America's Army and the use of media for military recruiting

Why not? In the OP's head, (and I guess Glen's) all 3 of those should be bad. Why is military the one getting picked on?

as jumpluff said, because that is what the thread is about

i don't think any of this is inherently worse than anything you'd find in a cosmo magazine, and i made that pretty clear earlier on

I think it's fine as long as it doesn't target ages that are too low. The military has to advertise, and this just seems like an intelligent advertising scheme. Really 13+ should be fine (the canadian military has a cadets program starting at that about that age iirc).

I will be one of the last few people in this thread to say that joining the military is a good decision, but I don't see any problems with a new marketing strategy.

The Us military starts targeting High School students. The US military offers a bunch of perks to people willing to join but it's really a matter of preference. I would join for the perks but not to go to war per-say.

Also you guys are seriously underestimating teenagers. By 13, most kids have seen so much crap like drugs, swearing, sex, and violence through movies.

At 16, (the age when the military had it's presentation in my school), I doubt teens will be like "OMFG I must join!!111"
