Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences):
I’ve been playing competitive DOU since november 2022 (which is about when I joined the official server.) I’ve played in multiple tournaments, including OSDT, Doubles Seasonal, and more! I have played Oldgens DOU and National Dex Doubles if that’s relevant. I have 2,000 games in Gen9 Doubles Overused alone, but I definitely know I have more to learn :3

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I've been playing pokemon more than casually for 3 years as of this May (mostly in discord draft tours), and played in my first smogon tournament less than a year ago, and was met with some early success. I've become increasingly unhappy with my development as a player as of late. I have problems that I'm aware of but have struggled to address, mostly beingclicking buttons too quickly, and not recognising key turns. I'm also aware I don't have a lot of tournament specific skills like scouting and building good teams more than once a month. I'm signing up because I feel like having a direct connection with a more experienced player would be contextually appropriate with the problems I'm experiencing.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes. I'm on both the smogon and smogon doubles discord servers

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started playing in 2021, I mostly played SS LC until I discovered OMs. My main tier was SS GG, I wrote several analyses over it's lifespan, and I also competed in OMFL III with about a 50/50 winrate. However recently got bored and took an eight month break, so I'm a little rusty but I wanna learn a new tier and NU looked fun. I've been playing NU for a few weeks now, so I have some basic metagame knowledge.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I've played pretty irregularly for about 5 or 6 years only just getting more into it at the start of covid. Mostly play a ton of draft in a circle with friends but got more into laddering towards the end of SWSH and now in SV. Pretty consistently hover just outside of T500 in any tier I decide to grind out and peaked at 1486 in NU and am currently in Round 3 of the open. Mostly looking on how to push farther past that peak

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I have extensively played monotype since Gen 7, but after the dex split, I gravitated more towards NDM Mono due to a more healthy meta. In NDM Mono, I have played in 2 NDMPLs (being on the winning team previous to this year's), placed 4th in this cycle's Stellar Cup, and have played in other tournaments in NDM Mono as well (also peaked NDM Mono once). I'm really just looking to get to know the meta of SV Mono building and playstyle wise so that I can perform well in a more mainstream and 'viable' tier.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): Back in August 2023, I stumbled upon a NatDex DOU tournament in a Hololive fan server that was announced the day I joined the server. With about a month to prepare, I spent a lot of time on the ladder leading up to it, which I was able to peak at #15 on the ladder with 1577 ELO and about 80% GXE. That all happened before I made an account as seta0052 on Smogon/PS, so I was under a different name at the time. As for the tournament itself, I won undefeated, but at the same time...it was pretty obvious who practiced the most and I felt like I didn't have much competition there.

1717488573464.png

I've also played regular DOU and was able to get to 1500-1600s with my main account and some different alts. One of the main things I noticed with my play is I would tend to make more reactive decisions to the point where they'd end up costing me games and in a way, that discouraged me from touching the ladder as much as I used to. Additionally, I'm not very experienced with building teams and playing in tournaments overall. I'm good at reverse engineering teams, but I'd like to be able to build some really cool teams that work well. Ultimately, I'd like to be a more consistent player with a tight grasp on the fundamentals. Fun fact: watching JP Nationals this past weekend was what influenced me to sign up!

