Welcome to the third edition of the Anything Goes Community Create-A-Team (or CCAT). While the Galar metagame has been out for a bit, it is still fairly recent, and yet lots have lost interest in the meta and building for it. In hopes of rekindling those flames, I've decided to host a CCAT!. The objective of this is to build a competitive viable Galar Anything Goes team that can be used effectively in the current metagame. We'll go through each team slot initially, providing sets and explaining why they would fit on the team. After sets have been posted, we'll vote for which set we think would be best suited for the team. Once we've done this for all six teamslots, we'll go through and fix any issues the team had initially. Three cheers for teamwork!

Rules:
  • Please refrain from posting bad or "gimmick" sets. Innovation is fine, but I reserve the right to exclude objectively bad sets from voting.
  • When posting a Pokemon, post it with a moveset, and a few sentences of description on why you think it fits the team and why you chose the moveset you chose.
  • When voting, you can only select one or two submissions. Explanations of votes are nice but not required.
  • Feel free to discuss other submissions, but please only refute others' sets with solid reasoning (as opposed to "I hate Calyrex so I don't want to include it").
  • Remember that this team is for the [Gen 8] Anything Goes format. Any pokemon that are NOT available in this format will not be included. I don't want to see any Arceus formes or megas being posted here.
  • Have fun!

Ok so the direction I want to take the team to is a webs hyper offense, Shuckle is a very solid webs lead that will allow us to add a variety of different offensive mons in the future to help build a solid webs team. Red Card prevents pokemon from using shuckle as setup fodder as well as preventing zacian-c from cleaning the team. I feel like hyper offense is less constrictive in teambuilding this gen than balance, so I think this would make a very good first mon for a fun ccat.

Kyurem-White @ Utility Umbrella
Ability: Turboblaze
EVs: 40 SpA / 216 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sheer Cold
- Roost
- Dragon Tail
- Freeze-Dry

I'd like to give Kyurem-W a shot! With regards to this set specifically, I feel like Kyurem-W would be a very fun defensive Pokemon to enable a fairly free balance-building process that doesn't need to worry constantly about checking Kyogre, since Kyurem-W checks just about every conceivable Kyogre set. In addition, this set would provide nice wallbreaking power, clicking Sheer Cold on a bunch of random stuff to make progress in almost any mu.
TL;DR: Spdef Kyuw is cool because it makes the rest of the building process far less restrictive.

I think we should go with kyogre.

Kyogre @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Water Spout
- Origin Pulse
- Thunder
- Ice Beam

Kyogre is such a good mon when it comes to variety, it hits really hard with specs pulse or spout under rain, doing around 60% to bold chansey and OHKO'ing necrozma dusk mane, which would come in hand if paired with zacian. It can support almost any mon, and is just a good mon to have when you're looking for a breaker and something to cripple their team. That's all, its not very formal, but yeah, thanks!

boring

Reshiram @ Life Orb
Ability: Turboblaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Outrage
- Roost

what we SHOULD be doing is using big fat reshi, cause no one preps for it. we need to release this fact to the public reshi is pretty pog, it hits dd and then kills stuff (also geysers told me to make it outrage)

Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Thunder
- Focus Blast

The queen of life herself, boasting a powerful setup move with Geomancy that turns up the heat and turning it into a very strong breaker! With web support and the speed boost from Geomancy, Xerneas' power will be a force to be reckoned with. Moonblast hits neutral on a few mons for a big chunk and nukes all those pesky dragons that permeate the meta. Thunder is already a strong move that helps hit Ho-Oh and a powerful move to use under Dynamax and clean up teams. Lastly, Focus Blast deals a big chunk to steels like Zacian-C switch-ins. Not too well-versed in Gen 8 meta, but know not to underestimate the power of Gen 6's Pokemon of life!

Ability: As One (Spectrier)
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Astral Barrage
- Baton Pass

Baton Pass Calyrex is just ridiculous. It can use BP the turn after Yveltal switches into it, passing the boosts to another really threatening mon. It can pass to Yveltal, Xerneas, Kyogre, Eternatus... the list goes on and on. It's very difficult to prep for, and almost nothing can prevent Calyrex from Baton Passing.

