who wins if your knock out your opponets pokmeon but then your pokemon faints becouse of life orb?
You would win since the life orb damage is not included if you knock out your opponent's entire team beforehand.

Sorry for the double post.

yes, critical hits ignore any boosts/reductions in attack and defence.

Really? Defense drops as well? Didn't even suspect that was the case...

So that means it's possible for a critical hit to do less than a normal hit would. I must have a poor sense of humor, since I find this quite amusing...

i find that quite amusing as well
should i make my swellow hold toxic orb or flame??which does more damage?

Let's clear something up:

Critical hits ignore attack drops and defense boosts.

From the Stats article:
If a Pokémon scores a critical hit against its foe, certain Stat Modifier boosts and drops are ignored. If the attacker has drops in its Attack or Special Attack, the stat is set to level 0 for calculating the damage of the hit. If the victim of the critical hit has boosts in the Defense or Special Defense stat, the stat is automatically set to level 0 as well. Reflect and Light Screen are also ignored. This only applies for the critical hit, and reverts back to whatever boosts and drops the Pokémon had previously after the hit's damage has been calculated.

EDIT to darkseeker4's question: Toxic will deal less damage over the first two turns than Burn. Their cumulative damage will be equal after three turns. After that, the Burn will deal less damage.

--Toxic Poison
Turn 1: 1/16 of max. HP (rounded down, of course)
Turn 2: 2/16
Turn 3: 3/16
Turn 4: 4/16
...
etc. up to 15/16

--Burn
Turn 1: 2/16 of max. HP
Turn 2: 2/16
Turn 3: 2/16
Turn 4: 2/16
...
etc.

Just wondering, is it required or otherwise encouraged/implied in some way that war stories have/ought to be Ladder Matches? It doesn't state so in the rules, but every war story that I've read so far has been a Ladder Match.

no way. If you have a good tourney match and you want to warstory it and have the approval of your opponent, then go for it.
However you are required to wait until the tourney ends as to not reveal any teams.

Actually, I didn't mean tourney matches either. Just random challenge matches.

I don't have any logs I can use at the moment (lacking opponent approval), but I was wondering if I ever happened to have a good battle while testing my team, if I'd be able to post it.

Must I use Focus Blast on Gengar? I was quite dissapointed by it. At least Sludge Bomb is reliable...
Of course not. You could always use Hidden Power: Fighting, but it'll have 70 base power max, leaving you with 2HKOs that could be 1HKOs.

Sludge Bomb is useless against the Steel types Focus Blast of HP Fight would hit for SE or neutral, and is only SE against Grass types with another type that doesn't resist Poison.

Also, Hidden Power Fighting drops your speed, meaning you'll never tie with another Gengar.

But why isn't Sludge Bomb an option? It gets STAB and actually had a bit more power than Shadow Ball. I know Posion is crap offensively, but...

Because Gengar is usually a sweeper, and for sweepers Type Coverage > Power for the most part. Gengar would REALLY miss being able to smash Steel types into the ground with Focus Blast, things that Sludge Bomb can't touch at all.

On the other hand, walls like Tentacruel can sometimes get away with using Sludge Bomb because type converage is less important on walls, since they are usually meant to deal with specific threats.
What are the base stats of all the platinum Rotom forms (if they're not the same as the base stats of ordinary Rotom)?
www.serebii.net

When will the new analyses for Giratina Origin, Skymin, and Appliance Rotom be on the strategy Pokedex?

That depends what it is about. Often you can just post it in congregation even though it's not intended for Pokemon related topics, they do exist there.