When I play, I'm not particularly good, and I struggle to grasp some things that come more naturally to other players. I mod Draft but the best I've ever done was like, Round 4 in Kickoff? Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): i've been playing draft leagues with friends for years now. Sadly they weren't a challenge anymore and i found the smogon draft where i've been humbled quickly. I think the best i got to was low tier with like 5-3, since i've struggled to get out of battle pools. I would like to learn more about all aspects draft has to offer.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I have quite a bit of experience with draft, starting as early as December 2021ish, and have since then won a smaller community league, a team tour, and oversee my own draft league community as well. However, I always find myself stuck in the middle/lower divisions when it comes to skill level and would love a coach that could help me optimize my evspreads, prep for matchups, and even diffuse that playoff game anxiety if possible. I think I have a strong grasp of the fundamentals, but would like to progress to the next level.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I started off playing Monotype and contributing to it, before focusing more on National Dex. I'm still relatively new to the draft scene and haven't played in any major officials with much success, but I have done well in side leagues (especially NatDex formats). I would like help mainly with drafting and prepping specifically to beat an opponent, since I usually go with a rather standardized team.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): Hi! I started draft a few years ago now, and I'm pretty sure most of the tutors recognize as being a discord mod there, but I was hoping maybe a tutor could help me improve my game a little bit. I had a pretty stellar year last year, making like 128th in Kickoff and getting a phenomenal 9th place finish in ORAS 1 last year, but since then I've been in a serious slump--either drowning in pools or placing last in non-pool tournaments since then. To get a better understanding of where I feel about my growth and journey, if draft was converted into a ladder based elo system, I would describe myself as like a 1600-1800 elo player, who is good and can clearly "hang" with the the top dogs, but when faced up against someone at or better than my skill level, I almost never rise to the occasion and beat them. And maybe through tutoring, I will realize that this is wrong and I actually am better than I think I am or I'm worse than I thought and I got lucky and I need to retrain my brain in certain aspects, all that is fine. Ideally what I would like to achieve from from getting a tutor is feeling some more linear growth, predominantly through achievements (which I know isn't the end all be all of growth, but more so as benchmarks of hard work and determination) and help with mental prep--whether it's doubting my ability to draft a usable team or second guessing myself during prep and not recognizing in-game threats appropriately--to ensure that I can be the best player I know that I am.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): All the tutors will recognize me as I've been playing draft for over 7 years now. I have won some weaker team tours (and Clash of Kings Season 3) and have a few championships in what I'd call "Draft OMs" and old gens. I also made top 16 in last year's USUM Cup and the Cash Gang Circuit USUM and SWSH Cups (for those who remember those from the covid period). I have the fundamentals down but I would really like help to elevate my game to the next level to finally break into that upper tier of draft competition. In particular, I tend to be much weaker at standard (especially in SV) compared to any non-standard draft formats so I want to learn as much as I can about how to succeed in SV and also how to build on my fundamentals to get past the hump of "being able to beat the average player but getting smoked by top-tier competition". I know I have the potential to get better and reach higher, and I think with the help of a tutor I can learn what I'm missing and shore up my weak points.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I've been playing Draft League since 2021 and feel I have improved significantly. However, I feel I was never able to dissect a matchup and properly prep a team. I can't visualize what I have to do in a game and I feel like that's the main thing holding me back as a player. I have made some strides, but I want to become better at drafting across 6/7/8/9 and improve my ability to prepare my teams better and have multiple perspectives sequencing and executing said prep.

I feel like my play is decent when I focus, but my teambuilding could definitely be improved so that's what I'd like to work on, mainly to gain more flexibility & confidence when prepping for tours.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I've been playing draft for few years at this point. My experience comes mainly from smogon's draft tours and more recently leagues such as the colosseum and the wpf. I am usually able to make it a couple rounds into the smogon tours (Usually 3-5) and have just won the colosseum's great ball division. I feel mostly confident in my drafting capabilities, though there are still aspects that I could improve upon. Oftentimes I'll fixate on one or two specific paths I could take with my draft which sometimes limits my potential to see the bigger picture. The main aspect of draft that I feel like I need to improve upon is my prep. It's hard for me to conceptualize what my opponent will bring often leading to losses against sets I didn't expect, and while I would say I prep my sets well I sometimes fall into the trap of bringing similar team structures or builds to a lot of my games which may become repetitive and predictable. I'm trying to learn and grow as a player, I would greatly appreciate the support of a tutor. I would love to have the chance to learn and converse with those more experienced and knowledgeable in draft in order to learn from their unique thoughts and insights. Thank you.

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): EDIT 19.1.2025

I started out playing mons back in 2019 with the launch of Gen 8, but only started taking mons seriously in 2023. I have played both formats a lot, with BW OU taking the majority. My issue is that I don't usually think twice for what plays I tend to make and struggle seeing what I should have done after reviewing a replay. I also have a bad habit of throwing leads away when it good positions, and then falling behind and not be able to recover games. I think a lot of it has come down to a bad mentality over time which I am working on slowly but surely. I wish to take the next step as a player in terms of tournament play and laddering, I want to learn better decision making during games, how to play in a lead and how to play from behind better.
Are you able to use Discord?: Yes, aleksanteri. on discord. I would prefer using VC during coaching

Tell us a little about your experience in competitive Pokemon (min. 3 sentences): I've been playing mons since 2020, started getting good in late 2023. In DOU, I hit #40 on ladder with minimal losses so I could probably push higher if I continued instead of letting the alt decay and I'm in round 8 / top 16 of the ssnl, however im clueless in teambuilding and my play could be improved as well. In singles tiers, I've gotten onto OU VR and QC, SS QC, won ND Trios, and have gotten into smaller PLs.
