve as a more efficient wall, it comes with the added bonus of providing Stealth Rock support. This would free up a move on Skarmory, letting it run exclusively Spikes to remove its cripple to Taunt. Clefable and Latios synergize decently, with Latios taking care of Heatran and Clefable taking out most of its checks and counters. Try a set like this:
    Clefable @ Leftovers
    Ability: Magic Guard
    EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
    Calm Nature
    - Stealth Rock
    - Moonblast
    - Fire Blast
    - Soft-Boiled
  • In conjunction with the previous set, you can switch Stealth Rock to Brave Bird on Skarmory since Clefable covers it.
Otherwise, your team looks pretty great! Hope I helped!
Good luck on your team! =)

Why do people use Excadrill outside of Sand?
Scarfed Exca god awful, use Sand Rush with T-Tar if anything.
Hey, I have to agree with Celticpride, don't run Scarf on your Exca. Rapid Spin is pretty important for a team with Charizard on it so you will have to use Rapid Spin to get him a safe switch-in eventually unless you really really want to bank on the possibility that you'll be able to Roost up the turn you switch him in which I really wouldn't advise. Being Choice locked into Rapid Spin is the ultimate momentum killer. I would recommend another Spinner completely, but I don't know who to suggest, Starmie limits the things you have that want to take a U-Turn, Forretress and Tentacruel are too passive for the offensive half of your team so that likely won't do you much good overall. I guess Thundurus over Sableye and a more defensive Spinner like Tenta may be possible, but I'm not convinced of that either. Yeah, I've got nothing, but don't run Scarf, please.
Secondly, I'd recommend Bulkyzard X. Bulkyzard is much better in the current meta with his ability to take more hits and hit harder at the cost of a little speed. Jolly max Atk max Spe is mainly for DD 3 attacks if I recall, so if you're going to run you current moveset then I'd advise Adamant, 144 HP / 252 Atk / 112 Spe. If you want to keep your current EV spread then run EQ over Roost.
That's the most I can really add since I'm not the best guy to come to for semi-stall but I hope I helped regardless. Good luck, man. :]

Just a minor change, but I would definately go for Leftovers over Rocky Helmet on your Sableye.
Sableye is good, but his defense stats are frail and he needs to hit that burn. Those 6% of HP can be really game changing.

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor

Naive>Hasty. Nearly all priority in OU is physically based (and most offensive teams as well) so you'll want to drop your special defense a bit, not your defense. Minor nitpick.

Damn, I was just ninja'd to it while I was editing my post. XD Yeah, Naive > Hasty in pretty much any and all situations, you'd rather be taking less priority damage than more, and after some battle-wear that neutral defensive stat could be what lets you live a priority hit and fight back. Always Naive for fast mixed attackers, 'tis the superior nature.

I will take the chansey advice but i would not prefer clefable 'cause i forgot to mention that chansey is there to wall and i am not so sure clefable can do that. but i will try out ur advice. thx.

Well i will try out the bulkyzard but if i don't have scarf, i have no way to kill mega diancie and that magic bounce annihilates this team. But thanks for the scarf