Good Old zygarde back at it again, this mon has alot of options in terms of which roll it might wanna fit into. It could be either phys def glare haze dd sub toxic or this. This set is designed to abuse mons such as ferrothorn or dmane who generally want to switch into for example dtail or knock leftovers off. Scale shot allows u to get +1 speed after u hit one scale shot but ur defensive drops by one stage, this doesnt really matter to u since u can always coil ur defense back up again. Now on the point i was talking about before coil gives u +1 attack, defense and accuracy, accuracy doesnt matter but attack and defense do since that allows u to set up much more easily vs mons that could break u down like for example lo poltergeist marshadow. Rest is there for recovery. I think this could be a cool set to explore the current metagame a bit more and maybe our minds change from dd dtail/toxic into this.

Im not gonna lie and say this is the best suicide lead, shuckle is usually better. But, slurpuff succeeds where shuckle cannot by punching a hole in the enemy team by putting them to sleep and/or doing a large amount of damage with STAB misty explosion, which would allow a frail mon to come in for free. I'm suggesting slurpuff because this dog shaped friend of mine here gets way less usage then most other suicide leads and it would be nice to see a generally useful mon get some recognition.
And to go with that, here are some calcs that may be of interest to some of you
252 SpA Slurpuff Misty Explosion (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Yveltal: 252-296 (64.1 - 75.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Slurpuff Misty Explosion (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Calyrex-Shadow: 123-145 (36 - 42.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Slurpuff Misty Explosion (100 BP) vs. 16 HP / 0 SpD Zygarde: 254-302 (70.3 - 83.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

I like the submissions so far, keep it up  Anyway, here's mine:

:ss/heatran:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 148 SpD / 108 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Taunt
- Toxic
* EVs allow you to outspeed bulky Kyogre so you can prevent Rest in a pinch

I feel like stall is the most underexplored playstyle in the metagame as of right now; we could really do with some more brainstorming in this regard. I've been convinced Heatran is an amazing glue on it for a while now for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, Heatran is as close to a counter to non-Meteor Beam Eternatus as you can get. This is incredibly important for stall teams as they have major trouble breaking through Eternatus because of its access to Pressure, recovery, and an immunity to Toxic. Heatran is also notable for its ability to suck up momentum out of Ho-Oh’s hand like no other. It blocks both Sacred Fire and Toxic, defeats it with the combination of Magma Storm and its own Toxic, and can even ensure entry hazards stay up with Taunt in a 1v1. Keeping entry hazards up is obviously majorly valuable for stall teams; it’s one of their best ways to force long-term progress. Heatran can also easily force entry hazards to stay up against Lunala and bulky Defog Yveltal lacking Knock Off. The positives don't end here: Heatran hugely limits status absorbers in Chansey and Blissey, is not prone to Gothitelle shenanigans, and is just a great wincon in general between Magma Storm, Toxic, and Taunt forcing progress against just about anything that isn't Rest Zygarde-C or Kyogre. Having said that, Heatran obviously comes with a fair share of flaws too. It's a very underexplored Pokemon, however, which would make it all the more exciting to come up with ways to patch its shortcomings up as effectively as we can!

:ss/regieleki:
Regieleki @ Life Orb / Choice Specs
Ability: Transistor
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Rash Nature
- Thunder
- Ancient power
- Rising Voltage
- Volt Switch

