Is the steel type immune to getting poisoned, or just to poison attacks? Could a Normalize Delcatty use Toxic on a Skarmory? I think I have read somewhere that Twineedle could poison steel types in earlier generations, but not in this one. Is that correct?

If IV check is used on an egg, will it produce the same results upon hatching?

Also, are shiny eggs decided upon claiming the egg or creation? In other words, can you lock onto a shiny egg and keep SRing?

I always wondered this, but is it rather tacky to always use other people's pokemon as parents for breeding?

1) Can't IV check an egg (as far as i know) even w/ an AR
2) creation i beleive, then you save before taking it, take it, the nature and gender are decided upon creation and IVs are decided when you pick the egg from the guy

Yes it will be the same when it hatches/
It is decided when the egg is generated. when the guy turns to the right.

No, in fact it is much better to use other people's pokemon.

You can IV check eggs.

Wow that's really helpful advice BlakBlastoise, being able to IV check eggs is something I didn't know so thanks for that bit of info.

So I'm breeding Sneasel. I'm using 30/31/31/x/8/31 and 29/31/31/x/16/31

The two parents don't like each other much.

I was wondering would it be better if I SR on a jolly egg or just continue mass hatching?

Ok I'm confused as to WHEN the IVs, Natures, Gender, and Shiny/Not Shiny is determined. Can you SR on "adamant" then sr over and over before picking up the egg to change the IVs or WHAT?

I'd like to know this also. When are you better off SRing or mass hatching?

I'm only about 95% sure about this but this is what i think i know:
Nature, Gender, Ability and shiny is determined when the egg is created, that is, when the old dude turns and says he has an egg. If you see him turn and save, the egg you recieve from him will always have the same Nature, Gender, Ability (and be or not be shiny). The only thing that will change on the egg are the IV's, thus making it possible to soft reset an egg for your desired IV's

so you cant sr for a nature. once you have saved on the guy's egg, it will always have the same nature.

example:
You save when the guy has turned to the right. You take the egg and hatch it. it's a shiny Serious natured Bronzor with heatproof. It is also male (for the sake of example). The iv's are 0/0/0/0/0/0 so you turn off the game and get the egg again. Every time you hatch the egg it will always have a serious nature, heatproof ability, be male and be shiny. the only thing you can change from this are the IV's the pokemon has. i hope this helps

Mmk. Btw, bronzor is genderless :p

That's why i put "for the sake of example" in parenthesis

Edit: I think shed shell does not go away. Someone used a skarm aginst my magnet pull probopass and he switched it out more than once. This was on wifi btw/

Ah, my skarm was able to switch out more than once too, but on shoddy so I wasnt really sure. Does anyone else know? Just incase because blastoise doesn't seem to certain (though I'm pretty sure it doesn't now).

sorry about the false answer by me, I've only used shed shell on shoddy so...ya

@ Blak Blastoise: So if I get everything I want on X egg, I should then SR till i like the IV's rrather than breed more?

Depends. If you want your pokemon to have 31/31/31/x/31/0 and you have parents with 3/5/6/4/2/5/5 you could just SR but it would take forever to get all those random 31's.
If you have good parents then you can just sr. Parents are 31/31/31/x/x/x and 31/x/x/x/31/0 then you should probably sr/

I think it is good to SR if both parents are at least triple flawless, anything less and you are gambling too much on random IVs. SRing eggs is only viable if you have an AR/R4 because otherwise you would have to hatch the egg every time to check its IVs.