Using this set regieleki can easily sweep using rising voltage when electric terrain is out. Using electric terrain+Stab+transisitor+life orb/specs this move becomes very powerful and can kill lots of mons before being taken down. Getting electric terrain is no problem either, you can either Dyna and use max lightning or have a mon that can activate electric terrain. But when that terrain is out this mon is not easily taken down. It easily ohkos zacian, ndm, yveltal, and other op mons. The only way to shut this mon down is by ditto or a ground type mon. But if you use a mon like Tapu Koko that activates terrain then you can easily take out a mon like zygarde. You can also use a kyogre which takes care of the job faster allowing regieleki to sweep without a risk.
:zacian-crowned: 252+ SpA Choice Specs Transistor Regieleki Rising Voltage (140 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Zacian-Crowned in Electric Terrain: 543-639 (166.5 - 196%) -- guaranteed OHKO
:kyogre: 252+ SpA Choice Specs Transistor Regieleki Rising Voltage (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kyogre in Electric Terrain: 914-1076 (268 - 315.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
:yveltal: 252+ SpA Choice Specs Transistor Regieleki Rising Voltage (70 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Yveltal in Electric Terrain: 620-732 (157.7 - 186.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Palkia @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Spacial Rend
- Thunder
- Fire Blast
Palkia in Galar is a really good wall overall with really good spa without investment as well as not needing status moves for longevity with pressure it can make mons like Etern being forced to either swap out or stay in and waste it's already low pp move Dynamax Cannon which is pretty good with it's good movepool always swapping on specs/scarf ogre which is hard to build against but with it's massive resistance to water moves and overall good special bulk even if Kyogre dynamaxed your not really threatened taking advantage of rain as well with boosted hydro pumps and 100 acc thunder's to hit Ygod and Ogre can absorb t wave from Ndm/reg Don which is really key in most ladder matches because of t wave usage without a mon like Chansey/umbrella Blissey or a mon like Av Palkia it can cause pain. Although it can't use status moves other then palkia on stall that runs rest confide toxic (filler) you don't need them because of the other walls /status spreaders you can put on your team in galar it also works as a slight ditto check if you don't get crit/miss.
Here's some calcs: 252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Palkia in Rain: 71-84 (18.4 - 21.8%) -- possible 5HKO Most teams have trouble with the possible specs modest breaker set that Kyogre can run but AV Palkia with it's large movepool that allows it to check all the mons in the current galar ag metagame if they do swap out you can set up rocks and palkia can always read a swap and get pretty good chip on most mons.
252+ Atk Choice Band Marshadow Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Palkia: 313-370 (81.5 - 96.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Even if your not investing in physdef even insanely hard physical attackers like Ada band marsh don't kill unless hazards are up but it's still a roll to OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Zacian-Crowned Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Palkia: 263-310 (68.4 - 80.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Without play rough (Which most zacian's in galar ag tend to not have) It doesn't ohko Av Palkia and you potentially can KO it with rain boosted max geyser's from a opposing kyogre or a max flare.
Your probally wondering well if Av Palkia can tank most hit's what can it do back
4 SpA Palkia Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Necrozma-Dusk-Mane in Rain: 237-279 (59.5 - 70.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
It threatens alot of bulky threats like physdef Ndm with rain boosted hydro's
4 SpA Palkia Max Lightning vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Yveltal: 210-248 (46.1 - 54.5%) -- 54.3% chance to 2HKO
What I tend to do with my Av Palkia builds is dynamax it if there's nothing that punishes Dyna like defensive Reg Don setting up sun and pressing toxic vs palkia.

252 SpA Life Orb Eternatus Dynamax Cannon vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Palkia: 198-234 (51.5 - 60.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
4 SpA Palkia Spacial Rend vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Eternatus: 320-380 (76 - 90.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Offensive eternatus does not OHKO after rocks but Av Palkia can OHKO with the correct roll after rocks

4 SpA Palkia Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Zacian-Crowned: 202-238 (61.9 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Fire Blast chips zac making it easier for other mons on your build to deal with it.
After looking at calcs Av palkia's bulk+ a natural strong special attack stat nothing checks palkia hard or has a good mu vs it unless it's play rough zacian

It seems like a meme but it does well and probally the only mon in ag that can run av 4 attacks without giving much up. Lefties rest is prob better but Av palkia is just a fun set I found to work well in Galar ag.

Marshadow @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poltergeist
- Close Combat
- Shadow Sneak
- Bulk Up

Marshadow is an extremely potent threat in Galar AG due to its stellar attack and speed stats combined with its excellent ghost-fighting typing. Not only is this typing threatening against common metagame mons such as Ferrothorn, Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, and Calyrex, but it also allows Marshadow to complimentarily boost its attack/lower enemy defenses with STAB moves during dynamaxed turns. It also has an excellent offensive movepool of high base damage stab moves in Poltergeist (110) and Close Combat (120), priority stab moves which get boosted by Technician (Shadow Sneak) that allow it to threaten faster sweepers such as Calyrex, and a self-boosting move in Bulk Up. Marshadow would be a great Pokémon to build a team around because you can utilize certain Pokémon whose checks are threatened by it (Zacian -> NDM) to create a strong offensive core.

Here are some clean calcs that demonstrate its excellent synergy with Kyogre and Zacian:

252 Atk Life Orb Marshadow Poltergeist (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane [Premier Zacian-C Check]: 211-248 (53 - 62.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 Atk Life Orb Marshadow Max Phantasm vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Prism Armor Necrozma-Dusk-Mane [Premier Zacian-C Check]: 398-468 (100 - 117.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Marshadow Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Ferrothorn [Premier Kyogre Check]: 393-463 (111.6 - 131.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 Atk Life Orb Marshadow Max Phantasm vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eternatus [A Popular Kyogre Check]: 452-534 (93.3 - 110.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
